  1. OK - I found one tread with some sources. I also remember a thread that had great pics of some very cool steel targets but I can't find it with the search function. Help . . . Thanks
  2. I'm considering buying some steel IPSC targtets for practice. Who knows a good source for these? I've previously bought some steel knock-down plates from Law Enforcement Targets, but I want to shop around. Thanks.
  3. John - yeah, yeah that's it! That's what happened, yeah! Eric - after you trimmed you mags, were they reliable?
  4. The front part of some of my well-used mags are tearing. It's the top of the mag directly in front of the follower. I noticed the newest mags made by Glock now have metal all the way up to the top of the mag - where mine only have platic and are tearing (an improved design apparently). I've not noticed any problems with the functioning of these mags, but was wondering if it will eventually ruin the mags. No big deal on my 10 rounders, but's it's an expensive exercise to replace the pre-ban mags.
  5. I shot the GA State match last weekend and somehow got put on one of the best squads (I'm not sure how I got on it!). Anyway, one thing that impressed me was that many of the top level shooters on our squad (Max M Jr, Travis T, Chris Tilly, David C) all had fathers that were shooters. As a matter of fact, three of those guys' fathers were at the match. See a trend here . . .
  6. Vince - intersting perspective. I never considered that issue.
  7. OK, even though I just started shooting 3 gun matches, I already want to be Taran Butler So where can I find the Choate 4 shell carriers referenced in the Front Sight article? The article says they're modified by Cal. Comp. Works, but I can't find them anywhere on the web and the Cal. Comp. Works web site doesn't come up. Thanks.
  8. I vote for leaving L10 and Prod alone. The only idea I've been thinking about is to allow minor/major in Production class. All other rules stay the same.
  9. Good to meet some BE'ers at the GA State. Chris - thanks for the kind word. I actually came it second in Production, but AJ McCartney is a FLA resident, so I got to be the GA state Prod champ by default- but I'll take it anyway I can get it! AJ's right hand is partially disabled and he still beat me! He's a very good and experienced shooter. BTW - the mag pouches did help me get those 10 rounders from the small of my back. Now if I can just learn to get them in the gun without a mag well . . .
  10. Shot this for my first classifier in Production at the Ga State match. total time - 13.20 110 pts one procedural (creeeping the beep on the strong hand only string) HF = 7.5758 Any ideas on the percentage? Thanks. UPDATE: USPSA scored this run at 79.533%
  11. I concur on the Pact IV from BE. It's a first rate timer and chrono all in one for a great price. The only chrono I've use inside had two light bulbs rigged on each sky screen to make sure there's enough light to register the passing of the bullet. I don't know any chrono that has built in lights for indoor use. You may just try using it without the sky screens to get more light. You don't need them - they just provide a guide to shoot through.
  12. Chris - What double mag pouches do you run? UM?
  13. Thanks for the replies. I read the Production rules as allowing my Safariland and CR Speed mag pouches (that I use in Limited) as long as they're behind the center line of the body. Is that correct or are they forbidden just like speed holsters?
  14. Hi, I've decided to shoot Production for a while and I'm wondering how many mags most guys run on their belt for Production. 4 or 5? With the placement requirements, the mags must go around to the middle of your back! Thanks for your thoughts.
  15. I'll be there and shooting production - just for a change of pace.
  16. Bryant - yes, that makes sense. Is it then correct to think that all rear sights (with or w/o a carry handle) for flat top uppers are 6/3?
  17. Thanks Bryant and Erik! Erik - a few questions: 1. Where did you get that RPA globe sight? 2. If I use an adjustable A2 rear sight on my flatop 16 upper that's for a 20 upper (i.e., it has the 8/3 markings instead of the 6/3 markings on the wheel), then I should avoid the rear sight range of adjustment issues - correct? (I may be way off here). 3. How do you like the globe sight for pistol-length stages where speed is paramount? Thanks for your thoughts.
  18. Thanks for your thoughts guys. Just what I was looking for.
  19. Thanks Guys. The S_I upper seems to have a barrel that extends out of the slide. I wonder if it will still fit in the muzzle platform of my CR Speed? If it doesn't fit, then it's not nearly as useful to me because I can't put it in my holster and practice any draws.
  20. I'm thinking about getting a Marvel 22 upper for my STI to shoot when I didn't have time to reload, etc. Does anyone use one? If so, what's been your experience with it? Thanks.
  21. So Travis - do recommend tracking the slider for the second shot or just shoot it static? Thanks.
