  1. So I hear that a lot of guys didn't make major at SS Nats this year. I'm one of them. The rounds I crono-ed last week at 175 made it to 164.9 on Thursday. How many of you had the same experience? It was cold (low 50s). Perhaps that was part of the problem for me. I think that TiteGroup is temperature sensitive. But I know at least 2 guys that had their Atlanta Arms ammo fail.
  2. It's nice to see some of the drills described in Ben's books. But honestly, if you have read all of Ben's books, practiced using his methods, and listen to his podcasts, there's not a great deal of new material in the video. It's still fun and instructive to watch. But for someone who's familiar with Ben's methods and is shooting A or M class already, there's no huge revelations about technique or training methods here. Just saying.
  3. My M&P Pro has not problems at all in sub-freezing cold. I use Brownell's Friction Defense all year around.
  4. There's nothing in the USPSA SS equipment rules about grip tape and where it can be placed on the gun. I have grip tape right in front of the slide release to guide my support hand thumb. I also have a little piece of grip tape on the magazine release to make it easier to depress. See picture. Legal?
  5. What is your classification in USPSA and/or IDPA? How many action pistol matches have you shot? What about 3-gun matches?

    Which vest?

Looking sharp is key. Leather is the way to go. And if it's warm out you can go bare breasted. No one will doubt your manhood.
  7. I'll see you there, Erich. And hopefully I'll beat you, too.
  8. I've used an 11lb ISMI spring in my 9mm pro for two years, well over 15k rounds through it. Works good for me. But I only used it to bump open a window prop once. No more after that. I prefer the 11lb cuz it gives me a nice flat recoil and muzzle flip. I'm at the bottom of the legal PF range, too, with my loads.
  9. If you disable the trigger safety, you are in violation of the USPSA Production rules. All safeties must be functional (Appendix D4 22.1-2). I simply took the burr off of it. It still functions, but is just a little bit more rounded at the tip so it doesn't snag. Be careful. Go slow. I took way too much off the first time I installed my APEX kit. I had to fix it with a new trigger. You can see a picture here.
  10. The only thing FNH needs to do now is sell them to the public. I'd love to switch out my M&P Pro for this, if I can just get my hands on one and see what it feels like. I'd like to see how it compares to a CZ.

    M&P mags

Bwahha haaa haa haaaaa. Good luck finding one!
  12. More information. Cutting what? The striker spring? The recoil spring?
  13. Oh yeah, just a couple of 1/10ths of a grain. Sorry. The powder bar is moving. I checked that. Polishing the bar and funnel sounds like a winner. Thank you!
  14. After 400 rounds or so my powder weight is dropping a couple of grains. I have to turn the powder charge bolt clockwise a bit to bring it back up to where it should be. Then I have to do it again after 400 rounds are so. Is this normal or do I have to clean something inside the powder bar or somewhere else? BTW, this has only just started happening. I've not had this problem for a couple of years. Only recently. Thanks!
  15. Another vote for the CompTac straight drop. I have the paddle version cuz I can use it for IDPA and also put it on my CR speed belt for USPSA. I have Comptac Holsters for all of my competition guns.
  16. Update: I put enough rounds through the gun last night at the range to be confident that the problem is solved. No more dead trigger issues. It just needed a good, thorough cleaning. My bad.
  17. I took the whole thing apart this afternoon and cleaned out all the gunk. There was a lot of crud in the sear housing, all over the place. The sear, the plunger and spring, etc. were all very dirty. Cleaned it all and put it back together. Before I cleaned it the trigger and reset worked okay. But after I cleaned it, I noticed the difference right away. The trigger was crisper and clicky. The reset was noticeably loader and crisper. I'll take it out this week and give it a workout, but I suspect that the problem is solved. Thanks, everyone, for your helpful advice! Jeff
  18. The apex spring and plunger. I got it new, but a complete strip down and cleaning is probably in order. Apex makes a sear and offers both large and small springs. If you have the earlier design small spring and plunger under the Apex sear, that could be part of the problem. I'll check on that. Thank you!
  19. OK, here is your fix. Apex put up this video for a trigger installation but covers in detail the adjustment of the trigger bar if "dead trigger" or sear failure reset problem shows up. This is an excellent video to give you an understanding how the trigger works. Thanks for that video. I don't have that particular trigger, but the last half of the video may be helpful in identifying my problem. One thing for sure, I'll be stripping the gun down and cleaning and checking it all here in the next few weeks.
  20. Good advice. But I actually did that last month. That's not it. Thanks.

  22. Maybe someone can help me fix this. I've got a M&P Pro 9mm. It's got an Apex comp trigger and RAM. I've had this gun for 3 years. Shot probably 8-10K rounds through it. Shoot monthly IDPA, USPSA, practice, etc. Never any problems whatsover. Utterly reliable. The past two matches I've had a problem. It typically happens at the reload, either slide lock reload or USPSA-type reload. Insert the new mag. Round chambers. Slide returns to battery. No bang. NO CLICK when I squeeze the trigger. There's no mark on the primer. It's like the striker didn't reset with the last shot or the reload. It's NOT that there is a click and no bang. There's no click. The trigger's not reset. This happened twice in both matches. Not on every reload. It happened again once last night during practice. Just once out of 200 rounds or so. I've had the striker out and cleaned it. Maybe I just need to replace it and see what happens. Any advice? Thanks! Jeff
