  1. Just wanted to say hi and how much I've learned from this forum.
  2. I already have a c-more slide ride and a Burris FastFire 3. I would want to get mounts for those.
  3. I live in NJ and have a 15rd max capacity. No hi-cap 15round mags available and the 126mm are either 10rds or 17rds. As I wanted to try an open setup, I'm stuck with 10 rounds. So, I was thinking of open steel where the 10 rounders would be fine for static and knockdown. If I go with 10 rounders, there's no capacity benefit to getting an STI 2011 hi-cap frame. So, my question is would I be able to take my current 1911 9mm or 40S&W single stack frame, put an open top end and drill/tap for optic mount? I'm worried that the frame is a bit thin for the optic mount. Thoughts?
  4. I currently have an M&P40 FS for limited 10 and was wondering if you think it's worth it to sell it and upgrade to a 5" Pro model. Does the extra .75" help a lot? Probably lose about $200 in upgrading, but do you think it's worth it or should I just stick with mine?
  5. The cost factor isn't as much of an issue when you consider you can always sell it and get most of the costs back. For practice, getting a conversion or a 22 that's similar to your match pistol would be preferable. I have an M&P22 and it looks/feels the same as my M&P40 except the 40 is heavier.
  6. I just got my Spartan today. I wiped it down and went to the range...it shot great. 150 rounds of Fed Champion 115g without a hiccup. I wasn't going to change the springs until it broke in a bit but I noticed that the brass was only ejecting a foot or two away from me, so I went ahead and changed both the main and recoil springs. I compared the stock springs to a 9lb recoil and 17lb main (both Wolff springs) and the stock springs were definitely heavier. Also, the Woff recoil spring came with a firing pin spring. Should I change that too? Is it heavier or lighter than stock?
  7. I'm picking up a new 9mm Spartan 5" tomorrow and ordered some springs to fine tune it (after broken-in). I emailed STI and they told me the stock spring weights for a 9mm Spartan was 10lbs recoil and 15lbs hammer/mainspring. I questioned this and he confirmed the numbers. I thought the Spartan came with 12lb recoil and 19 main? From researching, the most common setup was 9lb recoil and 17lb main (which is what I was going to try first). For you 5" 9mm Spartan owners, what were your stock spring weights? I'll probably build a recoil spring tester.
