Some are complaining about the rules being enforced and some are complaining that the rules are not being enforced, it's kinda like being married, whatever you do is wrong. It sounds like the MD was enforcing the rules and now he's being accused of "just handing out PE's", was he in your Division/Class? You could complain about that too. The LGB says "left behind", do you have to physically leave it or does the "spirit" come into play when you fire the next shot with the mag on the ground? There are no exemptions for brain farts in IDPA or USPSA. If you fire a shot with your foot out of the box in a USPSA match will they not give the penalty if you convince them it was an accident? The situation sucks but do we want to add the burden of trying to determine whether it was accidental or intentional? Will we have a lie detector set up next to the chronograph? Maybe the SO was still learning and the MD knew that hence the reason for telling him to add the PE (which, IMO, was the right call) or maybe the SO is a little slack on giving earned PE's and the MD knew that (we have one of those also) so he made sure it was added. Getting killed in a RL situation is irrelevent because, although it will certainly enhance your chances of survival, IDPA is a game, not training. I'll be the first to agree that the LGB needs some serious attention but we can only work with what we have, I don't understand why there is no provision on the web site for clarifications or updates.
Agreed.
