  1. Interesting how stories get started. The photos don't lie.......BIG BEAR! Wonder what the story is behind the third picture.......?
  2. Nik, congrats on being able to shoot 4 Winter Nats and sorry that you are unable to shoot the more club matches. I'm sorry that there aren't more local clubs for you to shoot at. I think HQ likes to see the clubs shoot the classifiers at least once a year but if you can't make it then just keep shooting the big matches. More shooting the better! good luck to you.!
  3. scandog, I'm sorry, maybe I mislead you. I'm not affiliated with the WV match, wasn't able to shoot it in 03, did shoot it in 02. I was just passing along what they did in 03. You are correct, as far as what I think HQ wants, when it comes to only getting the card signed when you move up. The MD's of the WV just chose to make it a match rule that their was a recent classifier shot, which IMO was a good move. Did it solve the "problem"?, sort of. Did it change the problem? No. "We" are all going to play the shooting games how we want to, some to win, some to shoot, some for fun, and some to just see where we fall. Is it better to be 1st MM or 3rd SS? It would probably depend if the shooter is a first year shooter or a 5th year shooter. Just my opinions.
  4. So sorry, I guess the word "solved" was too strong. It did however make people shoot the classifier within the last year. If you don't move up, you still had to have had the card signed to show that the classifier was shot. If someone wants to sign their own card.... we'll I don't think I even have to voice my opinion on that one.
  5. This is interesting, I don't recall IDPA asking for my age when I joined. I am 20 years past the young age of 12 but don't recall the question being on the membership application. Correct me if I'm wrong...... Is this rule in the green rule book? I guess maybe I should have read before typing.......Pg 45 in the green book says effective 9-1-97......members must be 12 years of age. Sounds like IDPA must have different lawyers than USPSA. Good luck to you and your son! Families that play together stay together!
  6. The WV IDPA State match solved this "problem" last year by requiring each shooter to have a recent (within the last year) classifier score. If the shooter didn't then they shot with the Masters. I think they got tired of guys coming to the local club match and seeing that the match of the day was the classifier and just deciding to not shoot that day. You want to shoot the match then shoot the classifier.......end of story! FYI, the WV State Match is a very well organized match with great stages!
  7. I have a Dawson Front Fiber Optic and a Heinie Rear Slant Pro and really like the set-up.
  8. I prefer loading 147's over 124's and don't really see much difference in the way they shoot. I use Hodgon Clays with both and I get less "spillage" since there is less of a charge when I'm loading the 147's. I've clipped the spring under the shellplate, but when loading the 124's there still seems to be some "splash" out due to the case being more full. Berry's 147 RN Clays 3.3gr 1.130" OAL My Prefered load for SA 1911 or G34
  9. You mean that there is another reloading press company besides Dillon!
  10. I'm looking at maybe getting a new range bag. What is your opinion on the Dillon and the CED (Competitive Edge Dynamics) range bags. The CED one that I'm looking at is not the "back pack" style. What do you like or dislike, and maybe you have a better suggestion than these 2. Thanks.
  11. If it doesn't move when a round is chambered, what does it matter if it moves when the chamber is empty? Hightechredneck, is this why you changed your barrels?
  12. Comments like that shouldn't be made, IMO! I might have might not agree with every rule in the little rule book, but I don't make it personal! As a side note, I'm sure glad Mr. Wilson and the others started IDPA and gave us a "sport" to shoot. The more shooting the better, IMO!
  13. So the Nats were on last night! Bummer, missed it again. Last time I watched it was the GSSF show instead. Sure would be neat to know when they are on, wonder if they'll be showing the episode again?
  14. I knew that I was forgetting something, thanks snokid! Maybe that airgunning trick is just that extra big advantage that I been looking for while doing that training.
  15. MBaneACP, Watched the show for the 1st time. Really good work. I was sort of looking forward to seeing the IDPA Nats, maybe that is on next week? The GSSF was well featured and looks like something I might have to give a try sometime.
  16. I bought a 650 3 years ago, ordered the electric casefeeder yesterday. Can't wait till it gets here. I've enjoyed the 650 without the electric casefeeder but think it will be more efficient with it. I did however make a longer feed tube for mine that would hold about 50 9mm cases. That did make life easier. I'll be watching for the big brown truck!
  17. I know that IDPA and the real world are two different things, but would you get a procedural in the "defensive real world" if you pointed your "airgun" at somebody? If it isn't in the rule book than how can it be a rule?
  18. Here is the "cheap" way to do it. Sure helps me remember which way to turn it.
  19. I should have stated in my question "124 vs 147" that the same powder is being used (Clays). This will also be in a non-compesated gun. I was just curious as I've loaded both, really like loading the 147's better, less powder flakes being spilled. I've cut the spring under the detent ball, but with 3.9gr's of Clays in a 9mm some still is "splashing" out. Not as much as it might sound, its just I don't recall any when I'm loading the 147's.
  20. I think this goes along with the post so I'll ask it here. 124gr 9mm velocity of 1010fps (power factor 125) 147gr 9mm velocity of 852fps (power factor 125) Are these 2 loads going to "feel" the same to the shooter?
  21. Flex, that is the 1st time I've seen you speechless! Well maybe not, if the saying about a picture being worth a thousand words.......
  22. I've loaded 1250 rounds since Friday and the bench usually will look like it does in the picture. I like things put away and every thing "clean" after each reloading session. That's just the way I am.
  23. Singlestack, did you do the stock work on your 3-guns? Looks real Cooool!
  24. Finally got my Dillon 650 up and running after about a year off. Built a new house. Below is my space in the basement. It isn't finished, but I think I have a pretty good start. Ten foot bench will give me some elbow room. Maybe the 650 will have get a brother....hmmmm?
