  1. I have one you can play with when you come up (next week?) if you want to.
  2. A new Techwell is on the way, it's a bit smaller but I don't know how much smaller. When they get here I can post a picture comparing the two. They will interchange using the same grips.
  3. The problem that prompted this thread came about when the RO gave an instant beep and when questioned by the shooter after the cof said he counted to one between the standby and beep. He also told another RO on the stage just after the shooter finished that he should have given him more time on the beep. The argument by the shooter (and others) was that it wasn't even 1 second, it was instant. The RM said there was nothing to compare it to and the RO wouldn't fess up, so......the real question was/is, what should the shooter do in this situation? The ultimate answer is, if it happens again, don't move. If the shooter doesn't respond to the start signal then the RO will confirm that the competitor is ready to attempt the COF, and will resume the range commands from "Are you Ready?". No idea what happens if you get short changed the second time.
  4. Gary, thanks for taking the time to explain it....again. I appreciate the time and effort you've put into this and I hope it stays but I just don't understand why it has to be a 1911. I do understand your point about getting more companies involved and I agree 100% but I'm not going to buy a 1911 just so I can shoot SS when I have a 945, which is perfectly legal in CDP.
  5. Gary, any chance you can post a link to the thread with the beszt explanation? I did a search and I don't have time to go through all of that looking for it. Thanks.
  6. If the object is to increase the number of shooters, why limit it to owners of 1911's? Performance wise, there is no difference between a 1911 and a S&W 945, they're both single stack, single action, 5" .45 ACP.
  7. The birthday of the guy that invented Duct Tape is a holiday for us also........
  8. I think you're right, I missed the comma in John's email and was thinking the no applied to the grip tape or sleeves. Thanks for the eye opener.......
  9. From John Amidon (5-15-07) on modifying a Production grip:
  10. Frame is correct, I'll see if I can get him to forward the email and I'll post it.
  11. I was told today (and he showed me the printed email) that John Amidon said that grip tape or rubber sleeves ARE NOT Production legal. I thought they were........
  12. Anybody have an idea what time we'll start setting up tomorrow?
  13. Sestock, I think the point he was trying to make is we shouldn't have a whole Division limited to a pistol that was designed by JM Browning, not a 1911 made by a particular manufacturer. It would be the same as having a division limited to polymer framed striker fired pistols manufactured in Austria. What would be the choices then? It would be a Glock Division even though it wouldn't be called that. My complaint with SS (and I hope it's made permanent) is it's limited to a 1911, why? Is somebody on a nostalgia kick and that's what IPSC started with? I don't mind if the division is limited to a single stack, single action .45 but why only the 1911? My S&W PC 945 is a single stack single action .45 that is the same size and functions just like a 1911 but I can't use it in SS because it's not built on a 1911 stlye frame, what reasoning was used to exclude it? That's been my question since it started.
  14. I tried to post this question on the USPSA forum but couldn't for some reason, I sent Rob an email about it. In the meantime, maybe somebody here can answer my question..... If/When SS becomes permanent, will it be limited to only 1911's or will other ss guns be allowed to play? Does "1911 type" mean a 1911 or would any ss, single action be ok?
  15. We have donated a .22 suppressor to give away (the winner will be responsible for the transfer tax and fees) and I'm bringing an M-16 to rent with the proceeds going to the match.
  16. That's an understatement.....
  17. "Now i know i'm breaking out the racegun" "Bring it on buddy" Can I bring my new toy and play?
  18. In a 4" the UM would be the cheapest but if you want a better quality Kydex holster the Blade Tech would be an excellent choice. We have Blade Tech holsters and mag pouches in stock for just about any S&W product, no 6 week wait.
  19. Whaaaaaat? Tired of shoveling the Global Warming from your driveway?
  20. I've been using a 5" PC4006 in L-10 for about a year and I don't think you can go wrong with one. Get the trigger worked and some decent sights (insert plug here....) and you'll have a nice Production rig. Mine has helped me to some decent finishes lately in L-10 although I started out in Production with it, the light DA trigger is no handicap. I just received a prototype Warren rear sight for it and I'll try it out this weekend, it looks just like the M&P rear sight made by Warren.
  21. Contact Dan Burwell, he does a lot of M&P work, Burwell Gunsmithing
  22. ...based on a safety issue or just a procedural?
  23. Hmmm......something to look into.......
  24. Kevin, we should have our Warren sights this week, we also have the Blade Tech Revolution M&P holster and double mag pouches in stock. I hope to get them on the web site in the next day or so.
  25. The thumb safety is similar to an extended safety on a 1911 but it does not lock the slide. You can load/unload with the safety on. No comps on any of the M&P's, I didn't hear if they were thinking on that or not. I forgot what brand they said the front sight was, HiViz? Don't worry about replacement sights, we have the full line of Dawson M&P sights and the 10-8 rear sight in stock now but I haven't had time to get them on the web site. We should have the Warren rear, Burwell rear and the HiViz front sights in next week.
