  1. Will Guga Ribas mag pouches fit on a Double Alpha belt? I am wondering because the Double Alpha belt are thicker than the norm.
  2. I use the Gunsite low mounted thumb safety. Fit 2. You never know when you might need a spare.
  3. Don't forget to oil the gun profusely. I used Mobile One. I belong to the camp that believes in using alot of oil on 1911s. I have had feed jams because I didn't use enough oil on a newer STI. Lowered the recoil spring wt and actually oiled it very well. Problem solved. New mag springs can put alot of upward tension on the slide, slowing it down, inducing FTFs. A new gun and new mags have break in periods. Leave new mags fully loaded for several days.
  4. I put the Mitchells right side release in my single stack and my edge. I have small hands. It works better for me. Pricey though. Worth every penny in my opinion. $165+
  5. Does the Mr. Bullet feeder work well with coated bullets? .356 diameter?
  6. How far away should the chrono be when shooting during load development?
  7. I got a Brazo's tuned Edge and I couldn't be happier. Has been 100% reliable.
  8. To take full advantage of the Redding competition pro seater you should get the tool head clamp kit from uniquetech. Tool head movement increases OAL variances. I found the best results with the pro seater, tool head clamp kit, Montana Gold FMJ bullets, same head stamped brass, and a slower but consistent pull on the press handle. OAL of +- .002. BUT it makes no difference for the uspsa competition shooter. This drive to reduce OAL variances will drive you to drink too.
  9. So true! The type of powder you use affects grouping too. Titepoop is the worst. I found that my Titegroup loads didn't tighten up until I was near 140 PF.
  10. 3.2 grains of N320 or Titepoop with a 147 gr Bayou bullet flat point AOL 1.135 PF 133 in a Gen 3 G34
  11. Get a nice one (Dillon, RCBS, Gempro) and a cheap one. Verify one with the other if you have doubts. Always drop 10 measurements then divide by 10 to find out where your true measurement is. Carry on!
  12. Add 2 caps of mineral spirits along with that Nu Finish. Problem solved. Change out the media every 4 or 5 batches of brass ( 2-3 k) or when it gets too dirty.
  13. Interesting read. Might depend on the powder used. For example, IMR 7625 is a very forgiving powder. Titegroup is not at all forgiving of compressed loads. Food for thought.
  14. That's dangerous advice. Reducing OAL does cause pressure to increase. This is not a proportional equation though. some times it's exponential. I've watched several guns blow up and it's heart breaking.
  15. If you drop the OAL down 30,000ths + you will see a rise in pressure. Whether or not the gun explodes has yet to be determined. YOU should rework up the load. It's cheaper than an ER visit and a broken gun. Good luck!
  16. I just would be super careful. Shortening OAL to increase PF is dangerous. Shortening OAL can have an exponential impact on pressure. Titegroup is especially not tolerant of compressed loads. I have seen a few Glocks blow up.
  17. That's pretty short. My G17 and G19 (gen 3) can plunk at 1.165.
  18. I see a few powders that are more accurate with higher power factors. Example - Titegroup can be extremely accurate..... at 140 pf out of my G34 or XDM. All bullets touch at 50 feet. At 130 pf they formed a 5 inch pattern. [emoji32]
  19. Is your Glock 17 a Gen 5? I heard (read) that the new Gen 5s don't have quit as long of a chamber as previous generation Glocks. My G 17 Gen 3 will take rounds as long as 1.165. The limiting factor is usually the magazines. You can run into trouble going out past 1.150 with the mags. Glocks usually do ok with pretty sloppy bullets. "Removing the bell" too much ( less than 0.377) and you are surely over crimping coated bullets. I advise most new reloaders to stick with FMJ or CMJ untill they master the "removing the bell" part. My G17 can feed bullets with a bell diameter up to .383 with zero issues. Use you barrel to determine what bell diameter your gun can function with. If your gun has a tight chamber, coated bullets might not be the best option for you. You also may need to increase the flare to stop the coating from being scraped off during bullet seating, with coated bullets. FMJ and CMJ bullets are much more forgiving of a tight flare. Use the EGW U-Die to provide a solid amount of case neck tension and insurance against bullet setback. Live and learn.
  20. WST - too Temp sensative (any Winchester powder) Titepoop _ too hot and dirty and snappy, Not bulky enough IMR 7625 Temp sensative, less than WST though- but discontinued ( but I have 24lbs) Solo 1000 - discontinued VV N320 BEST. Not Temp sensative, negligable lot to lot variation, good bulk. Not smokey, Meters extremely well. 4.2 to 4.3 Grains with a 124 CMJ grain Montana Gold bullet OAL 1.135. 3.5 to 3.6 grains with a 135 grain Bayou Bullet or SNS casting OAL 1.135. 3.2 to 3.3 grains with 147 Grain flat point Bayou bullet OAL 1.135. 3.5 to 3.7 Grains with a 147 CMJ Montana Gold bullet OAL 1.135. Use the lower end for a Gen 3 G34 and the upper end for an STI Edge 9mm. All these loads make a 130 to 132 PF. The point is, when you find a powder that you like, buy a shit ton, and stick with it. Focus more on shooting and less on reloading.
