  1. I just got my 550b from Brian 2 months ago. The 550b for me is great. It was very easy to put together. It may not have a case feeder like the 650 or the 1050 but I like the 550b. I was also on a budget. My start up costs for everything was about $1,500! This price includes 8 lbs of powder, 2,000 primers, 1,500 bullets, etc. It will take me a year to make back the money because I only shoot a few times a month. I say 550B all the way unless you have lots of cash than go 650 or even 1050!
  2. Two words::::: CLAYS / TITEGROUP !!!
  3. IF you were really my friend you would have emailed me and let me know not to waste the 60 seconds required to hit the stop button. I will get even and now to get -Even - with jay jay jay I am closing in on 55 and I not only have a full head of hair , but it is fairly hard to find any gray in my soft full hair. I have to go get a hair cut now because my full head of hair just grows so fast Maybe you can save some of that hair and sell it to me so I can glue some of that fine hair on my bald head. My wife hates that I wear a ball cap to hide my bald head.
  4. No it is not. My name is Jose. We share the same first letter but this is not me. I do not even know how to put a video on the internet. I am what you call a novice when it comes to computers. I was wondering how long before someone asked if this guy was me. He also has a full head of hair and I would kill for that.
  5. I looks like it gets hot in that garage that guys is in. Maybe that is why the fan was at full blast.
  6. You guys have to watch this guy. He starts off talking about reloading on a Dillion and by the end I am almost wetting my pants. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHnZFDPZ96Q
  7. This is the Ultimate Reloading Bench. Lots of space for work. The bench is very heavy, stable and bolted to the ground and wall. The top of the table is two by fours side by side with a 3/4 inch piece of sanded plywood (no splinters). The top of the table is 8 feet long and 4 feet deep so tons of room to add more presses. Also for added comfort I installed a 15,000 BTU portable air conditioning unit in this room (2 car garage).
  8. I guess the reason I have not had any problems is I normally reload the brass I fire out of my Glock with a Lone Wolf barrel. I did have to change from the Dillon resizing die because the Lone Wolf was not eating the cases out of the Dillon Die. The Lee U die is now working great.
  9. Glock 35 / Federal once fired brass / 4.2 grains TiteGroup / CCI primers / OAL 1.125 / crimp .20 / Montana Gold FMJ 180 grain 40S&W. I don't have a fav yet. I am new at reloading and this is my first load that I made major.
  10. Thanks for asking this. I was wondering the same thing. I have been reloading the brass and keeping the nickel for a later date. Now I know to just keep reloading the brass. I like yellow anyways, it looks like gold!
  11. I also now use the LEE U die (40 S&W) on my Dillion 550b. For some reason the dillion resize die would not make the cases small enough to fit into my lone wolf barrel. The LEE U die works great on the Dillion.
  12. Thnk You. I am not going to lie, I was worried when I pulled the trigger the first time. I had this vision of my new Glock 35 going up like a bomb. But the surprising thing I learned was that the reloads are less recoil than the store ammo I normally purchase. So I looked around the internet and did the math. It looks like the retail ammo I use is just a tad bit over 200 PF / 1110 feet per second. Shooting these reloads I made was like shooting a 9mm out of my 40s&w. So the next step for me is too shoot the 1,000 rounds of retail 40 I have and just reload from now on.
  13. Ok, I finally went down to the outdoor range to use the new crono and test fire what I had made. My first 20 rounds was a mess because the crono was reading incorrect velocities. After a quick read of the manual I moved the crono out from under the wood overhang it was under to give it a try. I didn't know the crono had to be in the sun light to work properly. Once I got it set up again it started reading consistant velocities. I used TiteGroup 4.0 grains / Montana Gold 180 Gr bullets (40 s&w) / OAL 1.125 / R P once fired brass. It was 185 degrees outside with little wind and I was at sea level (south Florida). Weapon used was a Glock 35 with a Lone Wolf barrel. I was surprised I was shooting an average of 931 feet per second with an average of 167 power factor and I was using only 4.0 grains of TiteGroup. I was planning on making 4.2 and 4.4 because a friend of mine uses 4.4 to make major out of his Glock 35. I was worried maybe the new crono was off but I guess I will just stick with 4.0 grains or maybe 4.2 grains to make major. I would hate to be at a match and find out my crono was off. I also had some rounds made with CLAYs. I sure liked the way this powder was feeling more than the TiteGroup. I only loaded minor loads and was getting an average power factor of 140-163. I was at an average 163 power factor with 3.6 grains of CLAYs. I had a lot of fun today shooting my first 110 rounds that I made in my garage. I did not blow off my fingers and now I am going back to the garage to make more rounds using TiteGroup. Now I know why the reloading bug is addictive.
  14. I can confirm that with absolute certainty. Definitely a practice I will incorporate with all loading activity from now on. I guess I just took for granted that the powder check would catch a problem instead of using it as just one more check on top of visual verification of powder drop in each case. IMO, the Powder Check System is only a backup to the visual inspection. be Can I get a powder check system on a Dillion 550B?
  15. Going from all A's to missing targets by going faster? What are you doing different? Squeezing the gun harder? Closing your eyes? Doing double taps instead of seeing the sights for each shot. I think I am doing double taps.
  16. Hey guys. I am going to crono these this Saturday. I am new and was just wondering what you guys thought? I am brand new at this and these are the first rounds I have made. I was real careful making the following loads. I spent weeks going at a snails pace making these. I must of pulled more bullets apart than I made. Just was wanting all of your feedback before I drive an hour to the range on Saturday to fire my first reloads and try to firgure out how to use this new crono I just got. Bullet Powder Charge OAL Primer Berrys Plated 180GR CLAYS 3.0 1.125 CCI Berrys Plated 180GR CLAYS 3.2 1.125 CCI Berrys Plated 180GR CLAYS 3.4 1.125 CCI Winchester JHP 180GR CLAYS 3.2 1.125 CCI Winchester JHP 180GR CLAYS 3.4 1.125 CCI Winchester JHP 180GR CLAYS 3.6 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr CLAYS 3.1 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr CLAYS 3.2 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr CLAYS 3.4 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr TITEGROUP 3.8 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr TITEGROUP 4.0 1.125 CCI : Weapon: GLOCK 35 (40 S&W) with Lone Wolf Barrel
  17. I have the following to crono this Saturday: Bullet Powder Charge OAL Primer Berrys Plated 180GR CLAYS 3.0 1.125 CCI Berrys Plated 180GR CLAYS 3.2 1.125 CCI Berrys Plated 180GR CLAYS 3.4 1.125 CCI Winchester JHP 180GR CLAYS 3.2 1.125 CCI Winchester JHP 180GR CLAYS 3.4 1.125 CCI Winchester JHP 180GR CLAYS 3.6 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr CLAYS 3.1 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr CLAYS 3.2 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr CLAYS 3.4 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr TITEGROUP 3.8 1.125 CCI Montana Gold 180Gr TITEGROUP 4.0 1.125 CCI I have carefully made these rounds so I know I should be just fine when I crono these test rounds. I do plan on working up a load to major at a later date. I am just trying to use up the 2 lbs of CLAYS I have in stock. I just got 7 lbs of TITEGROUP yesterday and plan on using that next. Oh, it is a GLOCK 35 that I am using.
  18. I am having an issue with speed also. I am placing hign every local match (6th out of 17th in Limited) but I am the slowest out of all of them. The only reason I placed 6th was because I had all A hits. The problem is when I speed up I start missing targets. So the problem for me is I am too slow but get all A hits but when I speed up I miss targets all together. I am still trying to work this out.
  19. This may or may not work? I know this is time consuming but I have been slowly working on loads for my Glock 35. I am not sure if this is even going to work but here is something I have been doing. I load ten rounds and visually watch the powder going into the case. After I load ten rounds I weight each one on the scale. The rounds all should be between 1 or 2 grains max from each other. If one is more or less than 3 grains I will not use it. I have noticed over time that if I use mixed brass this method will not work because each brand of brass(federal, speer,et.) weights differently. So I have to use the same head stamped brass for my reloading. I also made a chart of what each brand of a empty case weights. Is this stupid or what do you guys think?
  20. What OAL for your glock? I am working with CLAYs also for a Glock 35.
  21. I ordered the Lone Wolf off the Dillion Precision web site cause it was only $99., so now what do I do? Is the issue with the resizing die? I have the Dillon die on there now but do have a LEE U resizing die that seems to make the cases a bit smaller\tighter.
  22. I hope I got it right cause I paid $132.79 for a Shooting Chrony Beta Master (has a remote). Did the new guy do good? I also orderd a Lone Wolf barrel from Dillion for only $99. I keep hearing that the Glock barrel is not fully supported so I guessed I just better play it safe and get it. Did the new guy do good by getting the after market Lone Wolf barrel? Also ordered 6 lbs of TiteGroup but I may have to wait cause it is on backorder. Did I do good?
