  1. That's a sweet looking pistol!! Congrats on the build!!
  2. Glad to read all the positive comments about the edge! I just bough a used one from the classifieds, 9mm, just for three gun! (gonna stick to my revolver for USPSA)
  3. Low recoil buck and slugs. I run whatever birdshot walmart has the cheapest, haven't had any problems
  4. Dan Short A18616 Master SSR (made it with a moon clip gun prior to the division split, through match performance, never have use speedloaders, honest answer) Expert ESR, ESP
  5. Do away with ssr and esr as separate divisions, www revolver shooters are a small enough group already. Sucks that I went from ssr master to ESR unclassified even though I'm still shooting the same gun. Reloads with retention shouldn't be required for revolvers, ever try getting a partial moon clip back into a cylinder? Reload behind cover, I understand the concept, but there have been several courses of fire, that by design leave a revolver out in the open and we have to move several feet before gettingto cover and being able to start a reload. If it's a "tactical" game then there should not be rules in place that force you to hang out with an empty gun, kinda silly
  6. After winning expert class SSR at last years nationals I got promoted to Master shooting my 610 with RIMZ speedloaders (moon clips). Now the rule changes, my gun is now illegal and I am an unclassified shooter!?!? What gives, and does this transfer or did I waste a year climbing the SSR ladder from SS to Master? Someone please clarify this for me. I guess it doesn't matter too much because if they don't change the rules and make my revolver, sidearmor holster and california comp. moon clip holders legal again I will be calling HQ for a refund of my membership dues. At least there is still ICORE as well as USPSA ( home of the bottom feeder for sure but currently more revolver friendly then IDPA )
  7. I think the bottom line is that when someone starts shooting a revolver it is because they are seeking a greater challenge. Sure the stage designs for USPSA are considerably more difficult with a revolver, but isn't that what we wanted!? The most important thing to remember is that we are only competing against other revolvers so it isn't that big of a deal. ( If you choose to shoot a 7 or 8 shot revo in production thats another story). More then stage design I think what is hurting the revolver numbers is the negative press they always receive. Revo's can't do this, can't do that, "they" don't like us. PHOOEY!! Just train hard and get back down to the basics, revolvers are fun and challenging and that is why we shoot them.
  8. Where do the moon clips go? Sorry about that Theo, didn't know you were becoming a bottom feeder!?!?!?
  9. Can you give us more info? Like where to register and such? I live in California but am originally from Indiana and would like to know. Thanks
  10. REDMIST10- I'll be anxious to see if the all revo squad works out. All of us on Team RIMZ are planning on being there and that would be a great way to shoot the match, NO BOTTOM FEEDERS!!! Looking forward to shooting with you guys next year. (Hopefully we'll see you at some of the ICORE matches as well)
  11. Underlug, if you are truly a revolver shooter, why does you gun have eight rounds? If you shot it with six wouldn't that make the math easier? Even on a nine round array it simplifies everything. Just a thought, I have to run now, before the angels tell on me for helping a mortal.
  12. I have simplified the problem for myself. Instead of burning up a lot of time complaining about the rules and whining its not fair to me since I shoot revolver, I redirect that time to training, dry fire, range time etc. While my competition sleeps I grow stronger. After less then a year I have gone from being at the bottom to consistent top three finishes. Lot to be said for dedicated training, not much to be said for complaining. If the rules upset you that much, or you can't hang just because of one extra round per array then maybe you should just throw in the towel and shoot a bottom feeder. Sorry for venting but we have a guy a the local matches who makes the morning shooters meeting three times longer then it has to be just by asking a million questions, complaining about the rules and in general just complaining. Frustrates the crap out of the rest of us who go to shoot and have fun. Thanks everyone, I feel much better now.
  13. Another option is to contact Beckahm Product Design and try out their polymer moon clips. No tools needed to load'em , unload'em or straighten them (They don't bend or rust or cut your fingers) I have some for a 625 as well as my 610. I love'm and wouldn't go back to steel for anything. www.beckhamdesign.com
  14. I would have to whole heartily agree with Hearthco on this one. Randy did one of my 627's and will be doing another, the work was excellent! Even more important to me was his customer relations, he spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with me working out exactly what I wanted, optic advice, load data and on and on. Very informative guy and more then willing to help you get what you want.
  15. We tried this as soon as the ammo arrived at the range I work at. GAP ammo worked great in the 4' 625 we were using. We were getting about 170pf with it. The ammo was Speer Lawman 200 grainers. Even though it worked ammo cost was a concern, however since I work at the range and we have a Glock 37 as a rental gun I get all the GAP brass I need.
  16. You might want to go to www.beckhamdesign.com and check out their plastic moon clips, all the benefits of the metal ones without any drawbacks like bent, rust, etc. I tried some for my 625 and fell in love with them, the 610 version is supposed to be coming out this month. It's worth a try anyway.
  17. They are 5 for $5. I got mine in the mail yesterday and shot about 400 rouns at the first range session through one of the clips, haven't used the others yet. So far I am impressed, as soon as the ones come out for the other moon clip guns I have I'll be getting them too!
  18. Has anyone tried these plastic moon clips. There is talk on other forums (smit=wesson and the high road) that seems pretty positive. They are being offered by a company called Beckham Product Design (www.beckhamdesign.com) and they look good. Tell me what you think.
  19. I am having my 627 turned into an ICORE open gun and would like any input on 38 spl loads that will work well with the ports. I would like to compile as much data as possible so I can assemble a few different loads while waiting for my 627 to come home! Any help is appreciated on tried and true loads!
  20. I've been using a S+W 610 in ICORE, IPSC and IDPA. I have to say I get a lot of reactions from the auto boys when they see a six gun at IPSC. My main focus of competition thus far has been IDPA and ICORE, IPSC is great cause it make me practice reloads under match conditions. I have had a lot of luck shooting mine with the 4" (actually 3 and seven eighths") barrel. As far as modifications a gold bead front sight, Jerry's grips and a little chamferring is all. Good luck.
