  1. Cheers I have made my own brew once and found it very rewarding. This post just reminds me of the wait and the happiness of taking that first sip. You should take a photo of your setup.
  2. I love my suunto watch and it held up during a deployment too! You can fin one that meats your criteria. G-shock is another good brand. I have a g-shock mud that I haven't wore once that I'd be looking to sell if you interested. (just have to find it lol)
  3. hax

I know your out now but,Were you ever stationed in Hawaii?

  4. I am having a delima on which mag to purchase. I have a limited and an open top end 2011 gun on order and tying to procure mags. The grip is an SVI metal grip. What should I choose? Does the SNL from Dawson even make the tape? Trying to save as much as I can Thank you very much This question is more for my limited in 40 but if you have any other suggestion for this or a mag built for open let me hear them Thank you
  5. If they are built anything like their acogs, they will hold up to a lot of abuse.
  6. Is there any other store, besides SVI directly, that sells the new SVI mags? I'm a cheap SOB and like to shop for the best price around Thank you FYI I have a gun being built with a SVI metal grip so I have heard I need the SVI mags so the mag release lines up and the mag functions properly
  7. Looks like a high price prototype. When are you gonna start selling them lol.
  8. Have you tried switching out your springs and bcg's from the other rifle?
  9. I have noticed that some rounds slide into my case gauge almost all the way but get hung up toward being fully seated-this is caused by the bullet being seated at a slight angle If you are using once fired brass you can always have a bulge at the base of your brass - you can use a u die to correct But what your saying about the case mouth flare sounds like you maybe flaring your cases too much. They should have just a slight flare on them. I'm far from an expert but I am also starting out reloading and these are some things I've noticed that might help
  10. Do you have a case gauge or are you just using your barrel?
  11. It's French and it means: It is a term made in fencing when you acknowledge the opponent made a point.
  12. Let me know if I'm understanding you right mark. Your saying that with a lightened bolt carrier you want less weight but more area to make contact? If this is true then why on 1911's do we not have the rails tightened at .001 the whole length of the frame? Usually gunsmiths try to releave some metal around the mag area so that it only has front and back lock up and less friction. But maybe I'm wrong with the whole 1911 reason. I have never messed around with a lightened carrier.
  13. I would say practice sports you can alway load a random spent round in your mag when you go to the range Slap mag Pull charging handle Observe chamber Release charging handle Tap forward bolt assist Squeeze trigger Ready-up drills help with faster target acquisitions Work on trigger pull on rifle with a dowel stick in your barrel and a dime sitting on the dowel This is what the military teaches
  14. A compensator makes a big difference. What's right for some isn't right for all so i can't really tell you which way to go as there are too many choices, but the right compensators make a day and night difference in felt recoil.
  15. I am going down the same road as you. I picked the SVI stainless steal signature grip. I think there are to many choices of grips and textures from SVI. I was hung up on which grip to get for over a month. I decided to get the aggressive texture and have Matt buff on it a little bit so it isn't too sharp. Good luck on what you decide. I still haven't shot a gun with a SVI metal grip. Decisions, decisions lol Edited to add: everyone I spoke to said the aluminum grips are more for carry guns or guns that will not be shot as much as comp guns
  16. Have you tried to call him? There is some info I found here http://www.bbb.org/oklahoma-city/business-reviews/guns-and-gunsmiths/curtis-custom-gun-shop-in-el-reno-ok-9001549
  17. Please share when you do find the 2011 that isn't custom with this option. Now you got me thinking. I haven't heard anything from STI.
  18. Acetone would strip off any type of protective surface off the metal and probably make it corrode. Can't talk on how well the hornady works but I would suggest some kind of lube on a metal surface even if it's a sealant.
  19. Pretty much any custom gunsmith can fit 2 slides to a frame. I'm haveing one built right now from ccgunworks
  20. Thank you very much. When I used the search function nothing came up. Did you have them head space it to your bolt? I think I might give them a try!
  21. That's too cool. Looks like the pic from 1911 speed shop http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=142484 but better!
