  1. I just got the 5"x7" adjustable angle plate from StraightUp_OG's link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271405319144?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I decided to stick with the jig and return the angle plate. It cost me $65+$18 shipping. I figured I'll see if someone here wants it first and save $18 on shipping. $65 shipped (which is what I would get back from returning it to the vendor)
  2. I do take off the slide and reverse it but I re-indicate the jig each time. I also had to make a few mods to the jig to use it with the barrel in the slide. This is what I did when I tri-topped my open gun so the comp and slide had the same cuts and was blended. After messing with the jig a bunch I really think the angle table is a much better way to go. But the jig is perfect for JUST slides. I don't know what the angle cuts are for on the jig but would love to know. Did you just mill out a slot on top of the Yavapai jig a little wider than the lower lug width to be able to put the barrel in with the slide? Any other mods and were there any issues with the structural integrity of the jig after the mods? I have the Yavapai jig and am also looking to tri-top my slide. I was looking for the 5x7 angle plate you got but can't seem to find it.
  3. The comp is 11/16 40 threaded. I'm pretty sure the barrel is as well but I'll double check. I think I'll just get an adjustable die and chase down the treads on the barrel until it fits snugly.
  4. I just got a new KKM threaded bull barrel and when I try to screw on a new Ti Comp, it screws on about 2 turns but then gets very tight. The comp/barrel threads seems aligned properly based on checking the bore alignment. Are the any tips on getting the comp on besides getting a die an turning down the barrel threads?
  5. Open 15...At least it's not Open 10 like some states. I ended up getting a good deal on the T2, so I went with that. Lots of Trubore owners love their guns, so it can't be all that bad. Thanks
  6. What barrel and comp do you recommend? 9 major using 124gr with Autocomp? Cone or not?
  7. I'm looking to get a Trubore barrel (9 major) so I don't have to deal with getting the comp fitted to the barrel. Is the Brazos Trubore w/ Thundercomp much better than a stock Trubore T2? I've read that the Thundercomp doesn't work well with 124gr and AutoComp. Would the T2 be better suited for this? Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the responses. With 4 kids, I can't afford to send them all to private schools. So, I'm willing to deal with the longer commute if it means living in a better public school district. Milton seems to all have larger lots (1+ acres). Any cons to living there?
  9. I might be relocating to Georgia and wanted see if I can get some local intel on some nice areas to live north of Atlanta. I have 4 elementary aged children and will be working out of Buckhead. Could anyone give me some good areas to help narrow down my search? I've been researching Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Roswell and Milton areas and am looking for the following characteristics: - Commute to Buckhead (near Lenox Square) less than 1 hour. - Safe, family oriented neighborhood. Swim/tennis/golf amenities preferable - Very good schools - Min 1/2 acre lot. 3/4+ acre preferred - 5000+ sqft home - 700k-900k price range I see a lot of higher end houses on the market for over a year at times. Are they overpriced or are homes just not selling? Thanks, Mike
  10. Did you ever chrono your loads? If so, what were your velocities?
  11. Thanks. Yeah, can't find good pistol powders so I'm stuck trying to use whatever I can get my hands on.
  12. Is it a decent powder for an open pistol? Burn rate charts lists it a bit on the slower side.
  13. That depends which caliber, got a 9x25 Dillon? 40 open
  14. I have an M&P 40 and have used the factory 9mm barrel in it...ran fine. The barrel hood is a tad smaller on the 9mm, so it fits the 40 (with a little slop). However, the 40 barrel hood is a tad too wide to fit a 9mm slide. Almost all other dimensions of the two barrels were the same. The 40-to-9mm conversion barrels have the 9mm bore with the width of the 40 hood. If you reload, why not just load 40 minor Instead of getting a new 9mm barrel and mags? Sure, reloading 40 may cost a little more but it'll take a good amount of shooting to go though the savings of not having to buy the 9mm barrel and mags.
  15. Load up the mag to max (20) capacity and see if the mag seats with one in the chamber. You don't need a full mag of dummy rounds but you should use dummy rounds for at least the one chambered and the first couple in the mag. If the mag seats completely, then rack the slide fully to eject the round and let it go to see if it chambers the first round in the mag. That's about all you could do without actually doing it live at a range. Generally, failures would be that the mag won't seat because there's no 'give' as the bullets/spring are fully compressed.
  16. I didn't have any out of battery issues with the stock striker and the 13lb ISMI recoil spring. However, the slide definitely had less tension when cocked. So, I was just playing around with the reduced power wolff spring to minimize any chances of that. Furthermore, I didn't want any potential accuracy issues with it not being locked up as long. Again, I didn't have any issues but was just trying some preventative measures. If I can get my hands on some Federal primers, I'd give the lightened spring another try. If I can get reliable ignition with the lightened striker spring, I'd probably stick with it unless it caused issues with something else

    40 Open

7gr WAC with the 155s seems high. What's your PF? I tried some Ibejihead 140gr but my KKM barrel doesn't like them. So, I'm currently using 6.4gr WAC with 155gr xtremes. I tried some 135gr Rainiers over 7.35gr WAC but it seems to push the muzzle down too much. It's sighted in properly as POI = POA when shot at rest but when I shoot offhand, the POI is 2" lower than POA. I thought it was me but when I tried the 155gr xtremes, POI = POA (rested and offhand). I'm also using CCI 550 small pistol magnum primers.
  18. Hi Jase. It seems like you're curling your strong arm and bringing the gun closer to you and dropping the gun down towards your chest level. Try keeping the gun high (at eye level) and just rotate the gun clockwise to see the magwell while keeping the muzzle fairly level. This would also help you get back on target faster. Good shooting BTW.
  19. I wasn't using the reduced power striker spring to reduce the trigger pull weight. Rather, my intention was to ensure the slide stays in battery when cocked as the striker spring counters the lighter 13lb recoil spring. I didn't have any issues but wanted to try to see if it would work. I ended up back with the factory striker spring and the gun runs fine. Maybe I'll try it again if I can get my hands on some Fed primers. Thanks
