  1. It would probably be less of a headache to try the SV Scott's grip (competition and compact). That grip is covered in grip tape and is not much bigger around than a standard 1911. My fiance' is asleep, but I will post some measurements tomorrow.
  2. Left to right 38 Super, 40 S&W, 45 ACP
  3. I shoot a 5" bushing barrel .40 in ESP with the SV magwell. I had a guy at a sanctioned match try to bust me for it, but it fits in the box, he just stood there with an "I'll be damned" look on his face as I walked away with a smug look on mine.
  4. I'm so close to buying an SV Airsoft, I can't think of anything more fun than being in a hotel room banging the hell outta some aluminum pie pans with it.
  5. I'm just looking to see what kind of drills you guys are using for practice and what your times are.
  6. I'm still fuzzy on my IPSC scoring, but 2.08 all six shots in the -0 on an IDPA target, I figure the A zone on a USPSA target covers a larger area, but not by much.
  7. No conflict for me the IDPA national's will be held about 2 hours away from my house.
  8. Anyone know what the stock recoil spring weight for an SV 40 5" short dust cover gun is? I am looking to go down a pound or two, but don't know where to start and I have a match tomorrow!!! (Edited by cardboardkiller at 9:00 pm on Jan. 18, 2003)
  9. I got my new slide stop today and it works like a champ. I put it in the gun and worked it a few times so I could make a dimple to make sure that the plunger would have a place to rest and hold it in place and polished the rear so the plunger could glide smoothly.
  10. If I turn in a poor performance I don't expect anything. If I turn in a great performance I don't expect anything but a trophy, plaque or even a ribbon. Those things last longer and mean more to me than something else to clutter up my bench. I won't turn anything down, but I don't worry about the money I may get at a match, if I did this would be a job and I already have 2 of those.
  11. He means that don't have good prizes. Some people that shoot don't get turned on at a match unless there are nice prizes to take home. Sad but true.
  12. The clubs I shoot at have been sticking to the "reload as needed" theory for course description and unless you are damn fast at a tac load or rwr, you are cancelling your chances of winning. With the limited amount of movement between arrays of targets from my experience most of the time, not all, it benefits you to run your gun dry and then reload. Every gamer has his own philosophy though.
  13. Mmmmm.....bull barrels are not allowed unless they are 4 inches or less.
  14. I went ahead and zipped the rest of the shelf off of the old slide stop with the dremel to completely eliminate slide lock, bad idea?
  15. Bob was right, I finally got back home from work and had a chance to shoot a match with a friend of mine that owns an SV. We compared the two slide stops together and the shelf on mine has been cut way shorter than his. I have a new one that should be here thursday and I will commence the fitting process. Any tips? I have an Arkansas stone, duh, I think it is state law that every household own one, a dremel and some other light gunsmithing tools.
  16. Do they even make a nonramped barrel for 40 anymore? I think they may have gone the way of the nonramped 38 super barrel, the manufacturers finally figured out that the casings on both of these calibers need more support do to the higher pressures developed. If you do find a nonramped and decide to go with it, do not use Glock fired brass.
  17. A five shot group at 50 yards that measures 1 1/4" with factory cor-bon ammo, sounds like perfect accuracy. My understanding is that the loose fluted chamber allows the gas to flow more uniformly along with the progressive twist rifling of the barrel keeps the bullet more stable. A friend of mine has a 9mm with a test target that measures .472 at 50 yards, he can shoot 8'"plates at 50 yards all day long. The AET system must work, if not they wouldn't sell and SV wouldn't jeapordize their reputation with them, call and get the lead time on one of their true Limited pistols if you don't believe me.
  18. Just get a Schuemann AET barrel, they are so loose you can run with whatever you end up, I'm new to loading 40 and it is still quite spooky to me to be using "Glocked up" brass, any thoughts on the AET barrels and the aforementioned brass? My brass won't pass the case gage, but run like a champ in my SV.
  19. This thread is starting to read like the IPSC/USPSA rule book itself.
  20. I don't believe I'll ever shoot a match outside of the US, I'd be a nervous wreck wondering what kind of underpaid mongrel was pawing at my gun case, that looks like a camera case and thinking, "I wonder how much this is worth?"
  21. The Miculek grips seem to be the most comfortable I've tried. (Edited by cardboardkiller at 12:33 am on Dec. 27, 2002)
  22. Ummm......USPSA is the United States chapter of IPSC unless I am mistaken, someone correct me if I am wrong. (Edited by cardboardkiller at 10:12 pm on Dec. 26, 2002)
  23. 5 months after I returned some stuff to them I still cannot reach them to use my credit or get a refund. My credit card company says that I had to have filed a dispute with them within 60 days after the incident, so I'm out $240 and don't have my return shipping slip to prove that I even sent the box, so I cannot file any charges against them. From now on I'm doing all my ordering through Brian. (Edited by cardboardkiller at 4:13 pm on Dec. 26, 2002)
  24. It does not appear to be recognized by IPSC, but it is recognized by the USPSA.
