  1. I've already got an A2 comp. Guess I'll hang onto it!
  2. I think that might be a yes. David E. hah... That's what I really needed to know Of course I get mad at the indoor range when I get stuck next to a guy with a .44 mag with a laser on it shooting at Zombie targets that are 10 feet away. That happened to me...and on a day when I was only shooting .22
  3. I have a 3GunGear Sidesaddle (the Velcro one) and a couple of CCW 6 Round Strippers. When loading from the stripper I tend to bump the Sidesaddle. If I'm going to load 3 or 4 at a time should I ditch the Sidesaddle or should I work on my technique? I was considering using the sidesaddle for Slugs. IN that case I could likely go with just 4 slugs on the sidesaddle (7 now) and that might keep it out of my way. Thoughts?
  4. I have a Miculek coming in the mail. Keep reading comments about how loud they are and how you wouldn't want to be next to some one at the Range using one etc... Does the Comp actually make it louder or does it just project the same loudness to the sides instead of downrange? Just wondering if I were to take my AR to say an Appleseed shoot, am I jerk for using a Comp all day?
  5. I'm going to check with a local Steel supplier to see what I can get. Does anyone have pics of some Shepherd Crooks Targets they can post? I like the idea of being able to set different heights of crooks up and easily make a nice target array. The Targets for sale posted earlier in this thread look fun too
  6. I'm in Nashville, TN. I could check with my local Gunsmith to see what he would charge. I like to tinker and like to learn by working on things but I don't have aspirations of being a gunsmith.
  7. What do you use for Shotgun practice targets? I have a place I can go every now and then and would like to come up with some reusable targets.
  8. I haven't found good clear information for what has to changed to switch over to free float. If I start researching now maybe I'll understand it when need arises
  9. It has a standard A2 Handguard. I have zero experience on AR so I have no preferences yet. I figure I will wait until I can outshoot the rifle to worry about floating the Handguard. And also waiting to see how I grow into the 20" HBAR
  10. OK.... Olympic Arms 20" HBAR 1/9 A2 Compensator A3 Upper with Detachable Handle (Peep sights) Tactical Innovations Lower A2 Stock Have ordered: Target Master .22 Conversion with Black Dog mags CMC Drop in Trigger (Flat) Miculek Comp A couple of PMags And one Polymer (Mako) AR Mag Pouch to experiment, I'm using a basic "Silent Sling" at the moment. Anything else I should be looking for in the meantime? (I'm sticking to Iron sights for a while). Thanks, KFN
  11. What Marial Art? I train in both leads but am Right Handed and I use the Lead that presents the best opportunity with the least vulnerability.
  12. I use Guitar Gig Bags. The Clandestine cases are better in my neighborhood My 20" with an A2 just fits in an electric guitar bag.
  13. Will do...thanks. This Field manual has lots of good basic tech and troubleshooting in it: http://www.ar15.com/content/manuals/TM9-1005-319-10.pdf
  14. Well....my .22 Pistol was replaced by the AA .22 Kit. Two other pistols got traded for an AR-15. I'll make better/different purchases when I buy next time anyway.
  15. I had a thread a while back about " best AR for beginners". I just fell into a trade for a couple of Pistols I wasn't using and got an Olympic Arms A3 Upper with Detachable Handle, 20" 1/9 HBAR Tactical Innovations Lower with an A2 Trapdoor Stock and a couple of GI Mags. I figure this Rifle should keep me busy for a while at least to learn to shoot and what I like and don't like. What would be a good source for AR info? Technique that is... Burkett?
  16. The more I learn, the less I know I used to commonly bring several pistols to the range. It was screwing up my NPA and my timing and my Sight focus, recoil management, Draw... My New Years 'resolution'..... I've gotten rid of everything except for my Glock 17 and have gotten an Advantage Arms .22 kit for it. I am going to attempt to ONLY shoot that Pistol this year (not including rifles of course!) We'll see how much discipline I have.
  17. I have the Double Diamonds. PLENTY of Grip. Carried CCW in an IWB under a T Shirt they can rub on your skin. Depends upon your carry method. I got used to it but if I was ordering again I would get the ones for carry. Here are my Double Diamonds
  18. I shoot reduced targets most of the time. Just remember that your bullet size is HUGE compared to the reduced target. So keep MOA in mind
  19. My near vision isn't great. Tried all black sights and liked it better than 3 Dot, but I can't focus on the front sight. Put on a Narrow Dawson FO and all is good. I don't find the tiny FO distracting but it catches my eye and works great in mixed lighting (use it for CCW) I can Sight 25 yards just fine with it.
  20. http://www.kyledefoor.com/2010/03/defoor-tactical-sights-for-glocks.html Looks good. He mentions a Tritium...wonder about FO
  21. I got the .160x.105 FO front from Dawson today. Thankfully they give you a driver to do the install. Installation was fairly easy. Pulling out the old sight was scary....using a punch wasn't working so I masked off the slide and used padded vise grips. NICE SIGHT PICTURE. The FO Rod is very small and about as non distracting as it could possibly be. My close vision isn't good so I think I am getting benefit from the FO plus the added light due to the narrow sight. Dryfire is great...can see much smaller targets now as well as getting a quicker sight Picture. Will hopefully get to the range this week
  22. Yes....I have their Aluminum Punch. Put a layer of masking tape on it
  23. So today.... I filed the Front Sight Shorter and Narrowed it a bit and blacked out the Front Dot. Definitely like the narrower front along with the wider notch. I'm so used to seeing the front dot....going to practice with the plain front and see if I get used to it. Then when I get the new Dawson FO front I will have something to compare to. Then after a few months I'll get the Sevigny
  24. What is a hybrid point of aim? I have never heard that term before. Lower than POA/POI but higher than the 6'oclock (sorry, had to give it some kind of name) . I tried them both .But really like the "in between" . Some people call that "The Flat Tire Hold"
  25. I blacked out the Rear dots with paint tonight and again immediately liked the Sight picture better. On the path.... I would like to see the Sevigny in person sometime. The Sights are pretty tall but I'm guessing that having that tall front post gives a nice picture. I don't want to have trouble dragging in holsters. That happened to me on a 1911 with a tall Dawson FO Front
