  1. All I can say to all parties involved is Bravo! This was probably the funnest match I've ever shot, even though I sucked big time. If you didn't find yourself challenged in some way at this match, you're Superman. Great stages, with all kinds of unique props, shooting positions and target presentations, all run like a Swiss watch. Huge thanks to the match staff, sponsors and Forest Lake Sportsmen's Club for bringing it all together. Minnesota can without doubt, once again be called home to one of the premier matches in the country.
  2. WJ's in Booneville was good, as was the company. When we were down in MO this spring for the M3GC, Tim Ubl, Jay Carillo and myself made it to a great place called Baxter's down by the Lake of the Ozarks. The calamari and steak were excellent, as was the service.
  3. In my own non-existent perfect world Practiscore designs their own nook that spits out a printed "receipt" upon hitting the save button. How awesome would that be......
  4. You can do everything in that video and more using the JP springs and a $0.35 ¹/⁴x 28 set screw. For it to come out acceptable in my book you need to fit the sefety and disconnector.
  5. Please explain how a new extractor is going to fix a FTF problem?
  6. I'm hoping to sign up for the "Throws rock" division. Maybe "Throws heavy rock" depending on who signs up and if I have a better chance of winning.
  7. Is the trigger functioning correctly with the upper removed? Is the disconnector catching the hammer? The pre-travel adjustment on the Jard triggers is very sensitive, 1/16 of a turn too much and the trigger sear won't catch the hammer.
  8. It's pretty easy to do without a jig IMHO. Get your gas block set up where it needs to be and the rifle is functioning properly. Take one screw out and use a transfer punch to mark your dimple location. Tighten that screw back up, and repeat on your second screw. Remove GB and dimple barrel on drill press. Please note I said transfer punch, not center punch. There's a big difference. That said I prefer to use clamp on blocks.
  9. Unless you already have the handguard, I'd look into other options since AP is no longer in business.
  10. I've got a Vortex Spitfire sitting in the safe. It looks really nice, but I haven't put it on a rifle to shoot yet. It's still cold and miserable here and my range is still covered in snow. Soon I hope.
  11. Second season on mine without any issues.
  12. This is great! I was enduring my wife's work Christmas party when I first saw this announcement on FB. I was so excited I had to leave the room to fist pump and hi five myself. To the nay-sayer's. The same guys that put on a great shotgun match, will also put on a GREAT 3-gun match. Just with 3X the fun. I wouldn't be shocked if this match breaks the all time record for filling up. Glad I finally made it to the early registration group The DPMS Tri-Gun got shut down right before I started shooting and not having a major 3 gun match anywhere in the upper midwest has left a void. That void was partially filled with the Nordic Components Shotgun Championships, but I still always hoped it would come back. Am I happy that one had to fall for another to rise. No, but it is what it is.
  13. That's the same Ceiner style conversion I'm using, except I'm using a dedicated .22 barrel instead of the chamber adapter. I'd recommend trying the Taccom enhanced firing pin, and see if that solves your problems.
  14. Google search comes up short on a SARK conversion, but I'm using a CMMG Ceiner style conversion and dedicated 1-16 twist .22 barrel. Swap the barrel out and drop in a standard BCG and it would fire 5.56.
  15. Interesting. I've got a dedicated .22 AR that I built a couple years ago very similar to your set up and I've never had a light strike issue. Mil spec trigger with a set screw through the grip threads to set sear engagement. Then welded up the front of the trigger to take out the overtavel, bobbed the hammer and used JP light springs. For a $12 trigger, I can't really ask it to be any better and it sets off every round I put through it.
  16. I actually used a soldering iron to burn the holes, but yes...only where they are needed. I was using the same Taccom caddies with Tec-loks before making the switch to ELS clips. So I already knew where I wanted my caddies to be in relation to the belt.
  17. Here's a post I made last winter when I changed my belt set-up and converted my CR Speed belt over to ELS clips (on the shotgun caddies anyways). I've got pretty much a full season it now and zero complaints. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=210623&hl=
  18. My 18" rifle weighs 9.5 lbs with optic, but it's been benched for the most part the last couple years for a 6 lb 16" lightweight rig.
  19. Here's my take on it after my first time in attendance. The good: The general concept of the match is awesome. What you guys are doing for the junior shooters out there is nothing short of amazing. Seeing that many junior shooters at a major match is like chicken soup for the soul. Great location. It's nice having the range close to an area that has so many hotel and dining options. We stayed at the Scottish Inn and while the place was a little dated, it was clean with good housekeeping and the rate was only $50 a night. Plus it was a two story, walk out motel, so it was easy to get gear in and out of the room. I see no reason to look elsewhere if I make it back next year. For dining we ate at Bootleggers, Bandanna's Barbecue and the bar and grill right by the range (the name escapes me). All were excellent and reasonably priced. The range. I love natural terrain matches and this being my first time at this range didn't disappoint. I am extremely glad we opted to take a truck instead of a car to the match though. The offset in fuel cost was well worth not leaving parts from a low slung vehicle all over the range. Really good, fun and creative stages. A bit of a bummer that the lake stage got tossed, but it sounds like Chad and company are already working on a solution to fix it for next year. Great RO's. Some of the best in fact. Recruiting RO's that are there to help the competitors have an enjoyable experience is paramount to any matches success. It was good to see a lot of same crew that used to RO Midwest at the CMMG range. The gathering before the awards was fun and the catering was pretty good. Thanks for the free beer also.......free beer always tastes better! Miss Dalton's rendition of our National Anthem was one of the coolest things I've seen at a match. What an amazingly talented young lady! The could be better section: Edited to send privately.
  20. For 3 gun, I love my JP triggers, but for a precision, long range rifle, it's without a doubt the Jard adjustable trigger. Pull weight can be taken down to 1.5 lbs with zero creep. Down side is they are more complex to properly install than all the modular trigger groups listed in previous posts, but if you want close to a benchrest quality trigger in an AR, it's the only one I've found.
  21. I was pretty bummed with the series finale as well. I've watched every episode from the beginning and and having a rush to the the end like that, was a let down for sure. They needed to at least give them a few episodes for the final battle. The kill the queen and all the other aliens just explode concept was lame as hell.
  22. I have to admit that .243 seems an odd choice for this rifle. It's a caliber you see that much interest in any more. Tends to be too hot and barrels don't last. The most popular cartridge right now in the PRS matches is the 6CR, the .243 Winchester is about the closest commercial cartridge available to match it. If I could only own one rifle, the .243 would be a strong contender. With projectile weights ranging from 55gr to 115gr, it can do just about anything.
