Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Any idea as to timeframe for when registration will open to all? Sounds like it will be a must for 2013, I sure hope I can make it.
  2. Many thanks to Chris, Sherwyn and the entire Area 3 staff for an outstanding match! Fun, challenging stages and I can't imagine anyone running a more efficient match than these fine folks. Area 3 2013 is already on my calendar. Great job!
  3. Thanks to all for the great contact info, really looking forward to the trip. Calvary45, I noticed the Ft. Polk location on your post. A special thanks for your service! Good shooting, Jim
  4. Heading up to St. Louis for the 4th of July this year. Can anyone recommend a good local match the weekend before or after (June 25/26 or July 9/10)? Seems like it would be a nice change. Thanks in advance, Jim
  5. Rudy Project makes some fantastic shooting glasses. Try checking out their vendor tent and sending a note to Kevin. The 2Alpha coupon code gets 30% off but I'm not sure if that applies to the prescription lenses. Good luck.
  6. The original may be my favorite movie so I've hesitated seeing this one. Jeff Bridges playing one of my favorite John Wayne roles is a hard concept for me to grasp. I guess I need to suck it up and be open to a modern interpretation. Maybe the new Mattie will be a fair trade.
  7. I didn't see any threads for this season of the show so I thought I would open one up to see what's stirring. I like the show for its dialog and story development. The scene with Art chasing the old bank robber on foot, while taking care to grab the criminal's oxygen tank, was fantastic. They always seem to throw in some humorous verbal at some point in each show. This season repeated the theme of the hero stepping up to a fight when he shouldn't have and getting an educational beating. Not the expected, or desired, outcome but an interesting effort to avoid cookie cutter story lines. Plenty of entertainment and plenty of mistakes to point out. What does everyone think?
  8. Turning off the geo-tagging seems to be the key. Seems like the vendors would not have the default setting "on" but that seems to be the norm. Saw a security release from work that some cameras also have the feature and can present the same risk. Don't recall the models but it is a point to remember.
  9. A good friend brought his Flip HD to a local match a couple of months ago. Simple to use; turn it on, press the red button to start, press again to stop. Comes with rechargeable battery pack or you can swap in alkalines in a pinch. Videos were great and the Flip Share site offers editing capability. Seems like a fine and simple training aid. Mine came in a few weeks ago and has been a big help reviewing "room for improvement". They're running about $130-$135 on the web for the 2 hour capacity version. Not familiar with the Kodak. Best of luck, video is a great aid. Jim
  10. Oooooh, I really should NOT have watched that.
  11. Jack, You and this year's SCC staff put on a fine match. Thanks again for all the hard work. Jim
  12. I just shot the PPR last weekend for the very first time, production gun with two mag changes but it was still a blast. The video above looked way too familiar and I swear there was a voice in my head yelling "MORE BULLETS" too! Most effective method seemed to be 2, 3, 4 the 1 on the top row and then clean the bottom 1, 2, 3, 4. Let one of the weights fall off and Katy bar the door! Nice addition to a match unless you're a revo guy.
