  1. How difficult are you expecting the mag modification to be? I'd buy that drill press, but I'm worried it'd have to be more exact than I'm capable of...
  2. I haven't taken the gun apart all the way down to the frame - what's the prospect of a lighter hammer spring to lighten that da pull?
  3. Got my K100 yesterday and put grip tape on it (I can't shoot any gun well without grip tape/stippling) and changed the backstrap to the one that felt the best for me - the gun really feels good in my hands - better than any other Production division-type gun I've got (XDM, Shadow, Glock.) Put the Dawson sights on it today. I shot it yesterday without the grip tape or new sights - seemed to get back on target with the sights in perfect alignment faster than the XDM that I was shooting in that same session. And that's with it feeling like it had been coated in oil. It doesn't fit in any of the holsters that I own for my other Production guns. The CZ mags fit right up in there but of course they don't stay in place. I tried to use a really small cut off wheel to cut the square into one of the CZ mags - I don't see alot of promise in my being able to get that done...maybe I'll try one of those bits for the dremel that is shaped like a drill bit but is meant for cutting patterns. I'm not seeing the trigger being similar to the Shadow at this point (other than being double/single with an exposed hammer.) I don't know if it's better or worse at this point - it's just alot different. It's much heavier, I hear creaking noises as I'm pulling it, the reset is shorter, and there is much less take up in single action mode...so there are things I like better about it and things that I don't. I'll get somem trigger time on it shooting drills Sunday.
  4. I guess the focus area is different for everyone - I've been told to focus on "shooting alphas" at match time...and when I do that I get mixed results (sometimes feeling like I'm just out there moseying around.) I can reshoot a match very competitively right after shooting it like I was wading through mud with zero sense of urgency.
  5. My Shadow didn't do that when I first got it...now it does. Very nice 'feature' to have. I will definitely post feedback. I've got an XDM 5.25, Shadow, 85 Combat, and Glocks 34 and 35 to compare it to. I'm turning into a Production gun collector...
  6. I've got the dawson black rear and fiber front ordered - that puts me at $530 for this gun. I've got way more than that in each one of my other Production guns.
  7. Enjoy. It is a great gun for the price. Big draw back right now is the lack of magazines on the after market. We really need to look into drilling CZ mags. That's exactly what I'm planning on doing...if I'm ever to use this for competition. I've got the MecGar CZ mags with the round hole where (it looks like) the square on the K100 mags are. That was part of the agreement I made with myself (that I would be in only for the gun and the sights...didn't really NEED a new Production gun.)
  8. Just ordered one from JGsales...I'm excited to shoot this gun.

    OPEN GLOCKS

    Is that major ammo?
  10. Great gun - I've got the .40 also. Had a mag well welded onto it and a thumb rest bolted to the frame and it's a very capable Limited gun.
  11. How generous is the magwell area? Pretty easy to do mag changes with? (I've got an 85 combat that has no 'beveling' or whatever you wanna call it and it's a problem.)
  12. I used a Ghost Stinger with my SP01 Shadow this weekend and liked it very much. I used it in its stock configuration with the belt attachment (or whatever you want to call it) running straight up and down. I didn't do the measurement from the inside of my inner belt to the nearest surface of the gun, but it looks to me to either be further than or right at 2". However, it should be easy enough to resolve without having to adjust so the spine doesn't go straight down - just shorten the size of the black spacers at the bottom (could use file, sandpaper, cut off wheel, etc.) If and when I have to do that, it *might* make me not like the holster as much. The main reason I liked it was that there was room for my thumb in between the gun and my belt (and I got a near perfect grip every draw,) which is because the holster attaches to the belt attachment down below (rather than up at the top.) If shortening the black spacers gets me to where there's no room for my thumb, then the holster might not have any advantage over the Black Ice and Comp-Tac that I adjusted on to make them hold the gun straight up and down.
  13. I dry fired trying to get up tight in the beaver tail and seems like it'll work. I've only been shooting for a little less than a year and never handled/fired a gun before that, so I'm sure I missed out on some fundamentals by going straight into action pistol. I think as I was dry firing tonight I noticed not having to be as careful to not disrupt the front sight being all the way up in the beaver tail so I'm pretty excited to get out and live fire focused on that. Seems I can get up in there and still have room for my weak hand...previously I was thinking I could not. I'll post back after live firing. This weekend I threw one shot every stage - would be nice to be able to run even harder in the future without having to be as careful about not disrupting that sight picture when pulling the trigger, and if the recoil control is better than it already is that'll be a big bonus.
  14. I'll play with that (getting my hand tight up against the beaver tail.) I don't think I have a problem at all with excessive muzzle flip with my Glock and I'm not tight up in the beaver tail with that gun. But who knows, maybe it can actually get better than it is. Seems like it would take a bit longer on the draw - right now I just use my bottom three fingers on my shooting hand and don't worry about forming the rest of the grip until both hands are together.
  15. should have been a B with a ) after it, not a smiley face
  16. I think this video describes my grip almost exactly...though I didn't arrive at the grip I use by watching this video - it just came to me from handling the gun and shooting and seeing what A) gave me the most recoil control and allowed me to manipulate the trigger without disrupting the sight picture. Watch the video and notice that Mike's strong hand leaves a gap for his weak hand...the strong hand is not tight up against the backstrap up under the beaver tail (or whatever it's called on a polymer pistol.)
  17. I have the small backstrap on it - I recall having more trouble using the medium and large backstraps.
  18. Yeah I had looked into that extended grip safety and was told it was illegal for Production. I never wrap my right thumb around the grip...if I do that, I don't feel like I'm high enough (especially with my weak hand) and my weak hand doesn't have enough grip panel to rest against. I did shoot the gun for a while and my grip naturally adjusted for the grip safety after a while and I didn't notice it was there everytime I shot...but I wasn't getting the consistent recoil control I get with a CZ or Glock...and then I realized that it was because I wasn't getting as high of a grip because I was up in the beavertail (or whatever it's called on a polymer gun) and my weak hand didn't have as much room.
  19. Any general description of how I might modify it? Or would that be a "gunsmith only" type of thing?
  20. Yeah I guess that shoots down that idea. Guess I just can't shoot this gun.
  21. Anyone know how to disable the grip safety (internally) on an XDM? I've looked in this forum and on the internet in general for an answer to this and I have not found anything other than "your grip sucks if you can't engage the safety" or "you shouldn't disable it they put it there for a reason." I don't want to discuss either - I just want the grip safety disabled without wrapping a hogue grip or rubber band around it (I understand you can't do either in the Production division.) Thank you so much!
  22. Okay...and I emailed the DNROI, too...a little bit of a confusing back and forth - I asked the question I asked above and he responded in reference to the bottom of the HOLSTER (where the holster touches the leg)...when I told him I was not talking about the bottom of the holster (which couldn't be perpendicular to any part of the belt anyhow unless the handle of the gun was up in your armpit) he responded back as if he'd already answered my question of having to do the measurement at the top of the belt. I still don't think he understood what I was asking...in any event, I'll do whatever I have to do to get the holsters measuring within the 2" even if measured from the top of the belt. I assume that'll require heating and bending...
  23. I don't see anywhere in 5.2 and 6.2.5 where any mention is made of whether or not the perpendicular measurement of the gun can be taken from the BOTTOM of the belt. It just talks about the measurement being perpendicular from the point of attachment of the holster/belt...it's attached at the top AND the bottom of the belt. I'm not trying to be a smart ass or game the rules - the holsters I've got are all stock holsters.
  24. Kind of an old thread...but I just measured my gear. I've got a Bladetech, Comp-Tac, and DAA (all DOH) - on all of them, if you go from the inside of the inner to the closest surface of the gun measured directly perpendicular from the TOP of the belt, I'm right at 2" (but I don't like to be that close.) However, if you take that same measurement directly perpendicular from the BOTTOM of the belt, I'm comfortably under 2". This is because all of these holsters have the gun slightly canted in toward my leg. The picture in the rulebook shows the measurement happening at the TOP of the belt...but then there's sort of a disclaimer that says that the picture doesn't show the maximum allowable measurement. The wording in the rule seems to not explain whether the measurement happens at the TOP or the BOTTOM of the belt - just says "at the point of attachment," which seems like it could mean either the top or the bottom... Anybody have any idea if the measurement HAS TO be taken at the top of the belt? Or can it be taken from the bottom as well?

    CZ issues

I too have used Tula small pistol primers with my CZ's with never a light strike or problem. 11.5# main spring, CZ Custom extended firing pin.
