  1. I really only have time to shoot on weekends and hit a few major matches last year. I shot about 1500K .22 8000K .45 500 9mm. I'm going to start shooting 3 gun this year so I see my round count increasing significantly in 2012.
  2. Tav where are you ordering your reloading supplies from? Since I don't plan on picking brass, I will need a good place to buy that aslo. I usually buy my powder and primers from Powder Valley inc.. All of my pistol bullets I purchase from Bear Creek Bullets.
  3. That's good advice Tav, I am going to need some rifles to start filling the safe I have on the way!!! At least 1 AR and one shot gun to start. followed by 3 gun matches!!!
  4. Practice with what you shoot in matches and buy that 1050 and start loading all the 9 major you can send down range!!
  5. With that fancy new Limcat on the way you're going to be loading mostly 9 major. .40 will be an after thought for an occasional IDPA match. In addition it won't be long before you've caught the AR bug and will be loading .223. Pull the trigger on the Super 1050 and call it a done deal!!!
  6. I have found Clays to be much cleaner than W231, WST, Titegroup, or Unique in my .45 acp loads. I have settled with 3.6 grains of Clays under a Bear Creek 230g molly bullet. 1.26 oal 171 PF.
  7. Hard Chrome over the beat up Kimpro finish on my old Kimber Custom Classic.
  8. It's the perfect kitchen accessory!!!
  9. I recently won a prize certificate for hardchrome finishing services from Metaloy Inc. I always like to support and put out a positive plug for those who give to our sport. Chris Peters and his crew were great to deal with throughout the entire process. Prompt responses to several e-mails and questions I had regarding the process. Custoer service was great from start to finish. When asked how long it would take Chris told me 3 weeks from door to door. I shipped my gun to Chris on Dec. 13th, the finished product arrived via Fedex today. Anyone looking to get their firearm refinished I would reccomend checking these guys out before you make a decision. Tavis
  10. Chuck, There are way to many guns out there that don't meet the new trigger pull limit in production but that didn't seem to stop the BoD's decision. I'm not confident we won't see something like this in the future.
  11. This is going to be a great match. The summer can't get here fast enough!!
  12. Just ordered one! I figure between the CZ and my M&P pro with the soon to be illegal trigger I will have something to compete with in 2013 when this all shakes out.....
  13. Thia is prime example why successful professional sports organizations like the NFL,MLB, NHL, NBA etc. have a rules committee. The commissioner and BoD don't have the power to arbitrarily change the rules without input form the stakeholders who are affected the most, those who play the game! These committees are made up of players, coaches, managers, owners, and BoD members so the voices of all are heard especially those who the rule impacts the most. From what i've gathered the majority of the BoD members who voted to change the rule don't even shoot production nor have much experience shooting the division all together. Ridiculous rules such as these are what drove me away from IDPA. I hope USPSA doesn't continue down this road as well. I guess as a member my only real course of action is to not renew my membership and shoot locally only since it is clear the BoD does not have the best interest it's membership at the forefront. 14. Sounds like i'm going to need to ditch my M&P and spend more cash on a CZ so I can compete in a production!!!! "Common sense is the least common of all senses" what is the BOD thinking????
  15. You are lucky it is that tight from the factory!! Stop bragging and just shoot it...
  16. All of you using the Tripp mags, will they load JHP's without problems? Thanks
  17. Very informative thread. I've been looking to get a .40 SS in the near future.
  18. Not sure what you are running, but an aluminum guide rod will save you some weight over steel or tungsten.
  19. I run a 26" as well! Go with what you have, if you don't like then try a different barrel.
  20. Where did you come across the installation instructions? I searched around Brileys website looking for SX3 instructions with no luck.
  21. Good thinking! Thanks for the link. I bet my local smith will be able to install it for me.
  22. Sean, Thanks for the info. Aaron, Where did you send yours to get the work done? Thanks Tavis
  23. What is great about the extended bolt release is that not only do you drill and tap the button, but you must take material off both sides of the button, making an egg shaped male piece. The button comes with a female egg shaped recess that you mate the two together. Once you do this, the lever will never rotate. Alot of buttons out there on the market today, you just drill and tap and screw in and will come loose with time and rotate on you, which to me is not the best way to fasten a bolt release on a shotgun, especially with all the shock/hammering that is going on when the shotgun goes off. What tools are required to remove the material so that you can mate the two sides? Any other smithing required to install the Briley release?
  24. I recently bought a Winchester SX3 to use in 3 gun. I was looking at adding an extended bolt release. What do you all think of the Briley EZ release?? Thanks Tavis
