  1. i am using Rio shells 31/4dr by 11/8 oz shot. there are not cheapo shells. i can shoot 2-3 shots then hang one up, shoot 3-4 then hang one up and then i reach up and snatch it out and keep going. very frustrating. i ordered a new recoil spring from Wolff yesterday so we'll see if that helps Jim, what kind of strange things have you encountered with yours? i sure do appreciate ya'll responding. maybe with ya'lls help we can get this thing running.
  2. Has anyone had to replace recoil spring in their 1100? My old 1100 does not want to fully eject hull. I have replaced o-rings and piston seals but this has not cured the problem. Need some help on what to do bad. Thanks
  3. Stupid question time. what are you SS shooters using for mag/holster belt? i have been using the liner belt from my CR speed belt but an wearing out the velcro which i guess i will cut out and have resewn. I don't think you can use the CR speed for SS division, right?
  4. auto zone brake cleaner and i mean it has auto zone on it, not any other brand brake cleaner but it will clean it down to metal. you should only use slide glide sparingly on a few select areas with only a dab of slide glide. use other oils and grease for rest of gun... Militec has some very good oil and grease. Mobil one synthetic oil works very well also. i put it in a needle oiler and apply it from there. my .02 cents
  5. Just wondering what a stock box 930 is running now and how much more to get it 3-gun ready. My 1100 is getting unreliable and need to make a choice on a different shotty.
  6. i'd recommend you go get at least a 40 and let me take that 9mm off your hands. honestly you would do just fine with a 9mm. when i was RO'ing a 3 gun match last fall here in MS, aka God's country, there were a lot of shooters shooting 9.
  7. I have a Kimber CustomII that I am fixing up to shoot SS with. I was wondering if any of you 1911 guru's could recommend a good over-sized extended mag. release button that want break the bank. Dillon has one made by Greider precision that is $16 but they can't seem to keep any in stock. I looked in Brownell's and Midway = $32. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  8. I am shooting 147gr BBI and they shoot excellent thru my Shadow. I tried some lead bullets the other day but did not seem to shoot as well. Not sure why but it really likes the BBI's.
  9. I went to the Shadow last spring from a glock and that was a huge change. Never shot DA before. I bought the gun from Angus and that was definitely the right thing to do. As far as the DA first shot, i have gotten to where I am prepping trigger as i coming onto target and soon as my eyes come back to front sight i break the shot. The rest is silky smooth SA shots afterwards. Great gun. You want be disappointed but do get the custom job from Angus or Matt.
  10. Thanks guys. after i thought about it i kinda figured the the box wiould kill that idea. oh well, barney up it is. love them big chunks of lead though. Shooting SS really makes you focus on your sights and stage awareness more.
  11. I know this is probably a stupid question but since I am just starting to shoot SS i was wondering if you could start a COF in SS division using a 10rd mag loaded only to 9 rounds, therefore starting 8 in mag and 1 in chamber....or does the box size limitations prevent this. I thought maybe I could do this without having to use a barney mag. Thanks for everyone's advice.
  12. i have shot several thousand of the 147grainer without a hiccup. they are also very accurate out og my cz 75 shadow and glock 34. shoot with confidence
  13. here is the load i am using with my 147gr BBI's and and both of these powders work extremely well. 3.4gr of HP-38 and WSF. i ran WSF for good while and switched to HP-38 but am happy with either one. i shoot these out of G34 and CZ 75 Shadow. they run either gun very good and accurate. if u can find either one of these you won't be disappointed. i quit using titegroup a long time ago and have switched others off of it. price is also good for either.
  14. howard leight have worked very well for me and won't break the bank. i hear conversations w/o any problem and the noise cancelling works flawlessly. keep spare batteries on hand. this is not a problem area unless they go out then it is hard to hear conversations but still cancells gunshots.
  15. I bought a shadow custom from CZ custom and it is the bomb. it is super smooth and very accurate. i can't speak for a 40 but i would say that you would not regret buying a CZ. I just need to buy more of 'em to get good overall feel
  16. i use 3.3gr of hp-38 for 9mm 147gr's from BBI and 4.0gr of bullseye under a 200gr lswc. both of these loads are very accurate and shoot extremely well. the plus side is you can use either powder for both calibers.
  17. i'm trying to get going in 3-gun and my older model remington 1100 doesn't want to play. i was incomplete shell ejection. i decided to replaced old gas piston and seal with the new ones and started getting ftf or no ejction. i found one set of old style pistons and seal but would like to have another for back-up. does anyone know where i can get a set? your help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  18. 3.3 - 3.4 HP-38 set at 1.125 oal using 147gr BBI. NEVER has failed
