  1. Hey guys, I know there are tons of on going convo's on what rifle is the best for competition. I live in the OH area so its slim pickens on 3G matches. My plan was to get started in USCA and some ACTS matches this year to get more proficient with the rifle before making the plunge into traveling South and West to hit some 3G matches next season. The AA COR is extremely new and some might not have specs on it so far. I was at SHOT a few weeks ago and at media day on the range, I shot just about every marketed "3Gun" rifle there was! The AA was hands down the softest rifle I have ever shot PERIOD. I have had experience with a good amount of more "defensive" AR's prior and I had never found one similar that was as manageable as my KAC SR15 w/ Triple tap break. After shooting the 18" "3G" Colts, Stags, Bushmaster, etc, the AA was lighter and softer. The thing that I do not get is everything that I have ever seen marketed as a 3G rifle was a 18" gun, whereas the AA is a 16". Basically they are using low mass bolt carrier, buffers, i "think" intermediate gas system. My question is, even though I am just getting started, I want to make a purchase that will suit me for the foreseeable future and the progression of my skill. Do you guys think that this has that capability? The only difference I personally see is the lack of 2" of barrel, but you guys that are more experienced may see other things I'm missing.
  2. Hey guys! I have been shooting IDPA for quite some time, but I figured it was time to branch out and get involved in USPSA. I have shot it recreationally, but never a major. This years SS Nats will be my first. Anyway, My question is more along the lines of, when does registration open for Area matches and such? I mean the season is just getting ready to kick off and area 6 is already sold out! Is there a good way other than stalking the BE forums to see when matches actually open so I dont miss the boat on ones like this next year? Thanks!
  3. When it comes to "big dogs" Vogel and Miculek are about it in IDPA. Im pretty sure Jerry shoots IDPA 1. because he knows he isn't going to lose and 2. S&W probably pushes him into it because they put a lot into IDPA. I am sure if/when Bob loses Nationals(which i highly doubt will happen any time this century lol) he will not shoot it anymore either. If you've taken classes with Bob, you know what sport he prefers. There are definitely some really good shooters in IDPA such as Morgan, Brandon Wright, Lentz, Glenn Shelby to name a few but Bob is really the only one to have a lot of success in other disciplines, but I know a lot of the top DM's and Masters that were not shooting USPSA through this year are starting to transition in this coming year so it will be interesting to see how they fare
  4. I actually have a pre-production prototype of the magwell because I am sponsored by 10-8. I am a newbie to M&P's(coming from 1911's and Glock's), but the magwell does an awesome job at fixing one of my main complaints of the platform in comparison to Glock. Between the magwell and his base pads that he will be releasing, it is a huge improvement over stock config.
  5. Pretty much any gunsmith. I had the same issue so i just taped my hand up, they also sell thumb shields which would solve your issue as well.
  6. Yes they are on separate stations. I have a 650 so it seats at position 4 and crimps on 5
  7. I'm wondering if anyone can help answer this for me. I just bought 6k 200 bayou's and while I was setting my oal last night to 1.255, I saw some start coming out a bit longer. Still fitting case gauge and everything and it looks to be the die that is the reason because of the shape but I am not sure. They are dillon dies. Does anyone else have input to why this might be? Yes the nut is tightened down lol
  8. Maybe because you never shoot yours? LOL JK!!!! I have had a few issues, but nothing major. Always when dropping them on the ground when their empty
  9. Hey guys. Im not a newbie to reloading! And short of my first attempts, i havent had any issues like this. Im loading on a 650. 125 gr lcn over 4.1 gr's of Solo 1k. Atleast 1 every 50 rounds though is squibbing. I made 20k of these and have shot probably 15k of it with no issues until now. I am trying to narrow the problems down and figure out how i can trouble shoot it. My OAL is good, crimp looks a little light but acceptable. I dont think it is an issue with rounds not getting powder because on the few i have had, there has been burnt powder all over the casing. My next thought is i have noticed that some of my primers are flattened. My initial thought was to weigh 100-200 rounds individually and pull out anything that could possibly be on the light side and see what happens then fire the lighter weight ones individually. Does anyone else have any input on how i could possibly trouble shoot this better without turning the entirity into range ammo?
  10. Isnt Pistol Dynamics located in FL? LOL Lindenberg is probably one of the best gunsmiths of all time!
  11. Hey guys, I have an eagle that I am wanting to get some grip work done to. I was initially going to stipple it but I really like the idea of silicone carbide. Who knows of smith's that do it other than zev? I wanted to try it myself considering I do all my own stippling, but I can't find much info out there on people doing it
  12. Hey guys I shoot a Wilson CQB and sti eagle both in idpa. I am tired of thumbing down w my my support thumb and would like to add an extended lever so i can run it more like a glock. What is the best option? Wilson combat or who?
  13. I will post some pics when i get a chance. OAL is around .130 and the Solo is at 3.9. I cannot remember what the PF was. I forgot to record it, but they did make PF at the past 2 states that they were chrono'd at. I will be bumping up thought to probably 4.2-4.3 on my next run though. Im finding that the lighter the more sluggish it feels, but those still arent my issues. I completely understand why people are asking, but i think i am more the cause. I also had a few FTE's where the case didnt even try to come out of the chamber. Im sure this was due to powder popping out or something when rotating on the 650 but this has never happened through my 34. I may have just never had the same problems with any rounds through my 34, but I doubt it. Im going to stick with it for awhile and keeping getting some rounds through it and see what happens. Im not going to be seriously competing with this for the rest of the season, all my remaining matches are in CDP. But i'll definitely be playing with it when I'm not practicing and ill shoot it on my reshoots
  14. I just picked up a Duty One 2013 with the new funky serrations. At first glance, I didnt know what to think but Im starting to like the looks of them. I got this gun for ESP and overall Im liking it, but the verdict is still out on the recoilmaster. Ive talked to people who like it and vice versa. Ive been shooting some 124 lcn w/ 3.9 Solo 1k through it and Ive had a few malfunctions. Seems that most are due to the light recoil. They meet power factor and ive never really had issues through my Eagle or 34 so Im not sure what to think. If I grip too high on the gun, and contact the slide whatsoever, i can make the gun malfunction. When it runs, there is no recoil what so ever, but the action of the gun seems kind of sluggish at times. Its tough to explain because it is so much different than anything ive used in the past. So what do you guys think I should do? Kick my powder charge up a bit or just ditch the RM for a standard guide rod?
  15. I've found clays to be extremely dirty personally. Compared to vv, solo, and red dot
  16. I hear you! The powders were premixed and I'm not sure exactly how it was done, but I know of a few other people making ammo with mixed powders. Brian Zins from top shot is one of them. He is local and sells newly manufactured ammo for competition with a vv mix. All your points are extremely valid though and I ill try and get more info on the mixture. In your opinion, what are som of thbest powders for a lighter recoil impulse?
  17. I have been loading .45 of various bullet weights for some time. I have tried VV 310, REDDOT, Solo 1k, and W231. Yesterday at a local IDPA match, My area coordinator told me to try this and handed me 15 rounds of 230gr RN. I proceeded to shoot a few, and they ejected extremely quickly, but the recoil impulse seemed to be non-existent. I immediately turned to him and asked what powder it was and could I get some. He has been around the shooting sports for years, he was one of the behind the scenes guys who formed IDPA back in the day. Anyway, he said it was a 2 part mixture recipe of VV N310 and Accurate No.2..... Has anyone else heard of this? The last thing I want to do is play crazy scientific concoction guy, but damn! There is such a HUGE difference between his ammo and what I thought was some lighter recoiling ammo which I load.
  18. I see the eb gs solving the lack of activation issue but I still don't see how it relieves my hand from hurting. I would think the only things that could help that are replacing the ts to something wo sharp edges, fitting the gs so it sits flush with frame like my wc has, or modifying grip to make it more ergonomic.
  19. It's digging in the same spot as you. I can't even get through one session unless I stick my thumb straight up in the air. I can't rest it on top like my wc
  20. Don, I appreciate it! Can you let me know what parts I need to order? I would love to pin the GS, but like some others said, Taking them out for IDPA would completely screw me up, but when I do pull the trigger on a limited gun, I will definitely pin it. I am still thinking I am going to change the TS out opposed to grinding mine. It looks like with my hands size, even grinding wont do much. I think the lower ride TS's like WC and EB will work out better
  21. What is involved in lightening the gs? I probably wouldn't attempt it myself but just for knowledge sake. You really think its better to grind the ts opposed to just replacing?
  22. So I just purchased a STI Eagle 9mm from Dawson. It came with hard chrome, tac magwell, and drilled and tapped mag release, just to name a few of the options. Overall the pistol shoots amazing!! I am very pleased and it is super accurate. This is my first 2011, however, I have many semi custom 1911's from WC and NH. Some of the things I dont like so far are: The first being the GS. I have medium sized hands and with my natural, muscle memory grip sometimes I do not depress the GS enough to fire the gun. Also the TS is digging into my hand. My first NH was the same way and after that I ordered the others with WC TS'. What are my options? This gun will be primarily used for IDPA. Can I pin the GS in ESP? I could deal with the TS as long as i have consistent engagement of the GS. Should I swap out the TS for a different style? Like a WC? I am not to impressed about the safety engagement either! It really has no "click" at all during engagement. Is there another option besides WC I should look at? I may end up swapping the trigger out for a "flat" trigger down the road considering all my others have it, but my main concerns right now are getting this GS and TS situation figured out before my state matches starting in 3 weeks
  23. Hey guys, Ive been loading 124 and 125, plated and lcn for awhile now with solo, but i just picked up 5k 147 gr plated berrys and I was wondering if someone could get me a starting load. Im looking for IDPA loads. Its looking like 3.7 should be a good starting load, but i was wondering if anyone had any down for certain. It will be used out of a G34 and 1911 5"
