  1. Episode 2 was good as well....at least for now I'm going to tune this in weekly. Something to hold me over until the new season of "The Walking Dead" starts up.

Loved the line " A 10% tax on pastries, good lord the American Revolution began over a 2% tax. You people should be filling the streets in outrage!"...or something like that.

  2. Is not Blue Ridge the only 8 rounds max in the tube match left?

Task Force Dagger as well. I personally like having the different match rules. I use a 10 rd tube and always carry a plug that limits it to 8 rds. Set for everything.

Not to drift the thread but I personally think an all shotgun match (since it is all about the shotgun) should have tubes plugged at the 8 rd limit. What say you?

I think just you should have an 8 round limit.......wait, expand that to your kids as well

  3. No need to worry about a world record. I have a distraction planned. You know that stick that everyone thought was so funny in the last years match? (at my expense I might add) Well, y'all might want to be wearing a cup! Just sayin'

No wonder they don't want to let us know stage descriptions prior to the match. "Shooter ready"......."Stand by"...... Thud!!!, Oooogghhwwaaaarrrraahhhhaaaahhhhaaaahh

  4. I won't be at this match so the scoring certainly doesn't affect me, but....

If you want to do the thrown clay stage to honor the great Mr. Knapp, I would humbly suggest that the shooter get a bonus for throwing and breaking multiple clays—if you throw two and break both of them, maybe you get 3 points, not 2. If you throw three and break all three, you get 5 points—but if you break 2 you get 2 points. It would be kind of cool to give the shooters a reason to push for multiple birds.

    Just a random thought... :)

I will address this. Jomar in his above post did not describe how the stage will be run or the requirements placed on the shooter. That information will be released with the stage design in the match booklet.

    Jay

How am I supposed to practice these stages in my backyard with you being all "cloak and dagger" n' shit :P

I need all the help I can get.....

  5. Well another Midwest Championships is over and it was another great match. Ken, Larry and the RO's once again did an awesome job. Everything seemed to run super smooth and I don't recall seeing a single stage fall behind schedule. Big thanks to the sponsors and everyone who made this match happen.

Performance wise, for me personally this was a rough one. But at the same time, experience wise, it was one of the coolest matches I've ever attended. I owe a lot of that to my mates on squad 10, what a great bunch. Shooting with the Miller brothers, Hung, Will and Tim was a hoot. Congrats to both Kurt and Eric Miller for winning your divisions. You guys are both truly world class shooters and ambassadors to the sport. Was also great to see 20+ shooters from MN at the match. Congrats to our own Chris Cazin and Jomar Villamor for their division wins in HTO an HM.
Part of what really made this match memorable didn't even happen on the range. Spending the evenings hangin out at WJ's with the boys (Kurt, Eric, Benny, JK, Tim, Will, Hung, Jake, Austin) was epic. Sitting there listening to Eric, Kurt and Benny tell stories about the old SOF matches was as much a lesson in the history of 3-gun as it was hilarious entertainment.
Oh' and Benny.....if you make it up to MN for the shotgun match, I know of a place that makes great "cackle" :roflol:
Hope to see you all again soon........maybe in Sept even.

  6. The "other Miller" who won Tac Irons at CMMG also runs only a 9 round shotgun tube, and also used G.I. 30 round mags (yes the aluminum ones! The other Miller uses those fancy P-Mags....the up start.). I did run a STI 9mm but no girly scope so I guess we are even then! :D

Sorry to leave you out bud. Kurt is another example of a guy using basic gear and extraordinary skill to win matches  . Though using that STI is obviously an unfair advantage. The fact it can take down poppers at 1000 yards, shoot around corners and has self aligning sights with target seeking bullets, put's you in a whole nother class. I'm sure if I had a blaster like that I'd be winning every match I entered. I wouldn't even shoot the gun, I'd just drop it off at the stages and come back later to find out how awesome I did :roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol::roflol:

  7. Bryan nailed it. Just last weekend I watched Eric Miller win the CMMG Midwest Championships Tac-Optics class for the second year in a row with a Glock 17, a shotgun with a 9 round tube, standard 30 round AR mags  . Years of experience, stage savvy and phenomenal shooting skills mean a lot more than what kind of gear you're running.

That said I'll take any advantage I can get with gear to make up for my lack of experience, stage savvy and phenomenal shooting skills :goof:

  8. There will be five of us there from Brownells. All on Squad two so I apologize in advance to the rest of the squad. Bringing three newbies along, so be patient with us. When you see the shirt, make sure to say hello. Anyone remember the name and location of the good restaurant/bar (maybe South side) in Fayette. I remember they had a bike night advertised, if that clue helps. Nice place, good food, owner was a great guy.

I may be off, but I think it was called "Hogs n' Heffers".

  9. Benny.....the plan is Mexican on thursday, Crablegs at the Casino on friday, and the fillet at JK's on Saturday night. I'll be doing reservations at JK's next week.

    Tim

This sounds awesome Tim. My wife doesn't really care for mexican or crab legs, so I rarely get it myself. One thing to be said about going to matches with you....Even if I don't shoot good, pretty sure I'm going to eat good. As impossible as it seems, I think I actually gained weight at Blue Ridge last fall.

  10. What did you have to do the most work on? Did you use sandpaper or file? If sandpaper what grit were you using? Going to order mine this Thursday did you (or any else above) order any other parts to help reduce the trigger pull weight?

I asked this question down on the PRP site but I'm sure they are busy so I will ask it here.

On there site is says the Ultimate match trigger comes with the reduced trigger spring but on their site they offer a competition trigger spring for 5.95. Is this the spring that comes in the kit or would this be an upgrade to reduce the trigger weight?

I had to do some fitting on the sear for the grip safety and also take a touch off the side of the sear for it too rotate freely. You also have to fit the over-travel stop on the trigger itself. I used a combination of 180 and 320 sandpaper on an aluminum block and a stone for the work on the sear. I also polished up the sides with a Cratex wheel in the dremel. For the over-travel I just used sandpaper as it's only plastic. Fitting the over-travel took more time than anything. I was careful not to take too much off at once, so I bet I had that thing apart 5 times before I got it right. Then I did the freezer test (which is a must here in MN) and got to do it 2 more times. I was surprised at how much material had to be removed. Once done it was worth it though. Night and day difference from the stock trigger.

  11. Well I got my PRP Ultimate match trigger installed. About all I can say is it's only half the trigger it used to be. Half the pull weight, half the pull length and less than half the over-travel. It's pretty friggen sweet!

There was some fitting involved, but nothing serious or difficult. My starting pull weight measured on a Lyman digital scale was 6lbs 10oz. Now it's 3lbs 4oz and barely even feels like a striker fired gun. Two thumbs up from this guy!!
