  1. Dillon 550B. I love mine and have 10k rounds on it easy. Not even a sign of WEAR!
  2. Wasn't sure if this should go in the "what I like" forum, but I knew singlestack would shut it down right away. (jk SS) Back on point....THIS SCALE IS AWESOME!!!!!! Just wanted to give it a +1, A+, and whatever else might help future buyers take the plunge. I still like my Dillon Terminator scale, but this one can weigh heavier weights and has more versatility for non-reloading applications. Anyway, i love it! Thanks Brian! Has anyone else purchased one of these? Note: read the instructions to calibrate (not zero) it first! Mine was off by 1gr out of the box according to 2 check weights I have. Calibration should only be needed upon initial setup. Don't just start reloading or you might be suprised at the range.
  3. Microsoft always "knows" I want to select the "." (period) after a word
  4. I hate that kind of nonsense too!! They feel that they can just throw you around because they know you won't do anything for 7 bucks. I've always told myself when I'm old and retired, I'll have the time to fight stuff like that to the DEATH and teach them a lesson. In your case, I'd get a letter from them in writing saying that the $7.84 is all that is required to close your account PERIOD and that you're not paying them until you get it in writing because of their "fishy" billing practicies. Once you receive the letter, I'd send them a certified letter back stating that you have enclosed a money order for the $7.84 and for them to consider your account CLOSED per their letter (attached). Then, keep the letter they sent you FOREVER as proof that the account is considered closed. If they demand payment before that process can take place, send your letter anyway (notarized) stating that they should consider your account closed and if they ding your credit you will sue them for all they're worth. What a mess for such a small amount of money. Depending on their credability, you might be glad you followed that process. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer but have received advice like this from lawyers and had to go through the process with a web hosting company way back when.
  5. Great to hear that!!!! I believe 2 of mine (for sure) will have to be split/drilled apart. Doc said he might have to remove some bone from my jaw on the worst one (lower left). Hope he's wrong and it's just floating in there. haha
  6. If you're loading new cases, the case hasn't expanded from firing at all. This includes the base and primer pocket area, so QUICK TIP on priming NEW cases: Take a little extra time and manually flip your primers in preparation for tube pickup (i.e. so the explosive side is down in your flip tray). LIGHTLY spray a little One Shot Case Lube on them and load up your tube. You'll find that this makes it SOOO much easier to prime. You can also spray the primer pocket in your cases but I don't know anyone who would want to line up a bunch of itty-bitty 9mm cases on the workbench. Plus, you get lube all over the cases...and everyone knows how I feel about lubing pistol cases Just leave them in the bin and lube the primers themselves. You should only have to do this on the first loading. After the cases expand, it's smooth sailing.

    Which one?

COKE, all the way!!! Copenhagen or Skoal?
  8. +1 I think they are inviting the conspiracy theorists on this. He was shot in the head which goes against most teachings in a firefight. This means he could not be easily identified visually afterwords. AND he was burried at sea? Come on??? I think it was smart to chuck him overboard. That will do many things: 1. Keep loyalists from making some sort of "shrine" out of his grave; 2. Eliminate the possibility of anyone ever getting warrants or approvals to exhume his body and somehow, some way prove it's not him by some bogus test; and 3. Keep him off our d**n continent.
  9. The lubed pistol case comment was taken and returned in jest The referenced link doesn't prove that a manual is needed, only proves you cant fix stupid Larry hahah True enough, true enough. I've always ask myself how stuff like that happens and how the HECK you get enough powder in an '06 cartridge to cause that kind of damage. When I load 'em up with Varget or 4064, they're already full anyway!
  10. I really enjoy reading the stories posted here. Barring a few of the "horror" stories told here, I think I'll be ok. I guess the reason I'm so nervous is because I suffer a little "white coat fever" anyway and have NEVER taken anything more than a few tylenol. They're giving me Percocet (oxycodone) for the pain, so hopefully I'll be as high as a kite and minimal pain. I can tell you I am sooooo glad they are putting me completely under. They're also numbing me up so when I wake up, shouldn't have any pain for a few hours while that stuff wears off. I plan on popping an oxy before then so when I come off of the novacain, I'll be comfortable. The doc talked about the nerves AND the sinus cavity and the xrays now are freakin' AMAZING. I looked at the digital image on his screen and you can see the nerves and sinus cavity. He said none of the roots are protruding in there and the nerves are far enough away from my lower teeth that it shouldn't be a problem. Nonetheless, you sign the waiver.
  11. http://www.gundigest.com/reloading-handloading-articles-advice/blow-up You may want to read the article above now, or choose to wait until later I don't lube pistol cases, I used a combination of smilies and wording and even a few "..." in my post to form what is known as a joke.
  12. I've had dentists after my wisdom teeth since the Civil War:)) Forty years later, they're still after them, but I still haven't had a single problem with them:)) From what I've read on the internet - there's almost no good reason to have your wisdom teeth out, unless you own the BMW agency your dentist buys from:)) You may be an exception, but take a peek at "extract wisdom teeth" on the internet, and see if you want to proceed next week. I doubt it - If you're having severe pain or other major problems, pls ignore this posting. Good luck, Jack Ohhhh...I KNOW it's not pretty. Problem is, even though they're not bugging me NOW, they're cutting into the molars in front of them beneath the gums, so they WILL bother me soon enough. Not something I want to deal with, so getting it done at once AND asleep for it....Thanks for the responses so far!! Sounds like I'll live through it.
  13. All, Thanks for the replies! The surgeon is an MD and a maxillofacial surgeon, so he's more experienced than the normal oral surgeon. I didn't know to get the pain meds BEFOREhand. I hope they give me plenty of local anesthesia (novacain?) as WELL as put me out. When I wake up, I don't want to feel anything. :-) I asked him straight forward if he'd been burned by drug abusers and shyed away from prescribing the good stuff, and he said no, he would be sure to keep me comfortable. The only thing I'm a little worried about is I have a fishing trip planned exactly 1 week after the surgery. I'm trusting that I will be able to make my own judgement on whether I'll be up for going. Getting it done on a thursday and have till Sunday night to recover, then back to work on Monday and leave Thursday for the trip. Hopefully there will be no complications and he does a good stitch job. Planning on filling a water bottle with saltwater and gargling with it several times a day while I'm on the trip....not even sure if I'll still need to by then. I'll have to ask the doc. 3 of my teeth are laying sideways behind my regular molars, one sideways and pointing a little DOWNWARD! The last one is my only normal wisdom tooth. I'm 25 and he said I'm right on the cutoff age where they don't want to do it (since they don't bother me).
  14. Getting all 4 wisdom teeth out (3 impacted) next weekend.....share your experiences! I'm pretty nervous. Ill be COMPLETELY out for the procedure, thankfully....general anesthesia. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
  15. True...those Lapuas and Bergers are very expensive. You're right about using what works....that's what it comes down to. Hopefully this thread will give you a place to start. Bottom line is you PROBABLY want to stay on the lighter side (168gr and below), but even THAT may prove to be incorrect for your gun. Remy 700 in .308 is like the 1911 in .45....LOOOOTS of options. Have fun!
  16. Just out of curiosity, why a new FS? Original poster said he didn't have very good distance accuracy with it. Poor distance accuracy equates to poor(er) close range accuracy. Even if it's an A at close range, one must still be concerned about those 40yd targets. It can make or break you. Perfect balance should be good FS with enough of a gap (when lining up the sights) to provide fast sight alignment. Just trying to give suggestions based on his OWN observations, not my personal opinions.

    Wind

I really hate this springtime southern New Mexico wind!!! It's driving me crazy because I can't shoot as much as I want, or at least it's not as fun as when it's calm outside. And all the poppers get knocked down at the match unless they're set to .50BMG standards. Maybe a rant on here will get me through the next few weeks when it will (hopefully) calm down.
  18. LOL, I'll keep a lookout! Actually changed it back to normal already.
  19. EXACTLY right! That's why it's important to buy supplies that are meant for pools and trust the salesmen. Controlling the pH of your (non salt) pool DOES have a bit to do with sanitation, but there are many other reasons for keeping your water solution balanced. A few are: To keep the mechanical parts of your pool (pumps etc) from corroding/dissolving due to incorrect pH; prevent pool from "naturally" trying to balance itself by absorbing surface materials, thus decreasing the total dissolved solids in the water; and finally, reducing the risk of skin rashes and/or eye irritation from bacteria etc.
  20. 2. Ed Brown Cobra Carry with a new FS.
  21. Glad you joined the forums! Welcome! As I'm sure you already know from lurking, there is a ton of info here and alot of great guys and gals. I'm nowhere near VA, but I'm sure you won't have any trouble linking up with other shooters and finding matches to attend. Great to hear that you got the youngster interested in shooting, too!!
  22. Let's say you make $25/hr. Imagine if you were to do all that online research and compile a notebook/binder with the info. Would it take you more than 1 hr? For $25 (cost of a reloading manual), Lee/Hornady/Lyman/and Sierra have already done that for you!!! To each his own.....heck, some people lube their pistol cases!!! JMO
  23. Erik S.

    Which one?

Some would prefer BOTH!!! Gutter mind aside, In & Out! Windows or Linux/Unix?
  24. A guess is that a Varget/155gr Berger combo would work really well, too! The 155gr Lapua Scenars have been popular in the .308 world for a long time. Stick to proven bullets and you'll be pleased with your results! .308's are fun!
