This is an interesting thread. I typically pull the rifle into my shoulder with my weak hand. I do this to try to tame my rifle as it has a FA carrier and full mass buffer, so it jumps around quite a bit. Next on the list is the JP LMOS, and we'll see how the rifle handles then.

If it's the whole system, $104 sounds hard to beat. Out at our ranch I just bought a 10" AR500 plate off eBay for $60 and hung it from a stand made from scrap metal we had lying around. It is definitely not as nice as an MGM flasher, but it was a whole lot cheaper. With no other shooters around its pretty easy to hear with electronic muffs, and it's fairly easy to see with optics when shot with larger calibers (including heavy 223). I would love to have an MGM flasher or LaRue target, but I just don't have the money right now.

Well, after getting off work early and driving an hour out to the range today, I found out that it was closed. I guess I'll have to find some other time to check them out. For the match this weekend I guess I'll just pick a slug and hope it works!

Just last week I forked out the money and bought 15-20 of six different brands of slugs to try out. I'm hoping to get out to the range on Thursday to see how they do. I'll report back with my findings. Below are the ones that I'm trying out. Brenneke Tactical Home Defense Reduced Recoil - 1oz - 1378fps Federal Truball Low Recoil - 1oz - 1300fps Fiocchi Aero Low Recoil - 7/8oz - 1300fps Fiocchi Aero Low Recoil - 1oz - 1150fps Remington Slugger Managed-Recoil - 1oz - 1200fps Winchester WinLite Low Recoil - 1oz - 1200fps I did notice that the Fiocchis are longer than both the other slugs and typical birdshot loads by quite a bit. They look closer to 3" than 2 3/4", but I have yet to try them out in my m2.

Another recent college grad here. Starting with a large strategy/management consulting firm in August. Trying to get in as much shooting as I can before working 70 hours and traveling every week...

Welcome Justin! I shoot the 3-gun match out at The Impactzone most of the time. Bob always puts on a fun match. While that is the only monthly 3-gun match in the Houston area, there are quite a few pistol matches around town. There are also a few guys who drive from Houston to Austin for the monthly Texas Multigun matches to get their fix. Look forward to see you at the range!

After reading around on here I picked up 3 Mec-Gar AFC 19-round magazines to go with the 3 factory mags that came with my new Shadow. I have yet to get any rounds through the new mags, but they seem to function fine and, while the basepad profile is a little different, I don't foresee it being a problem. The one thing that is annoying me, however, is that they are slightly larger than the factory mags. I don't have my calipers here, but I made up some kydex mag pouches while using the CZ mags as a form, and the MG mags are much tighter going in the same pouches. It appears the only difference is that the MG mags have "boxier" corners, and the CZ mags are more rounded. I do not expect this to be a serious issue, just a little annoying when certain mags have certain holders. I assume the nicer mag pouches place the tensions on the sides of the mags as opposed to the edges, but I guess that's just the advantage you get when you buy nicer pouches.

Welcome! Like Jason said, there's a match toward Brookshire each month that is a good short match. If you really get the itch, there are a lot of other monthly matches around the state most weekends (Austin, Copperas Cove, and now Corpus Christi). There are, however, a lot of pistol matches around town. Hope to see you at the range!

I ran an SBEII for the past year and I just picked up an M2 last month. My honest opinion would be to wait and find an M2. I never had any problems with the SBEII running in matches, but that was because I ran high brass loads. Those loads cost double what I now run, and have noticeably more recoil (to the point that it was affecting my splits). The SBEII is a great shotgun for its intended purpose, but i don't think it's the best for the game. That said, if you find a smoking deal on one, go for it. I used the SBEII because it was my dad's turkey gun (so it was free), but as soon as I got the money I bought an M2. I think you'll be at more of a disadvantage running a 24" SBEII with heavy loads than with a 26" M2. And like Jesse said, the M2s becoming more and more available. Edit - Just can't spell...

We got one for my Dad for Fathers' Day this year. Best gift we ever gave him. All I've eaten off of it is steaks, but they are amazing! He told me that it takes a little bit to relearn how to cook on them, but once you do it's fantastic. One thing though, be sure to shop around. I talked to every dealer in the area before we bought ours, and they all gave us the same price. However, when we went with the dealer nearest us, they managed to give us a 20% discount in the store.

After reading this thread I decided to dust off my 124gr MG JHPs that I gave up on when I switched to the 147 MG CMJs for my last Production gun. Last night I loaded a few hundred over some Titegroup for my Shadow, and I had to load them to 1.090 to get them to drop in and out of the chamber. Hopefully I'll be able to shoot them soon and see which I like in the Shadow. The 147s felt much better in my XDm, but the CZ might be different.

Should be another great match. Unfortunately I'll miss this one as my girlfriend is graduating that morning. Looking forward to next month though!

While it may be heavy and have a sensitive eye relief at higher powers (we'll ignore price), that is still one sweet scope. I got to play with one at SHOT, and the way that the FFP red dot opened up to a horseshoe on higher powers was awesome. I hope other companies catch on.
