  1. I sort all my brass - .40 S&W goes in one bucket, .45 ACP goes in another, and 9mm in a third. Before I started doing that, I kept getting malfunctions... Yeah, I'm shooting a production gun that will eat anything I throw at it, and I'm not shooting at a level where it really matters (I'm inclined to think the "U" on my card just means I'm that far down the alphabet).
  2. That's awesome. I want a little galleon full of them to float in my pond and fire broadsides at the geese.
  3. I never pass up free alphas if I can help it, but I just don't know yet if I can go. It's killing me - I've only ever shot local matches at one club, so I really want to check it out.
  4. Here's a link to a couple of them (scroll down to "Competition Targets). There's also an IDPA and NRA tombstone if you're so inclined. http://www.glockfaq.com/content.aspx?ckey=Glock_FAQ_Targets The IPSC target came from www.ipsc.org - in the left frame, under "Diagrams" select "IPSC Target," print off the image, and there you go.
  5. [The Boy Scouts of America have read this forum. Hit squads have been dispatched to your homes. Have a nice day!]
  6. It depends on what I'm trying to train. I'm sort-of figuring it out as I go. If I want to work trigger squeeze, obviously I rack. For transitions, I sometimes do. For reloads, generally I don't - I still often move the finger and pull the trigger even though it's not racked, if I still have a target to "shoot." Like I said, I'm still trying to figure this stuff out. Haven't really settled into a routine yet.
  7. They're foam core. I scotch-taped a target template, cut them out with a razor, faced the "shoot" side with manila envelopes, and did the perf with the razor blade. Some time this afternoon I'll post the templates I used (or links - I have to find them again). Took a little time, but it was pretty easy.
  8. After nap time was arts-and-crafts. I have no excuse for not doing my dry fire practice.
  9. I think knowing how you handle caffeine is key - I know people who can drink a large black coffee right before bed and sleep like babies. Me, I need a little on match morning to get me started, but no more after about 7AM. I do know some folks who've dabbled in generous doses of caffeine to simulate stressed shooting, but that's another story...
  10. Soap and safety razors are the way to go - better shave, cheaper, and really doesn't take longer. I've tried straight razors, and frankly I'd rather shoot my stubble off with my .40, but that's probably lack of practice - cut myself 6-7 times. There are lots of great shaving supplies online, for not a lot of money. Do yourself a couple favors: get a real badger brush, and shave immediately following a hot shower. I actually enjoy shaving again. PM if you have any questions and I'll try to help.
  11. FN Five-seveN, Webley Fosbery Automatic Revolver, and a Nagant M1895 (with suppressor) - I don't want to feel pressure to share ammo with anyone else. Not a BS answer? Okay: M&P .40 Ruger Mk III S&W 500 4" Little animals, big animals, and people animals.
  12. Yeah, I guess it's okay... If you're into USED cars... (Seriously, though, awesome! Nicer than anything I've ever driven.)
  13. Another day in paradise...

  14. I'm excited and have to tell somebody (and the wifey couldn't possibly care less) - I just loaded my first 100 rds! .40 S&W, Rainier 180gr FP, 5.8gr VihtaVuori 3N37, with CCI 500 primers (loaded in mixed brass from the range). Frankly, as long as I don't blow the gun up I'll be pretty dang happy. I didn't have a reloading bench a few days ago. Oh, and I'm new to the forums and I like to shoot - finished 2 USPSA matches, going to a third in a few days, and I'm looking for more competitions to try out. So, hey everybody.
