  1. Here's my effort that was good enough to get me the 3rd place AM slot. I felt that I shot pretty well until I watched the video. I think the 5 second penalty for a miss had me spooked. I can see myself looking for hits instead of trusting my sights. I am still very happy with how I placed. I also had a great time shooting with our squad of RO's.
  2. This was my first ProAm 3-gun match and my first trip to Rockcastle. I had a great time shooting the AM match with the RO's. A big thanks to Gary, Trapr, Dale, Nobles, Linda, all of the sponsors and behind the scenes people that made this match happen. I also enjoyed RO'ing AM stage 7(Fri morning) and AM stage 4(Fri & Sat). I look forward to coming back to Rockcastle to shoot again. I will likely work the match again and might even shoot Pro next year. Ryan Newbern
  3. I'm the RO that got moved from AM7(yep, was working with your twin brother) over to AM4 after your wreck. I'm glad you are OK. BTW, I enjoyed the extra shade that AM4 provided, but I do hate that you were injured. There was one squad that I worked on Friday morning on AM7 with your brother that came through to AM4 Friday afternoon. They thought Dave and I were following them.
  4. FYI, I just checked some Herters 223 and a magnet will pick up the bullet. I suspect that all Wolf/WPA would be the same way.
  5. Surely the NS plate will have to fall, just as a threat plate will have to fall before it counts. If they are counting BB's on the NS plates, then I will be blasting away.
  6. Thanks for the advice guys. Thanks you too MiniUzi. I will try not to hit the NS plate.
  7. I noticed that a few stages had NS steel plates next to threat steel plates. Can anyone share some advice on dealing with this? Stage descriptions specifies that plates should engaged with shot. My guess is use a full or mod-full choke. Any other tricks?
  8. I'd sure hate to be one of those Limited 6 shooters. sdTrust me, an 8 shooter this year was bad enough. Next year, I will likely be Limited.
  9. I enjoyed helping run squad 6 today. We had a great bunch of guys and things moved along smoothly. I'm looking forward to sending my own bullets down range tomorrow.
  10. Thanks for sharing. These are looking really fun, some of them even look a little bit SSTK friendly.
  11. Ryan, Would love to have you work - Shooting both days starts at 8am this year. I only have 2 Staff slots for Saturday, shoot Friday open. More going the other direction. Personal Email me ASAP when you know and I will pencil you in. Mark K. Thanks Mark. Looking forward to it.
  12. My Spartan 45 has nearly 5500 rounds through it and has been fantastic.
  13. What time does the match start on both days? I am considering working the match if help is still needed.
  14. How is the smoke with this load. I also use moly and have been serching for "the" load. BTW, 135gr moly with W231 is NOT the answer.
  15. Both are nice optics. I bought an MTAC earlier this year and I am very happy with it. I have used it in 3gun practice and matches out to 425 yards. I never use the illumination because I see no need to. But if I wanted to, it would likely not be bright enough on a bright day. I had the chance to shoot a Vortex in a side match this past weekend. Its a very nice scope, but I prefer the reticle of the Mtac for 3gun and carbine matches. Also, when I was scope shoping, I wouldn't even consider a scope with exposed turrets. FWIW, I went with an American Defense mount with no regrets.
  16. Your welcome. This was my first time SOing the AL state. 28.71 with 3 down was a pretty good run on that stage. Best time was 20.43 and the worst was 68 seconds.
  17. I thought it was a great match too. It was a tough match but there was nothing too rediculous like last year. I am anxiously awaiting the results. BTW, I was an SO on stage 3(revolver in the van). I noticed some interesting things watching the different shooters go through.
  18. The Masters has been a great match in the past and I suspect that it will be even better this year. I'm looking forward to attending.
