  1. You can learn a lot from that video... especially by watching his footwork... He does the same thing every time in the same situation... Good video to study... Thanks for posting it.
  2. I think you're right... They use the same wording in the three divisions where you can not use a magnetic mag pouch... and omit it in the other divisions where you can use them... Plus it doesn't seem to offer any advantage in PCC... If it's an unloaded start, just pick up a big mag from the table/barrel. I was trying to decide whether it was worth an email to Troy... I think not... I'm going to skip it.
  3. Well that will be never... It makes headlines when the temperature drops below the 60's down here...
  4. Wilson Combat's oil comes in three different viscosities for different temperature ranges... You must have used the thickest... It also comes in standard and Lite Oil versions... I use their thickest oil most of the year here in Florida, but use the Lite Oil on .22 rimfire Steel Challenge guns... It contains "The slickest substance known to man"... How could you not use that...
  5. Added a magnet to my PCC belt... Handy for holding an extra magazine while running a stage... Magazine is less likely to fall out than a regular mag pouch and you can move the magazine lower on the belt than on one of the small mag pouches. Tried it last night for the first time at our Tuesday night match... Worked well, but one of the guys asked if I was sure it was legal in PCC... I figured if lasers and 50 round magazines were legal, a magnetic belt clip should be legal, too... But it got me thinking... I looked in the new rules... Production, CO, and SS all have a note stating no magnetic attachments for magazines... Nothing in PCC. I assume magnetic clips are allowed in PCC?
  6. Small world! It was a fun classifier... I need to practice reloading on the move in PCC... and adding another mag pouch to my PCC belt. Most classifiers without steel are Virginia count... Guess they don't want you to hose them.
  7. Interesting... I've been running a Taccom Extreme 9mm bolt without the weight for quite a while... It shot well and I never really thought about adding any weight to the buffer system until lately... Recently bought an RB5015HD for a second/backup PCC rifle I'm building... it will also be a spare in case the RB5007 in my original PCC rifle breaks... Also bought one of their SS weights to try. Brian at Blitzkrieg suggested running both a bolt weight and the SS weight for 9mm PCC rifles... Since I wasn't running any weight at all, and since I have a spare bolt with a 2.6oz weight, I decided to test them at the range... First shot about 15 rounds with my current setup (no bolt or buffer weight)... Swapped in an identical bolt, but with the 2.6oz bolt weight... shot a couple of mags full and didn't notice a huge difference... swapped out my RB5007 and installed the RB5015HD... keeping the bolt with the weight... and shot another few mags full... It was difficult to tell the difference... It seems to shoot a little smoother this way, so... I left it set up with the bolt weight and the RB5015HD... I've shot a few matches with it that way. I was afraid that the extra bolt weight would make it shoot slower, but that is not the case... Another thing I noticed is that the brass seems to come out cleaner now... less soot on the cases... The bolt seems to be easier to clean, too... although it is a new bolt... My plan is to continue shooting with the RB5015HD and the weight in the bolt.
  8. Are you running a weight in the bolt and also a second SS weight in front of the buffer?
  9. https://uspsa.org/viewer//18-09.pdf Shot classifier 18-09 I Miss That Kind of Clarity yesterday in PCC... Fun stage... I shot 3 targets from the back fault line, then ran up while reloading and shot the remaining 3 from the front fault line... Did the reverse for the second string... I underestimated how difficult it would be to run backwards and reload a rifle. Scored a low 'B' percentage... If I had it to do over again... I would shoot the left and right targets on both sides and shoot the remaining target up front on the move... Then reload and be pretty close to the other fault line by then... for the final 3 targets. I didn't do it this way yesterday because I thought the almost 180 degree transitions would be slower than just shooting all three in progression and running up.
  10. If you use the same spring/spacer setup in the A5 tube that you used in the carbine tube, you would actually be lengthening the stroke... not shortening it. My charging handle won't pull back far enough to lock the bolt open... The easiest way I have found to determine how much I am short stroking the bolt is to measure how far past the trigger reset point the bolt will pull back... You can hear and feel the click... If the bolt pulls back further after the trigger reset with the A5 tube than the carbine tube, you need to add spacers or something to the A5 setup to get back to the same amount of stroke you had with the carbine tube.
  11. I didn't want to ruin all the surprise... The 'Time Chart' option in PractiScore Competitor is an amazing tool... Extremely helpful to see how you visually compare to another shooter that shot the match and stages (and was timed with an AMG timer)... It's a great tool to see/compare splits and transitions with someone that's faster than you... or a group of people.
  12. What spacers were you using with the A5 tube? If you make a delrin spacer that is the difference in length between the carbine tube and the A5 tube, you won't have to switch tubes to go back and forth... You can just pop in the spacer and use your carbine setup. I used to do that when I used a JP SCS buffer for a specific Steel Challenge load.
  13. https://www.amg-lab.com/ It's a great timer... Check out the video... Lots of new features... Two start time delays for dry firing (fixed plus random)... Bluetooth connectivity pulls stage times from AMG timer directly into PractiScore...
  14. Originally posted a link to a standard extractor that I used... It works well, but I would go with the Taccom tuned extractor that is now available... I have one in a new Taccom bolt I just got for a second rifle... Tried it in my original, complete rifle and it works well.
  15. It's a 3/32" diameter roll pin... also called 'Tension Pins'... You can get them at a hardware store or order them from Amazon... I'm currently using a 3/32" x 1/2" long pin... It seems a bit short... I had to punch it down deeper to make sure it seated below the extractor... Picked up a few 5/8" long pins for spares. Get a 3/32" roll pin starter punch while you're at it... It makes starting the pin much easier.
  16. Ah... I suspect that's it... Thanks for the clarifications Mike and Eugene... I'm not sure our Match Directors will start offering Classifier reshoots again, but it's nice to know that they are legal and that PractiScore is set up to handle them... Do most matches offer Classifier reshoots? When we used to offer reshoots, we would have about 5 or 6 reshoots out of a match size of 72 shooters... Mostly people that missed a reload... gun malfunction... no-shoots... that kind of thing.
  17. Agreed, but sometimes things like that happen. PractiScore now keeps two identical shooters separate? I seem to remember PractiScore combining scores for two identical shooters... Apparently that is no longer the case... Apparently PractiScore now throws a Globally Unique IDentifier into the mix to keep shooters separate... Good to know.
  18. The A5 receiver extension is about 7/8" longer than a standard carbine extension. Your wave springs compress to about 1/16" and a quarter is about 1/16"... The sum total of your quarter, wave springs, and half inch spacer is 11/16" total... That's a bit less than the amount you gained by going to the A5 receiver extension... Your bolt still locks because your bolt travels further back than a standard carbine tube and buffer setup.
  19. I believe one of us is missing something. Shooter Bob shoots the match... Shooter Bob shoots the match well but zeros the classifier... Later on shooter Bob grabs an RO and a match tablet, but probably not the same match tablet, and reshoots the classifier... Shooter Bob shoots the classifier much better this time. Shooter Leo is in the same division as shooter Bob... Shooter Leo shoots well and wins the division... However!!! Shooter Bob's second classifier reshoot has a later timestamp and overwrites his initial zero classifier score... Now shooter Bob wins the division and the trophy... That's what I call affecting the match results.
  20. These new classifiers look like a lot of fun... Nice shooting, Rowdie! You're getting closer to GM...
  21. The new AMG Labs Commander is very sensitive... It will pick up you snapping your fingers on its most sensitive mode... Check out the short video on their main site... It shows an air gun. https://www.amg-lab.com/
  22. Exactly... and if the most recent score is the reshoot (which it will always be - hence reshoot) that higher score will be used in the match points for that shooter and will affect his, and others, division results... It's the same as reshooting a bad stage because you shot a no-shoot the first time through.
  23. I find it funny that USPSA HQ relies on an outside, external company to completely design, manage, and upload scores to the USPSA's proprietary scoring system. Having said that, you do a great job Eugene! I can't imagine going back to paper scores and EzWinScore again...
  24. I don't think this is the way this works. We have had instances where a shooter will shoot ahead without telling anyone... Then when his original squad gets to that stage, they DNF him because he is not there... The DNF overwrites his earlier score due to the time stamp... His earlier score can be recovered. Eugene... Can you confirm that PractiScore will let two shooters with identical information have two sets of scores and post correctly to the USPSA? What about USPSA's validation stage during the upload?
  25. I also have the Taccom handguard and like it... It only has one screw, but works well if you use Blue Loctite on it...
