  1. Wgj3, I'd talk to Bobby Carver of Carver Customs about buying a blank comp from him. He is the only manufacturer I know that makes a comp to match the M&P slide contour.
  2. Your best best will be buying another M&P. I know it's be like $250 per mag, but you get a free gun! Seriously though, good luck. Those were difficult to find 9 months ago, now it's insane.
  3. I'm planning on building an Open M&P Pro with the 4 port Carver Comp. The reason is I'm doing this instead of a S_I is because it's far cheaper, under 2 grand including mags and accessories, I know I'm not competitive for M class, I don't have time to travel for regional competition, ad I want a fun project. I plan on using it in USPSA and 3 gun. I'd like for the holster to lock strong enough to be suitable for 3 gun use, though for now I'm just planning on using a kydex holster for those games. My real question is what holster is compatible with an M&P that long and preferred for USPSA use? CR Speed, DAA, Safariland, or something else?
  4. I bought a gun with one since it was $50 cheaper than the other M&Ps at the shop and they are easily removable if you don't like it. The one I got was definitely made of metal. It is up pretty high and the edge felt fairly sharp. Since I got the gun for competition use I didn't want any extraneous hand soreness or bruises to impact my shooting and in the end it wasn't comfortable to me so I just opened the gun and removed it. I don't know how it compares to the 1911/2011 safety, it's been years since I held one of those.
  5. Dawson Precision makes some that should be plenty high, .325 inches for FO and .305 for Tritium. http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80000D08-1278688137 FO http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=80000D09-1278688144 Tritium
  6. I was just on the KKM website and they don't have the M&P barrels listed anymore, were they discontinued?
  7. .223 wylde can shoot both 5.56 and .223.
  8. I got the 18" Criterion in Hybrid profile. With the JP SCS it balances out very nice.
  9. One of the first things I would get is some 170mm magazine extensions (I know Taylor Freelance makes some) and some extended magazine springs, it should put you into the 27-28 range for rounds in your magazine. The fastest reload is the one you don't have to do. If you're looking for a gunsmith trigger job, Dan Burwell on the forums is practically legendary for his. If you're looking for a drop in kit, the Apex Tactical Competition AEK is very popular and I've been hearing good things about the FSS Trigger from them. The Reset Assist Mechanism made by Apex tactical can really help make the Reset more pronounced when using their competition trigger springs. I'm not sure if anyone currently makes a frame mount for the M&P so doing something like a slide mounted DeltaPoint or RMR might be your best option for optics (assuming you are planning to put electric sights on it.) With a barrel you can either go the ported barrel route or get a threaded barrel and mount a compensator, I know B&B enterprises(Carver Custom) recently came out with one for the M&P but it may be a little difficult to acquire at the moment. You might want to consider an extended magwell to help with reloading and to give you some more non-reciprocating mass, they come in multiple sizes and weights. Lastly, some grip tape or stippling will be an inexpensive improvement.
