  1. Thanks for all the replies. I will load them up and leave them for a couple days and then see if they work. I agree with 3DJedi - It sucks that brand new factory mags need to be fixed (aka "tuned"). I don't have the ability or desire to do that. Guess will have to find someone in the area that can work on mags.
  2. Just got some brand new 126mm STI 2011 mags. On all three the follower is popping out of the tube. It is extremely difficult to push back into the body and then doesn't stay down. Seems like the feed lips aren't tight enough to keep it in. Will loading the mag with ammo and leaving for a couple days fix it? Won't the follower pop out again? Even if the ammo holds down the follower when loaded, what about when the mag runs dry? Would the follower possibly get yanked out by the slide? I am new to 2011's (been shooting the plastic pistols for a while) so I am very unfamilier with these.
  3. I didn't think about changing out the slide stop assembly. Good idea. It sure does take a beating. BUT, I have a Burwell trigger job and I think there is some material welded to the slide stop assembly that helps the trigger take-up. I'll have to look agin and verify.
  4. Old thread that I am reviving I've have had the same issue with the slide not locking back. Has been happening much more frequently lately - almost every time now. Could partially be grip but I haven't changed my grip in the past few months. Any other possible issues? I only shoot factory and it happens with all brands. Could it be a spring? Gun has probably 6000 rounds. Anyone tried the fix JohnRodriguez described above?
  5. I just saw that these are finally available !!! I'll be getting one next month. Bud's has them for $1330 Really like that they come with all the chokes. I currently have a Berreta 1301 and I'm looking forward to comparing the loading and recoil between the two.
  6. I sent STI an email last week inquiring if they thought it would be ESP legal. Have not received a reply yet. Will post here if/when I do.
  7. Quoted from the STI Rep on another forum:Barrel: 5.11 STI Bushing Barrel, Ramped, Fully Supported So it would be IDPA ESP legal. Great info. The STI website said bull barrel and I was confused. Glad a STI rep clarified it. Thanks for killing my savings account
  8. Would the Marauder be legal for IDPA ESP? It doen't have a bushing barrel.
  9. Do we have to know what "lagniappe" means in order to shoot the match ?
  10. Maybe that is why my XL cap has been on back order with Midway for 2 months. Damn, was hoping not to have to buy a new tube.
  11. I couldn't find anyone that could drill and tap for the second screw. Tape won't hold because of the rib irregularities. So I used the front screw and zip-tied the back. Has worked well, even through the Texas Multi-Gun match. Eventually I'll find someone that can tap it, until then, I like the look of the zip tie
  12. It goes bang and makes holes in paper. Just make sure you are close, because at 200 yds the holes are far apart.
  13. The previous comments mirror my experience. Ordered my recent JP rifle in January and got it this week. Plus, it seems like they really gave a damn through this recent period. They really worked hard to take care of their customers.
  14. OK, you talked me into it. I'm going to get the Vortex scope. Now I just need a mount. What is the preferred mount for this scope with the proper eye relief? I was going to get the JP mount but am concerned that it may not have enough offset. Tell me what to buy ! Thanks. -trey
  15. I have a 930 but not the JM version (wasn't out when I bought mine). Was having hell getting slugs to hit where I wanted. Got the Hi-Viz Four-in-One sights with the tall front sight and it now shoots perfectly.
  16. Thanks Tim. That is exactly the type of info I needed! I appreciate the lesson. I need to start closer (25 yards). Then work back from there. The spacer kit fixed the LOP and enabled me to get the proper sight picture. Now I just need to learn to shoot it. Birdshot is easy. I rarely miss. But slugs are an entirely different measuring stick. I may post back for more help. Thanks again.
  17. Here is what I have found. First, I discovered that my shotgun didn't "fit" me. I was looking down at the top of the rib and therefore couldn't ever line up properly. There is supposed to be a spacer kit included with each Mossburg shotgun. Mine didn't so I had to order one from Mossberg and they charged me for it. I put the spacers in to lengthen the LOP. This made a huge difference and now when I mount the gun it "fits" me great. I'm looking straight down the ribs, not too low, not too high. Get the spacer/shim kit if you don't have it! The other thing I did was to take off the rear 2-dot turkey sight. It wouldn't line up properly because it sticks up too high. Using just the front bead is sufficient. I got a cheap laser bore sighter and from what I can tell the barrel is straight and the laser points at the same point as the bead. So I'm convinced the gun is fine. The problem lies with me. Shotguns just fit different and aim different that rifles do! I have shot a couple dozen slugs with it since and it is much better. At 50 yards at least I can hit within a foot of where I want. At 100 yards though I can't consistently hit a big piece of cardboard. Not sure where the problem is. Does anyone know if the slug is rising or falling between 50 and 100 yards? Thats my update. Hope it helps and let me know what tips you can offer back. Thanks.
  18. Ha! No RV hook-ups but you are welcome to join me at the range anytime ! I'd love to have any Enos forum guys out here.
  19. +1 I have found that the extractor is the best place for gunk to build up and start causing problems. Seems worse on an M&P than other guns but that could just be me.
  20. It is SO cheap to try a different connector and it is SO subjective, that you really need to just drop one (or several) different connectors in and see which you like best. That said, I my experience is:
  21. Made a shooting bench. I intended it to be just for short-range sight-in of AR's but it is much more stable than I thought and may be used for long-range or precision rifle shooting. Especially since it can be moved easily. Made top out of plywood and then put 4 coats of varnish on. Base and legs are steel tube. The legs are angled out and are very stable and don't get in the way.
