  1. I likeYoga but you should try Tai Chi as well. I am a musician. I practiced TaiChi faithfully for a couple of months when I was off the road. When I went back out on tour I really noticed that my Balance had improved and oddly it felt like I was more aware of what was going on around me on stage.
  2. I have the Skimmer. No it isn't cheap. You're paying for gunsmith time and the experimentation they went through to get it right. I wasn't really interested in learning how to work on my trigger or trying different spring combinations so I just bought the drop in. I also wanted to stay Stock Service Pistol so I got the Skimmer No regrets. Took 10 minutes (I went slow). Other benefit is I can get it back exactly as it was in another 10 minutes.
  3. I switched back to OEM and keeping my thumbs off. I don't have any trouble hitting the Slide Release as long as I rotate the gun in a little. Would much rather risk missing the release than hitting it accidentally.
  4. Any GOOD bed will do. When I'm in a bad/average bed, my back hurts. But I've had the Select Comfort for eight years and am glad I spent the money. Some people don't like the way the Select Comfort is divided into two chambers (like a Waterbed). Some don't like the way the Temperpedic buildup around you....says it makes them feel hot. A Sterns and Foster traditional Bed with a Pillowtop is full on luxury.
  5. I ordered the WE g17. Will post a review when I get it. Particularly interested to check Holster fit, ability to change Sights, weight etc.
  6. None of the Challenges have started from a Holster for starters... Reloads come into play but they are rarely on guns that the Shooter 'knows'. JJ was impressive. But he lasted because he did well at everything. But if a national Revo champion steps up and shanks a short Rifle shot, they don't last. Has to really suck to get eliminated throwing rocks And about the women... Michelle is likely physically stronger than several of the men. Gabby is a better shot than a lot of the men but is too small. Seeing her run a Benelli M4 will be very telling.
  7. I really like the tape on the non Dominant side. I put a small piece on while wearing the glasses and set it high so I have as much low and peripheral vision as I can. It is Training me to keep my face and my eyes relaxed while drawing and looking for my Sights. When I take them off, I am already having an easier time keeping both eyes open. Going to stick with this for a while.
  8. Does this happen in a COF? I would imagine it does in 3 Gun but wondering about IDPA/USPSA. I've been doing "Burpees" with a Pistol in my hand
  9. Will do My eyes have started aging (44) and my work keeps me looking at a computer and having tired eyes all the time. And I am conditioned to tuck my Chin from Boxing. That's why I am used to looking up out of the tops of my eyes. my vision is DEFINITELY better with my eyes relaxed and looking straight. It seems to translate to less tension in my shoulders as well.
  10. I'm certain I am not the only one that has done this...looking for some pointers. I've developed a bad habit. I'm lowering my head and looking through the top of my eyes instead of straight on. (I'm pretty sure it's a bad habit) I also blink/squint my non Dom eye to clear up my sight picture. On the bright side...at least I was getting my head into that position BEFORE my draw. I need reading glasses (+1.5) I think I was trying to squint my way into focus. Spending some time resetting my head position so I am relaxed and looking straight. I am experimenting with full frame +1.5 lenses I'm going to put Tape over the left side of some cheap safety glasses to try that out too. Just going to do loads of Dryfire and Airsoft practice until it becomes normal and go from there. Tips? KFN
  11. Actually Gabby is the one that almost lost the Pistol in recoil on the elimination choice. It flipped out of her hand pretty badly. Was a nice Bullseye though,
  12. There is a WE G17 on Airsplat that I'm looking at. Just doesn't have logos. Claims it is a 1:1 replica and will fit Glock holsters
  13. For a Grip Trainer look at the Dynaflex Gyroball http://www.practicerange.com/DynaFlex-Power-Ball-Gyro-Trainer-P453.aspx They have different strengths as well as some that are attached to handles. I like these because you keep mobility in your Wrists while using them as opposed to just a clamped down Visegrip action. Some Rock Climbing buddies of mine showed them to me a while back and I like it. Has helped me a lot and I have some old wrist injuries.
  14. I'm reading the FAQ http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5008 And will dig around on Youtube etc.... But I haven't seen this mentioned (or didn't understand it then if I did). I've been working working for a Deep Grip with my Strong Hand (getting your Wrist behind the gun). In Dry Fire practice I get much less Front Sight movement on repeated shots when I back out my Grip just a little bit. I hadn't really noticed it before but today I did the "Glock Dry Fire Trick" blocking it open a little with Cardboard so I could get repeated Trigger Squeeze. I could really see the Sights move. It wasn't as obvious on a Single Trigger pull with simulated followup pulls. I just shot my first Classifier. I could clearly see in Stage 1 that my 2nd Shots were consistently going Left. I thought I was PUSHING them and I tried reducing my Grip pressure and it got worse. Now I am seeing it was just my grip angle causing the Pistol to Rotate Left. And I had been using my THUMBS to compensate. SO Thumbs off the Gun. Adjust my Grip and Trigger finger for the minimal Sight wiggle without compensating elsewhere. Going to just Draw, Grip, Dryfire a couple of weeks... Sound like a plan? my moments of clarity are getting closer together
  15. I just used the 'Elbow Down' in my Classifier. Funny thing was my Weak Hand was more accurate than my Strong Hand only. I was thinking too much with the strong and but my weak hand is more of a Blank Slate so it just worked.
  16. I'm going to do both. Ordered an OEM and work on my grip
  17. Thanks for that link. I was looking in the wrong places. So now after sitting around hand cycling dummy rounds.... It was my GRIP. My Thumb works its way onto the Extended release but i never had a problem with the original one. I am a relative beginner. Should I stick with the extended release and work on my grip technique to avoid hitting it Or go back to the OEM? THANKS
  18. I busted the slide Lock on my old 2 Pin G17 on Thursday and had to get an emergency repair with an Extended release the day before my first IDPA shoot. Bummer. I was getting random Slide lock and NO slidelock today. COULD have been partially shooter induced but I'm not convinced it is all me. The gunsmith that installed it was concerned that it wasn't "interfacing well with the Slide". He said he could probably make a stronger spring for it but felt like we needed to ask Glock what they do. In the meantime, I would be happy to find an old style Lock if I could find one that wasn't worn out. Any leads would be much appreciated. Thanks, J
  19. Well....shot the classifier today. Had some equipment issues and had a hard time keeping focus. I learned that I should slow down and get the Headshots. Hmmmm...seems like I've heard that before somewhere At least now I have a benchmark for speed. Comparing my times with this breakdown posted by Catseye http://idpaforum.yuku.com/topic/7761/SSP-Expert-Classifier-Breakdown#.T0BKtfF5mSM I was only shooting slightly slower than a high Master pace but with 100 points down. I still managed to dig out a 162. Now I know how fast I CAN'T go and I'll hit Sharpshooter next time. I was basing my tempo on my best practice speeds (combined with nerves). Probably not a good strategy. Good shooting with you today Rick. I needed a "do it like this" example. J
  20. Well.... The Gunfun 75% sized targets came in. The paper is on the thin side. They come folded 1/4 size so they are pretty creased. The creases were causing annoying glare at the range. If you could clip or tape the bottoms it wouldn't be as big of a deal. Once I got them to hang better it wasn't as big of an issue They are colored a brown color at least with a White background....scoring zones heavily outlined with black. The Fullsized targets from MidwayUSA are thicker but are light gray with lightly outlined scoring zones
  21. To make it closer to the weight of my G17.
  22. Ah...left out that I am doing lots of Drawing from my regular Holster. I gues I could always get a second holster though
  23. The Edge is adjustable. Might be other differences too.
  24. Was thinking about easy ways to add weight to a G17 with Advanrage Arms .22 kit but be able to easily remove it when switching back to the 9mm slide. Something like the "Seattle Slug" could help but I don't know how easy they are to remove and if it would strip out with repeated removal. Plus of course the added weight would only be on the blackstrap. The Brass one is a bit over 3oz. Heavy enough to help?
  25. If you want to go cheap.... I have the Caldwell EMax low profile. They were around $35. Work fine for me. I was using my iPhone as a shot timer in an indoor range (other shooters there too) and I had no problem hearing
