  1. Does any one know of a supplier here in OZ for the Quinn bracket? Can it be ordered and mailed from the US or will Homeland Security crack a fit over it?
  2. G'day lads. Sorry for the absence. A quick update with the Tanfoglio; I imported a complete Henning custom flat trigger kit just before their Home Land Security shut everything down. Shoots like a jet now! 2.8lb trigger pull & the trigger is as crisp as an icicle! With regards to the barrel & compensator, I got cold feet. I watched one of our club members go down this path and it resulted in a Pandora's box of drama. I decided to go the way of adding a whole new pistol to the stable and ordered an STI Edge in 38 super through Peter Muscrat. I had to wait a few months and pay quite a bit more than the cost of a barrel and compensator but it has been a pure joy since she arrived! The Tanfoglio; well I'll take it out one day.....
  3. Recently received a beautiful custom Edge from an Australian gunsmith. Trigger job, grips, sights, extended mag release, hard chrome finish. Very bummed, however. 5 of the 6 mags are so tight when loaded that they won't feed the rounds.
  4. G'day fellas. Recently received a new custom sti edge with 6 brand new mags. I asked the gentleman who did the custom work to tune the mags for me. However, he assured me that they all ran smooth. They don't! The rounds are so tight in the mags that the slide has to be racked 2 - 3 times on the first 6 rounds before they'll chamber. The rounds are so tight that the brass is being scarred by the guide rails. Before I send them back I'd appreciate some advice. Cheers

  6. Very tidy pistol mate. I hope you guys in the states realise how fortunate you are to have access to so many quality and purpose trained gunsmiths.
  7. As I said in my intro, I'm currently shooting a Tanfoglio Gold Eric Custom 2010 in 38 Super in the major power factor division. As the Tanfoglio shooters amongst us would know, this pistol is referred to as the V12 model due to the 8 ports along the barrel and 4 portings on the compensator. There are only 2 vertical gas chambers that have been cut in the compensator as a result of all of the porting. Due to all of the porting prior to the compensator, it is relatively small in comparison to STI and SV compensators. The down side to all of the porting is the result it has on reloading for major power factor. To make the bare cut off for major power factor I am loading a minumum of 8.8 grains of ADI 's AP100. To load too much higher results in broken slide pins - the Henning hardened slide pin has resolved that drama. My solution to the problem and to reduce the load pressures is to rebarrel the pistol with an unported barrel and attach a better compensator similar to the Brazo Thundercomp. Can anyone tell me if they have modified their Tanfoglio's along these lines or if they have installed after market compensators? Can any one identify a supplier in the US/Eurpoe that manufactures Tanfoglio specific compensators? Can any one put me in contact with a gunsmith in Australia that will work on Tanfoglios? Regards, Meat Pie
  8. Hey, I'm in the process of getting an STI edge built for IPSC standard. Has anyone tried the Blade Tech 'dropped & offset holster' for the an STI pistol?
  9. Thanks lads, very appreciated. I'll let you know if I go down that path.
  10. G'day all. I have a C-more sight mounted on my Tanfoglio. However, I have been toying with the idea of trying an Aimpoint scope. I've been looking at the T1 or the Comp C3. Obviously there are serious cost/weight differences between these sights. But with regards to "tube" sights, I've been told that the dot can be acquired much quicker. I've also been advised that they're not as finicky to sight in as the C-more. I'd appreciate any and all sound opinions.
  11. I couldn't agree more! Every round loaded by another shooter is a potential pandora's box of disaster.
  12. Install a complete Henning flat trigger system.
  13. Been shooting IPSC for nearly 2 years now at a club level. Keen to get some away competitions under my belt but the work roster is the biggest hand break on that idea. Currently shooting with a Tanfoglio Custom Eric, C-more sight, Sprinco recoil system and a Henning flat trigger system. Thoroughly enjoying the articles in the forum.
  14. best to clean them before use (ie - above suggestion). your cases should be as clean as possible prior to loading and use within a fire arm. I've found that corn cob media seems to clean better and last longer (IMO). When dust residue begins to build from prolonged use, simply empty out the media into a sealed bag (pillow case works well) and chuck it in the washing machine or a soaking tub, rinse clean and dry. It comes out good as gold.
  15. An old roo-shooter told me that due to the rigidity of the nickel plated cases, they deliver marginally higher velocities. However, the failure rate (neck splitting) of nickel is much higher due to its brittleness as opposed to the tensile qualities of brass.
  16. the dust build up is usually a sign that the tumbler needs a clean out and the media needs to be washed.
  17. Can any1 tell me if there's a gunsmith in Qld that does hard chroming for pistols? PS very nice pistol mate! I'm currently getting a custom edge made by Peter Muscrat for standard division...
