  1. I know this won't help you disassemble your pistol right now, but give STI a call about getting a takedown tool. They're like ten bucks, (crazy), tell them it was not included with your gun. I've had the best luck talking to Chris in customer service.
  2. I use a Ciener .22 conversion kit for my AR. Good, cheap practice. It's also a lot more fun (and quiet) to shoot rimfire indoors.
  3. I thought you just wanted some ten-rounders. And yes, in my experience, there a lot of people that don't seem to care about the AWB law. But [crossing fingers mode ON] this will all be a moot point in 10 months.
  4. Brownells has them. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/Store/Pro...UILD+COMPONENTS
  5. I'll say Wilson mags too. As far as the pistol, trade it in on a Kimber.
  6. I used the Wilson 10 rounders with my SS and would have that exact problem. It came from dropping them on concrete shooting indoors. The drop would spread the feed lips out. Just a little bit of squeezing at the top with a pair of pliers got them dropping out again.
  7. My father is a retired PGA professional. He's been videotaping swings for as long as I can remember. I think that videotaping is a very valuable training aid. I just use an old VHS-C camcorder. Tape the stages I shoot, watch them a few times on the small screen to figure out what I need to practice, and reuse the tape. If you do go digital, make sure you get a camcorder with enough resolution to make out finger placement.
  8. I ran a "non STI" recoil plug in my gun for a long time with no problems.Only thing I had to do was open up the hole 1/32".
  9. kinda reminds me of something a hot rod guy told me a while ago. If its in primer it still has possibilities, if its painted its done.
  10. I am a fan of the recoil master. That being said, there are a few things that need to be understood to get the best performance out of it. It's best to have a competent smith take a look at your frame, slide and barrel to make sure you have a proper fit and everyting is going to run properly. I have also noticed a peculiar uh, "hiccup" in slide travel when shooting semi-wadcutter bullets. The diiference between the RM and a light variable spring is that the light spring opens quickly and closes hard, whereas the RM opens quickly and closes soft. That's where the hiccup comes in. The slide slows down slightly when feeding the SWC because of its profile. I started shooting FMJ or HP and this went away. I also prefer to run a 17 pound mainspring with the RM.
  11. i've got two factory ten rounders if ya want em. only used a couple of times. i'll let you have em for twenty bucks each plus shipping.
  12. http://www.winchester.com/ammunition/companyinfo/questions/ Try here.
  13. If you like bells and whistles and want to do it right the first time get a Remington Competition Master. It's ready to go out of the box. http://www.remington.com/firearms/shotguns...tion_master.htm
  14. Yes, but are they shooting .40 because they like the feel or just want to simplify things at the reloading bench? I love .40 in a widebody but don't like it in a single stack.
  15. It's called "cruiser ready". We use it at our 3 gun matches frequently. You shoot a long gun, set it down, and draw your pistol.
  16. I look at hard chrome or nickel as a "final step". Make sure you have everything done that you want before spending the money on the finish. As far as which finish, I'd say hard chrome. Properly done, the fit and finish will last forever.
  17. Jim Anglin of Sailor's Custom Guns. Would have him build me a gun no matter what the cost. Will build you EXACTLY what you you want, have it done faster than you expect, and won't charge you an arm and a leg to do it.
  18. Skeeter, If that's the case I'll shoot a 50 AE. Even bigger holes!
  19. Why not an STI in .40, then get a 38 super barrel and mags? Benny Hill said something about this in another thread.
  20. I actually like .40 more than .45. Sight moves more straight up and down.
  21. You are allowed to use your LE duty rig in USPSA (IPSC in the U.S.) and IDPA. If that's what you use while on the job you are allowed to use it in either game. There is a law enforcement category in USPSA. Stock Service Revolver Division is all scored minor anyway, so you would actually be handicapping yourself by shooting major loads. Whoever is telling you these things about IDPA rules should go check a rulebook.http://idpa.com/rulebook5-2-01/Rulebook.pdf
  22. so for a limited gun it's better to go with the short and for an open gun the short wide?
