  1. Glad to hear all went well. I look forward to seeing everyone next month. Thanks to all those who showed up and helped.
  2. Kevin, Thanks for running the matches now. They are a blast to shoot. Dan did a good job and you have continued on that tradition. See you in April for the classifier. Mads
  3. Great match, great place to shoot, great folks to talk to out at Rayner's - that's for sure. I finished about 51 percent of a 'Open Hyder' whatever that is... : ) WTG AH! After I shot the combat shotgun side match with my pimped out JP 1187 I agree, pistols *are* kinda stupid. They are severely lacking in the shoulder thing that goes up department. How is Jim able to infect our ideas? Pistols are fun! My shotgun is stupid.
  4. Thanks, I appreciate that. I am never disappointed in the people I get to meet at matches. Some of the best people I have met have been in the shooting world at matches. See you tomorrow on the other side.
  5. + 1 to this. Drove from Ohio to Alabama yesterday for the Heart of Dixie, everytime a driver did something silly and caused a vein to pop, they were on their phone. Doing something. Half were holding it up and talking on, presumably, the speaker phone.
  6. Don't forget about the PCSI steel match tomorrow. Stages are set, shooting three new stages that have not been shot since I have been running the matches. Hopefully the rain holds off for the match.
  7. Just got done shooting the match, fun and fast stages. This was our first time shooting the match and definitely will be back. Thanks to Mark and the set up crew for putting together the stages.
  8. Mags should work between the 23 and 19. I run 22 mags in my 34 and 19 without an issue. It gets a little iffy when I run my 22 mags with the Arrendondo's on them. Conversion barrel and possibly an extractor, not sure. I think the springs are the same, wouldn't swear to it. I know I run the same springs in my 34 and 35. I have not looked to hard but it should not be that difficult to find a conversion barrel. I don't blame you for wanting to switch. I had a 23 for a while, the only loads that were fun and enjoyable to shoot out of it were production 40 loads. Major loads and factory loads were quite difficult to shoot, at least for me. I moved up to a 22, not much size difference, but night and day on the recoil. I did pick up a 19 and, I hate to admit, it is one of my favorite guns to shoot and it shoots incredibly well.
  9. I had completely forgotten that. And it reminds me about the WHY as well. Yeah, a couple years ago, didn't know the rules well, hit a falling plate and it spun sideways on the stand. I didn't know it was REF and thought I still had to knock it off. Kept shooting at it, finally hit it so the plate went off the stand. As I transitioned to the next plate, RO stopped me, had me do a reshoot, and said something along the lines of he let me keep going to see if I could still hit the plate though it was sideways and only had the edge to shoot at. Didn't realize at the time, a little perturbed now that I know the rule, wish I could remember who it was.
  10. For the April match, I am going to have a special division for J-Frame/CCW pocket guns. Everyone seems to enjoy this and it allows for some practice with guns we do not generally shoot a whole lot. For this division, the intent is for folks to shoot their pocket guns, generally 5 shots for the revolver and 6-7 for the autos. We will all start at the low ready position, no drawing from a concealment holster. For this match and division only, I will allow .380s to be shot. If you intend on shooting this division, please have a buddy system set up to help keep mags/speed loaders full. This will help the process go more smoothly for all of us. ALSO, if you are shooting 380 or any other surplus ammo, please check to make sure there is no steel in the bullets themselves. This will destroy our plates and I will be most unhappy. I will not have any targets beyond 20 yards for this, but there may be a 10" plate or two for the day!
  11. If all goes as planned and everyone helps out, the main match is done about 1:30 or 2:00. If you reshoot, generally about 4:00. These are general, if there are fewer people, we have been done as early as noon. However, we had a match last year with 70 or so and it took quite a while, people started finishing up about 2:30/3:00.
  12. Welcome to the Central Ohio area. Stop on up to Pickaway County Sportsmen, we offer a variety of matches if you are so inclined. Good group of people. www.pcsirange.com and click on Calendar for dates, links to the different descriptions if you are unfamiliar with them.
  13. Craig, I am planning on running it as a level 1 match so we do not have to be a member to shoot. However, I will run the eight stage challenge in July as a classifier for those who are members of SCSA.
  14. I thought you were super human Chris! It's all good, kinda cold, missed seeing Micah running around in the early 80s get up trying to stay warm.
  15. Most of the purchased ammo I see at the bigger matches comes from Atlanta Arms. I have shot some of their 40 minor through a friends gun, shot well and was accurate.
  16. I have been hearing yea and no for years on this question. I think in the end, it is up to the owner with a glock barrel. I have not run any plain lead through my Glocks, however, I have run quite a few thousand Bayous and other coated lead without any issues or signs of leading. Actually, there are some other threads out there that talk about Bayous and how clean they are. And, they are the cleanest bullet I have ever shot with almost no residue or anything in the barrel. Now if I could just convince myself to shoot VV powder which is supposed to be cleaner than my 231...
  17. I would think if the shooters like the current matches as is then leave it that way. Possibly replace a few steel targets with paper. That is one thing I have done with stage designs to change how difficult the stage design is. Twenty yard paper is easier on less experiences shooters than twenty yard mini popper shots. I got myself hung up on a twenty yard mini this past weekend.
  18. +1 to just drop and grab a new mag. In the end it ends up quicker, unless you have to light of a hammer spring in a 1911 and the thing just goes *click* with each trigger pull

    FTE

I have found having a solid stage plan in your head, going over t several times, including a couple times counting the number of shots and matchig it to the WSB has helped not forget targets. The only time it happened to me last season I did not have a solid plan, only walked the stage once (first shooter) and I didn't count shots in my plan. It wa rough because outside te six misses and three FTEs, I shot te stage well!!!(sarcasm intended)
  20. That is true, however, I have seen folks get burned doing that, loading down their mags and having an issue where they would have needed the extra rounds. I have watched it on classifiers and on some mid-length (20 rounds-ish) field courses. Guys come up with only a mag or two, depending on division, start the stage and something happens. Some poor guy had two mags, shooting open, both short sticks, on a 28 round COF in a state match. He shot most of the stage on mag one, dropped and loaded mag two, and the base pad fell apart on him dumping 20 rounds of SuperComp on the ground, along with the spring and follower. He just stood there in shock.
  21. Welcome to the Single Stack Club. I agree with Carmoney and midvalley, Uncle Mike's holster for $20 works as well as my Bladetech, draw times for dry fire is the same. Get used to a bunch of mags wrapping around you and get used to where you have to pull them from. I have lost track in the middle of a match and wasted time searching for a mag on my belt because I was not consistent with where I grabbed them from.
  22. I use 3.8gr of clays with Bayou 230gr and get about the same results. This has been my absolute favorite load for competition use. People shoot that out of my 1911 and they almost can't believe it's a 45. To me, it shoots softer than a lot of the 40's I've tried out of other guns. I am there with you. My buddies have a hard time believing my ACP major loads with Clays are that soft. They have threatened to pull out a chrono on me at the local matches even! I do feel that the felt recoil with the Clays at major in ACP is less overall than the major 40 loads I have using 231. And of course, dad is still up in arms that I would use anything other than Bullseye in 45. He even gave me an old pound can a few years ago (was marked $8 for the pound) in hopes that I would switch. Can is still sealed in the back of the powder box.
  23. GREAT! Who's the sick and twisted SOB that allowed Anderson to design a stage! The Barbarian! I will give it to Anderson that his stages usually end up being fun for most people. Lets see if he challenge Hyder enough though with Hyder's new found shooting abilities.
  24. Available from the factory is good to go for production.
