Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. No MOS on the GSSF award form I got a couple/few weeks ago.
  2. JHC

    Want one!

I've seen reviews report measured trigger weights from just over 4 lbs to just under 5. And more data points to kick on that?
  3. Hate to sound like such a salesman, but I've seen your posts on p-t.com and m4c and think you might be exactly the kind of shooter that would really appreciate how cool they are, they're real working duty/SD guns that happen to make great competition guns, finicky race-guns they're not. Properly maintained, I'd feel totally comfortable running 1k through one in a class one day, shooting a match the next, and then carrying it on Monday... No problem sell on! I'm diggin' it. I also still have a college age lad around who is a lefty for my rationalization quiver. Thanks much.
  4. I followed your Gen 4 train wreck closely and with emphathy. I on the other hand have the Midas touch in buying those things. But I gave a M&P Pro 9 a 2400 round test drive a year ago because it is such a hyped platform I wanted to find out for myself. (it is a nice pistol but I traded it on a perfect Gen 4 G19) But yeah, I've been shooting more than 40 years and can't count on another 40 so I intend to try out a few other guns, just to know. I've owned and shot about 10 1911s but I don't see me doing a whole lot of .45 shooting any more. I've seen guys running CZ competition setups like bats out of hell and I'd like to see what kind of FAST I could put up with one. I guess it would be a Shadow or maybe the much cheaper 85 Combat to ease into the ZED.
  5. Thanks for this thread guys. I'm a perfectly happy and heavily invested Glock shooter but have always wanted to try a CZ and Stephen Camp used to encourage me to try one someday. This has been very helpful.
  6. I like my RTF2 G21 a lot but think the most perfect combat pistol is the RTF2 G17.
  7. This weekend I paired a .220 tall Ameriglo Hack front sight (ordered separately) with a Warren Sevigny Carry rear on a Gen 4 G19. This gives a slightly tighter "window" for that orange and tritium wide front. IMO this is a fantastic combo. There is for my eyes, still plenty of light on each side of the front for great speed and yet it makes longer range precision easier in my experience. This morning 14 of 15 shots off hand on a 6" paper plate off hand at tape measured 72 feet was not especially tough nor was a sub 6 second FAST drill clean. This may be my favorite combo so far.
  8. We've got four fantastic Gen 4 9mms here but way too many are having problems. The state of the art of current troubleshooting Gen 4s is to try and swap out the extractor for something pre-2010 if you have one or can access one or even swap out like for like. A lot of guys leading the troubleshooting are focusing here. And as in the case of Todd Green's long term test gun, seem to have some success with this. You also have some options like Jaeger and alternate factory RSAs to swap out. Try to only change one thing at a time however.
  9. nice wall hanger right there! Nice.
  10. FWIW - I recently received a RTF2 G17 from my funny little honey as an anniversary present. Beautiful and functional fish gills and all. Well, while waiting for the new Trij HD sight sets to hit my store, I cobbled together a set from spare parts and hit gold. A Warren Sevigny black rear combined with a XS BD front. Turns out using the BD as a front post in a conventional manner was spot on. The BD fit in the rear notch with just a sliver of space around it in the view. It shoots like a house a fire. Over several weeks I've managed one PR after another with precision groups at 15 and 25 yds. This was stunning to me as I'd long ago abandoned these Big Dots and their shallow V rears. FWIW - YMMV.
  11. We've got two early Gen 4 G19s here. 2685 rds through one, 350 through the other. Both with the original 03 spring. Zero stoppages. FWIW.
  12. I look forward to the range report. Thanks
  13. When shooting Fed 115 gr fmj I find it is not uncommon for both my Gen 4's and my well worn Gen 3's to barely eject these - such that I'll bounce some off the top of my head sometimes. Heck, sometimes they roll back on the slide just in front of the rear sight! Yet even standard pressure (not even +P) ejects several feet strong and consistently. This would not be unique for my experience with any Glock pistol.
  14. Thanks for the heads up. That's the first I've seen that mentioned anywhere.
  15. ck1 - interesting stuff. I think I've been pretty consistent (hither and yon) never trying to talk anyone out of a Gen 3 but simply reporting my good results with now four Gen 4 guns. So long as they fit one's reach I think the RTF2 Gen 3 models might be the pinnacle of evolution for Glock 9mms. The .40 Glock is probably best in Gen 4 format. I found the Gen 4 G23 to run pretty much as flat as a 19 which seemed just sick.
