i could be wrong, but i would think unnecessarily undersizing your brass would reduce the life of them. Which doesn't seem to be very long for 38 super cases.

I shot 38 super in my open gun for several years. I ran all cases thru a U die. No noticeable wear. I re used my brass, and frankly, quit counting the # of times it was reloaded. I know it was way over 15 reloads shooting 175pf. I shot it until it split. You are going to lose it faster than you'll wear it out IMHO.

I Udie'd for reliability reasons. I wanted every round to feed, every time.......and it did.

Thats why I use the u die I just always have for everything. especially when I shot limited to get that 40 glock bulge out.Just didnt think they would coke bottle so much in super lol. will find out tomorrow if they run ok

Using a lee undersize die to size my super brass and it looks like my 9 major rounds with the coke bottle look. Is this common in super also? I thought it only did this with taper cases? First time i am loading super.

Well the best part of all of this is I dropped my gun off to my smith Friday for major slide lightening and 3 popple holes. Lol do I get to do this all over again. I do like playing with loads and experimenting.

I broke a reverse plug sometime ago and got another from a buddy that was already trimmed and fit my gun. Now I have a new one and need to fit it to my slide. Looking at it seems as though I just need to remove the excess from the front end of the plug so that is does not contact the the comp. Seems to simple lol. So is that it? I was just going to put it on my belt sander and slowly remove material and keep checking the fit?

Yes, I'm running 9.8gr with a 115 JHP out of a 5" Katana. It has 7 barrel holes and the Akai compensator. Power factor about 175.

I went ahead decided one of two things was going to happen. I was going to get the pf i wanted or was going to stop from pressure signs.So I pushed to see what i could get out of it. and I am glad I did. I think you guys are right you have to push this powder. It is cleaner @ 175. and VERY flat out of this gun. I dont think I would have to run it up so much to get what i wanted if I had some holes and better comp.

To be honest I am at the range right nowt and am out of the 100 test rounds I loaded. I got a bag full of 124 gr jhp 7.5 grains of auto comp prolly 700 rounds. I am going back home loading 300 more he-6 rounds and coming back.

1.165. I got solid 173 no pressure at all going 7.6 to control light variable and that's it this load is awesome

Well it is taking me 9.5 grains to get past 171 I want to be around 175 I must have a slow bbl

I decided to give the hs-6 115 combo one more try so off to the range i went today with 9.3 grains of hs-6 with a 115 pdelta FMJ RN @ 1.165 with a wolf SRP.

I got 171 pf with this load. and i will be damned if it did not give me better hits and faster times on my drills. so tomorrow I am dropping 9.5 grains to run it up to about 173 and see if I can get some more out of it.

I think the thread/size is standard .685 40 tpi but I was just wanting to check to ake sure even the older shueman bbls had that also

I have an older schueman 4 hole threaded barrel and I want to change my comp to the new Shoto comp any idea on how to tell what the thread size and pattern is?

Yeah man thanks I knew about projectile size ect I just wasn't sure about the seating die since a lot of the seat dies also crimp.

I currently use a Dillion 650 to load 9 major. I was wondering if I could just use my 9 mm die backed out a bit to seat .38 super comp. then all I need is u die and fcp die to save money.

sweet thats what I was hoping to to hear! this way I can run one powder for both my 38 comp that being built and my 9 major gun! should be pretty flat yes ? I know the 115 hs6 9.2 grain combo in 9 major gun is prety nice!
