  1. I've tried the 22 and the 35, and I like the 35 more, particularly for Limited and IDPA SSP. I understand that the main difference is the longer sight radius that you mention, so aside from that, the main difference might be psychological for me. Stupid question: why wouldn't you shoot the G35 for Production? If you make some soft 135 power factor loads, you can shoot the 35 for Production -- and it would shoot softer than the G34. Or, shoot Major / factory ammo, and blast away in Limited. Now, if I had to just use one gun for both carry and competition, I'd get the 23 (I know it's not one of your options), and if not that, then the 22. Just my two cents.
  2. Let us know how it goes. Billy's a great guy who knows his stuff and stands by his products. You should soon be good to go.
  3. Call Billy Lester at Jager, tell him your setup, and he'll advise you on what spring weight you'll need per your setup.
  4. You need to jack up your pf to 135 or more, as well as switch to a weaker recoil spring. i had similar issues before, and doing both fixed my problems. if you search for my posts + "recoil spring", you'll see the posts people submitted along those lines to help me out Good luck
  5. Hey Kyle, Are there even IDPA matches in Ohio? I thought that there weren't and that most folks who shoot IDPA head on over to Michigan for any IDPA Major matches. I think IPSC/USPSA is what most shooters in OH are into. Just wondering.
  6. LOL!!! I love how IPSC trains you to shoot fast and faster. I love how IDPA trains you to shoot smart/defensively. I also like Steel for how it helps you improve target to target acquisition -- which I recall Brian writing in his book as being the one skill that distinguishes the great shooters from the good ones. I've never shot bulls-eye, but I can see how rapid-fire bulls-eye can help you kick some serious tail in strong-hand-only stages. Regardless of your "primary" action pistol sport, I believe cross-training in the other action pistol sports can only help you become a better shooter. And, you might have fun too. Just my two cents.
  7. Thanks for the info, G-Man. A couple of follow up questions: 1) Were these accuracy problems from years ago, or are they still on-going? From what I understand, Berrys double-strikes every bullet these sounds, and I thought that that eliminated the accuracy inconsistencies. 2) Where's the cheapest place to buy Hornady 180gr HAPs? Cheers. They're terribly expensive for what you get, and many people have had major accuracy problems with them (along with pretty much any plated bullet). Right now the cheapest price I know of for Berry's is TJ Conevera, at $110/K for the 155s mentioned above. You can get Precision Delta 165gr FMJs for $113/K, or Montana Gold 155gr JHPs for $105/K (have to buy a case of 3K), or their 155gr FMJs for $2 less per case of 3K. For absolute accuracy, in a bulk bullet, I've found Hornady 180gr HAPs are the best. I use either Zero 180gr JHPs or Montana Gold 180gr JHPs for practice, and local matches, the HAPs for major matches. R,
  8. Yep, I get the double struck. Berrys is what Atlanta Arms use on all their ammo, which is what a lot of pros use, so I got Berrys. I was actually surprised that it comes out comparably priced if not cheaper than other bullets like Montana. I'll still try to caliper what I have - doesn't hurt to check, after all.
  9. Hey Kevin, Will shooting Bayou / plastic bullets gunk up a barrel more than, less than, or the same as shooting plated bullets? I've only shot Berrys total copper jacket bullets, as I don't want to have to deal with lead / gunk in my G35. I'm thinking of switching to Bayou since it's cheaper; however, if it'll gunk up my barrel more than plated bullets, I'll just stick to Berrys -- I like only having to clean my barrel every thousand or so rounds. Thanks!

    Only ONE GLOCK

Tell me about it! I was trawling the Glock forum, as I'm looking for a .40 Glock for everyday-carry (I have only one gun these days: a Gen4 G35), when I came upon this thread. I just dropped a thank-you to everyone who had posted their thoughts, and I guess my post inadvertently bump-resurrected the thread. Now, after having read everyone's posts, I'm tempted to get TWO Glocks for CCW purposes: a G23 (supposed to be easier to carry than a G22) and a G27 (for ankle holster purposes).

    Only ONE GLOCK

This makes sense. I have a G35, which I got since it'll allow me to shoot IPSC/USPSA and IDPA. I'm thinking of getting one for CCW, and I was leaning towards the G23 - small enough for CCW, and decently-sized enough so that, in case my G35 fails on me during a match, it'll allow me to finish the match in much better shape than a G27. Appreciate all the other posts.
  12. The first thing I would check would be the barrel (e.g., is it gunked up with lead), then I'd go through the items mentioned in this thread: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75778&hl=advanced%20armorer&st=0
  13. You can try asking glockstore.com if they have any in stock.
  14. Thanks for the info, Kyle! I've been researching Glock armorer's courses, and this is a wealth of great info.
  15. Thanks to everyone who's voted so far. Based on ~125 votes: 1) Bar-Sto looks like the best barrel for providing chamber support and reliability. Everyone who's tried a Bar-Sto - even if they've tried other barrels - believe it's the best. 2) Of the folks who've tried a KKM barrel, 75% think it's the best when it comes to chamber support and reliability. Thus, 1 in every 4 people who've tried KKM thinks that there's a better barrel in the market. 3) Of the folks who've tried a Lone Wolf barrel, only around half think it's the best when it comes to chamber support and reliability. Bar-Sto, KKM, and Lone Wolf are ranked in the same way that they're priced: the most expensive one, the Bar-Sto, gets the highest ratings, while the Lone Wolf, the cheapest of the three, is also the least reliable. KKM is in the middle with regard to price and performance. This is great because if you’re willing to spend more, you’ll get a better barrel (vs other products where the most expensive brand isn’t always the best product). I’ve bought a KKM based on the results of this poll, so I’m already putting your input to use. Thanks again to everyone!
  16. Thanks man. I appreciate the thought. As much as possible, I wanted and want to stick to OEM parts, especially as I shoot IDPA, but I decided to go ahead and get a KKM while I sorted this thing out with Glock. Hopefully there is a forum member near you who is a Glock armorer who can handle that for you. I'm a bit far away from you or I would offer my services.
  17. I called Glock about it weeks ago, and they too were surprised. They would only talk about replacing it if I were a Glock armorer, which I'm not. I've actually tried to sign up for a Glock armorer course, but I can't find a class that fits my schedule.
  18. Just did another round of chronos yesterday. My KKM is definitely around 10 PF or more faster than my Glock G35 OEM. The Para shoots out the same ammo 20 PF stronger than the G35 OEM, and 10 PF stronger than the KKM. I'm starting to wonder if maybe my G35 G4 OEM barrel is even partially defective. Attached are my chrono results using an F-1 chrono.
  19. Attached are my chrono results using 155, 165, and 180 grain Berrys with Titegroup and with VV N320, OAL of 1.125 (and one batch of 1.129), in case they'd be helpful.
  20. Just an update: I've rechronoed some loads out of my Glock using the OEM barrel and an a KKM barrel I just got one around a week ago. Comparing power factors, I was surprised to see that my Glock Gen 4 OEM barrel chronoed at around: 10 PF weaker than the KKM barrel 20 PF weaker than the Para! No wonder my brass wasn't ejecting out properly in the videos -- the PF in those rounds out of my Glock OEM was around 115, as they were chronoing at around 135 out of the Para! Lesson from me to not assume so much consistency in velocity out of different barrels.
  21. What ammo were you shooting? My Glock 35 Gen4 does this quite a bit when I shoot major loads. Today, for example, around 10 of 120 factory Aguila rounds I shot plunked me on the forehead.

    N320 G35

Most people seem to be loading their ammo long for the G35 (i.e., above 1.125). Sorry if this sounds stupid, but why not just load less powder and stick to the SAAMI spec of 1.125 or 1.126? Wouldn't that feed better?
  23. Hey Duane, I saw this pic a few weeks ago. It's not the same thing as physically inspecting them though.
  24. I just wanted to thank everyone who has voted so far. So far, it looks like everyone who's used a Bar-Sto thinks it's the best in terms of chamber support and feeding reliability. KKM and Lone Wolf are pretty close to each other. Would be good to see how the numbers/results change as more people vote.
