  1. I am worried about Berrys' bullets. Will I crimp them the same way as any other bullet? I am worried about lead in my glock 35 also from these lead plated bullets. I want to shoot lead plated Berrys bullets because they are cheap but a bit worried about them. i read the FAQ section on the Berrys web site and it said I can shoot these bullets in a Glock. Any help would be great.
  2. .420" will be about perfect in any gun. Crimp has almost nothing to do with whether the bullet can move unintentionally (setback). Proper resizing is what creates bullet pull (neck tension) that prevents the bullet from moving. R, Thanks. I just made ten rounds (with no primer or powder) and they seem to be ok. They measured about .421. I will load when I guess I feel that I am ready. I have powder, I have primers, I have once fired brass that I fired, the Dillion 550B is set up and just got my first 200 rounds in the mail today. I will load light loads and try them out. I hope I do not kill myself. I used the bullet puller to pull out the ten rounds I tested out. Can I reuse these bullets or do I have to put them in the trash?
  3. I am also new to reloading. How do I know how much crimp I need on a .40 S&W ? I don't see the answer in the loading book I have. I read here on this forum that I just crimp to take the flare out. But the loading book says that if not enough crimp is in the bullet it could move more in the case and could cause higher pressures. What do I do? Do I just look at the case and see if the flare is removed or do I use my dial caliper and check it that way? LOST !!!!!
  4. Now you can use the Dillion scale not only for powders but also>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>?
  5. I got the Dillion 550 today and I spent hours putting it together. I am still not done because I do not have any bullets and have still not ordered any. I did run a few brass trough to get a feel of how the 1st station deprimes and resizes the brass. I also messed around with the 2nd station trying to figured out how much flare I needed on the brass. The Dillion installation book said about .020 on the digital caliper thingy. So I tried to get it set for that and I spent over an hour on that. So far I am having a slow and difficult time placing thing together. I had to run down to the hardware store to get longer bolts to secure the Dillion on the work table. I also had to cut out a notch off the wood because when I pull the handle down it was hitting the table. I also secured the table to the floor and the wall so this table is SUPER secure now. As you can see I was able to move the shelves under the work table. I also placed all the powders, primers and unfired store bought bullets in another area of the garage because I was afraid the kids were going to hurt themselves. I also now have to pull off the handle when I am not using the 550 because I made a huge mistake and let my 5 year old daughter use the press, she resized and deprimed only (I do not have any powder, primers or bullets in the 550 yet.). An hour later I caught her in the garage doing it all by herself. That is why I took off the handle and moved all the dangerous stuff away from the work area.
  6. +1k. You might want to reconsider blocking your home's circuit breaker panel with the shelves. Sometimes you just don't want to unstack stuff to reach it. Not a easy thing to do in the dark Never thought of it that way, thanks.
  7. The only difference between 40 S&W and 10mm is the case and primer. A 10mm bullet is the same bullet loaded for the 40 S&W. Both are .400......The 10mm takes a large primer, the 40 takes a small. The case on the 10mm is just a bit longer than the 40....Think of the 40 S&W loaded round as a 10mm short..... So I can order 10mm and load as a 40 S&W cause they are the same bullet. Thank you!
  8. She hates guns and I have been with her for 15 years. I have yet to get her to come down and watch a match but I do not like to shoe shop with her. So I understand when I tell her I am not in the mood to go down to the mall to look for new high heels.
  9. The supply shelf is not bolted or secured to the work desk. I may have to move it to the ground and it will not fit under the table (I tried). I will secure the table to the wall as soon as I can get to the hardware store or maybe even to the floor.
  10. Just got the reloading books in the mail today. READING NOW !
  11. The entire top of the table is 8 feet long 2 x 4's from front to rear. I than put a 3/4 inch piece of ply wood on top of that. The table is very heavy but I guess it may wobble so I guess I better figure out something. Thanks guys. Also I was wondering how long the screws / bolts are with the 550B hardware because I will have to drill all the way through the 3/4 plywood and the 2x4 (2 3/4 inch total).
  12. I am still waiting for the new 550B I ordered from Brian. So far I got the scale and some small parts I ordered from LEE. But the question is will I have the right work area to do this. I just installed a new air conditioning unit in the garage yesterday also. My wife is mad as a Hornet because I am spending money on a hobby I am not even sure I will like.
  13. Loading data for Accurate powders? I am confused. I have some Accurate #7 powder. I downloaded the loading data off of the web site and it says the following : No. 7 180 (bullet weight) HDY (bullet make) XTP (Bullet type) 7.7 (Start load) 861 (Start velocity) 8.5 (Max load) 978 (Max load velocity) 34,600 (max load pressure) 1.135 (COL inch) This is all a foreign language to me. All I know so far is that how do I follow this loading data if they only show one type of bullet from only one maker? I still have not orderd bullets becasue I have no idea what to get. So far I have Accurate #7 and CCI small primers. OH, I am loading for .40 S&W. Also some websites do not show a .40 S&W but it says .400 10MM. Is this the same bullet ? Yes I am new.
  14. Thank you. I am still up in the air if I am going to get into reloading. Not anymore, I get the new 550B in a few days!!!!!
  15. That was funny... I was reading this post and getting ready to reply to get the Bullet Tray and the Empty Case Bin, and didn't connect your member name with the name in this morning's order that I called you on. On a chair for reloading, I highly recommend a bar stool. They're taller than a chair, can you can put your feet on the rungs under you and keep your back nice and straight. And if it's too tall you can easily cut some off the legs. Thank you sir. Your company is by far the best company on this planet. Free shipping, you call everyone before a order ships out and you know your stuff. If I was gay I would probably take a run at you. "just kidding"
  16. Thank you, I did a search but most of what I read was hard to understand because I am brand new at this. Thanks for all your help guys.
  17. Now I am worried. I ordered a Dillion 550B yesterday with .40 S&W Carbide Dies from Dillion. I only shoot Glock. I purchased a brand new Glock Gen 3 about 4 months ago. Can you guys explain to me what Glocked brass is. I been reading the forums here and it seems some of you are having an issue resizing brass shot out of a Glock. I called Dillion today and they told me I had 30 days to get my money back if I had a problem. Well I don't want to send it back, I want it to work! He also told me that the newer Glocks do not have that problem. Should I get a aftermarket barrel? Will this fix the problem I may have? Please explain all of this because I am all worked up and I don't even have the Dillion here yet. I placed some of the shot brass in the stock barrel and it fit just fine. I did notice a slight bulge on the case just above the notch were the primer is at.(not sure what are it is called). Jay
  18. Mr. Brian called me today to talk to me about the order. That was fast! I made the order at 3am and he called 9 hours later to discuss the strong mount. He told me that I would not need the strong mount because I built my work table 42 inches high. So I was very happy that he did not sell me an item that I would not need. he also sold me the hardware so that I didn't need to go down to Home Depot to find hardware to install the new 550B to my very high work table. I built my work table out of a bunch of 2x4s and a huge piece of 3/4 inch plywood. The table is 8 feet long, 2 1/2 feet from the back to the front of the table and 3 1/2 feet tall. I may need buy a taller chair so that I can reach the 550B.
  19. Is there any steel matches for kids here in the Florida area? My son wants to shoot but I can find a place that lets 9 year olds compete.
  20. I guess the only issue will be that I will not be able to see the sights if it is dark on the range.
  21. And where do I get check weights? How heavy should the check weights be?
  22. Now I am worried! Do rounds go off during the process?
  23. I was on the wall for months but I did it, I just ordered a Dillion 550B off of this web site (Brian's Store) ! I am happy but a bit worried at the same time. I did meet someone here locally that reloads and he said he would come over and help me set it up and show me the ropes if I paid him in beer. I just ordered my first Dillion press. I decided to get the 550. If you don't mind I will put a list of what I purchased and can you tell me if I left anything out. 1) Dillion 550B 2) Dillion 40 S&W/10mm Carbide 3-die set 3) 1 inch bench wrench for Dillion Dies/P. Measure 4) Dillion Strong Mount 5) Primer Flip Tray 6) 4 pack small primer pickup tubes 7) Dillion 550B Instructional DVD 8) BrianEnos.com Digital Scale/RCBS Powder Pan 9) Neiko stainless steel 6-inch Digital caliper 10) Lyman- Reloading Book 11) Hornady one shot case lube 12) Tumbler 13) Media Separator 14) Impact bullet puller 15) Lee Primer Pocket Cleaner 16) Lee Chamfer Tool 17) Lee GAGE/HLDR 40 S&W 18) Lee Cutter & Lock Stud 19) Lee Zip Trim Total $918.83 out of pocket. I am collecting my brass at this point because I still have about 1,200 store purchased rounds here in the garage. I know I still have to buy powder, primers and bullets. I will get the powder and primers here by my house(Gander Montain)and by the bullets of the internet. Did I forget anything?
