Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I am experienced and capable with guns. A fair amount of respected formal training. Regular dry and live fire regime. All with glocks, hk or sigs. I have owned 1911s in the past. The detonics mtx I really want. Bit being pretty much a newbie to the 1911/2011 world I want to see what advice you guys have on my chooch and circumstances. 1. Any experience with this gun? 2. Are 2011s at good chpice for defense? 3. What learning paths do you suggest to become 1911/2011 competent?
  2. Just heard of wilsons match barrel for glocks. I was going to get one but wanted to see if anyone had any experiences with them. Noticable difference when dirty, moving, limp wrist vs the stock barrel with unsupported chamber?
  3. I thought the point wasnt what you are shooting, wether you are shooting paper or metal but mastering the techniques of a certain type of shooting. That shooting being practical and defensive?
  4. International DEFENSE Pistol Assn and PRACTICAL Shooting Association.
  5. After working to imprint 3,000 plus reps of shooting lefty mechanics, to make it an automatic response under the pressure, then working to imprint reps of the exact opposite mechanics for fighting, which what stance do you default to under pressure? When the beep goes off i go almost blank and work what i practiced. Now I just practiced two different things. Mistakenly grabbing for my lefy gun in a righty stance is going to make for sloppy time and accuracy in a match, in real life Im sure consequences get worse. The whole point of martial arts training and weapons training is to improve response under stress. Shooting lefty then fighting righty seems to add variables and potential for confusion. Is it worth it to take the time and effort for uniformity in response?
  6. Looking for advice from ambidextrous shooters. I searched but didnt see exactly what Im asking. I have always been ambidextrous. Im left eye dominant. For martial arts and shooting I was right handed until I met matt burkett. He advised me to switch to a lefty shooting stance and that has made me a much better shooter. Im getting back into martial arts. I love being a lefty shooter. Doing martial arts as a lefty feels very arkward. What should I do? 1. Learn martial arts in comfort as a righty and shoot stay shooting on the left? That seems like setting my fight response up for failure. 2. Switch back to a right handed shooter? Take a hit in the accuracy department but dont condition in possible confusion failure when the beep goes off or real life fight or flight? or learn to fight as a lefty also? I have been actively shooting as a lefty for years now and really like where I have gotten but I want the best performance with shooting and martial arts under pressure.
  7. Looking for Trijicon HD sights, Orange front, in stock. I want them delivered this week and installed by friday, any ideas? Brownells out. Company, two weeks.
  8. im sure this has been covered but going to ask to get the most updated answer. what timer works with airsoft guns well? that is all thanks
  9. I have land to set up an air soft force on force set up. We have about 2 acres of land and full freedom. What would you want to make this a "Black Water" of airsoft/force on force? when set up anyone, invited.
  10. Im not a "heavy mods" guy. Dont want reflectors and stickers and spinning plates on my weapons.Think glocks are great, with new sights, just as made. But I thinking of a bar sto. I have HEARD of accuracy increaes. Not sure what to make of how much the barrel would counter poor trigger control and grip BUT.. want to know. I dont shoot lead ammo but have heard through the rumor mill that plated ammo (which I shoot a lot of) has also had problems with polygonal rifiling, so...? is there a benefit there? 50/50 on unsupported vs fully supported. SO questions are; what measurable actual benefits have bar sto users seen? Is it worth the cost and time? How much of a difference would I see between that and a drop in lone wolf Barrel? Circumstance: lots of weekly shooting in casual competition, organized competition and SHTF.
  11. Hi, just got a CCR stainless steel frame for the glock 17. Want the added weight, and the 1911 grip angle. Im doing this for competition but as I build it I want it to be 100% practical SHTF ready also. Not fantasizing about zombies just want any gun in my house to be able to get me "there and back" if that is what I'm close to when things happen. Race gun parts have match precision specs and tolerances so have some concerns. 1) What after market parts would you suggest I build this frame out with? What are the best quality parts that will have tolerances that give it stock glock reliablity or better for SHTF THEN competition benefits? 2) What companies parts are not interchangable? Can I use a Lone Wolf Barrel extractor in a CCR slide, etc? What are the spec changes that will affect the performance that I can avoid before " OH, This spring with THIS slide doesn't work?" Thanks you guys.
  12. I have been looking at fiber optics. 1. I have heard about issues with durability. Fiber part falling out, etc. 2. Not as useful in low light so not good on a self defense gun. What are people using that stands up to use and that they can take to competition AND grab for SHTF?
  13. Just ordered this and wondering what people thought if anyone had one. Is it true wilson quality? Is the zero repeatable if taken off and then put back? How durable?
  14. how hard is it to get used to the standard bolt release and mag release position?
