  1. For purposes of the prize table(s), are Tactical Iron & Tactical Optics scored together or separately?
  2. The AI brake has a metric thread and requires a sleeve region turned to "about" 0.83" behind the threads. The standard 308 brake is moderately effective and not very loud. It is less effective than the JP BC comp, but the JP is much louder for both shooter and spotters. The new AI two-chamber brake uses the same muzzle pattern, but is much larger and is much more effective on large gas volume cartridges (e.g. 300 & 338). I have tried it on my 308 and noticed some difference. A suppressor on 308 class cartridges reduces the recoil and report to 22LR, but does increase OAL and weight.
  3. I've worn glasses for about 12 years, and I am VERY particular about having clean and un-scratched lenses. I use HOT water from the tap and a cotton cloth to dry them off. I absolutely never rub them, especially not when dry. -z
  4. M855 from a 14.5" M4 barrel = about 2900fps
  5. I have a Noveske poly AR15 barrel. It shoots at the same velocity as other 14.5" barrels, as far as I can tell.
  6. NF has no FFP scopes.
  7. Not exactly, but I would like to know if my guns are legal or not. The rules PDF file downloads fine for me.
  8. Email to events@fireforeffect.biz and my questions here have gone unanswered for over a week. What comprises a "factory configuration"? I want to know if my guns are "legal" or not. WTF, over.
  9. We just got Warne Manufacturing, and Point Blank as additional sponsors. Get your apps in ASAP!
  10. YES, they do. Consider it a wake-up call.
  11. I've been shooting 6.8 SPC since it was first commecially available, just after SHOT 2004. The 6.8 SPC FAQ is here: http://demigod.org/68faq That said, I recommend a 223/556 rifle for your first AR-15. As far as I know, nobody is using either 6.5 or 6.8 to win 3Gun yet. 6.5 Grendel allegedly can make 320PF from a 18 or 20" barrel. 6.8 SPC cannot at this time. Art from Silver State Armory just said he has a new 110gr load shooting at 2775. If he can do that, he should be able to shoot a 125gr at a PF to make major.
  12. Looks like I'll be carpooling down with the CO boys Sent email, but what is a "factory configuration" per the rules? Can I shoot my 17" AR-15 with ACOG, and a USPSA "Limited" pistol in Tactical Optics??? Both are legal for SMM3G, RM3G, and USPSA "Tactical" class. -z PS-- Hey Benny.. I want to shoot that 9mm here!!!
  13. Total time + pentalties for match scoring emphasizes stage to stage consistency much much more than either USPSA scoring OR IMGA-style stage points. Not arguing either way, just pointing it out
  14. My load is a 200gr PRN with 5.1gr Titegroup, at 1.250", about 169-171PF from a 5" bbl. Shouldn't require much adjustment.
  15. No tape deck in my 05 XTerra. If I want to remain with an OEM (ie, non-crack-induced) look, I can buy a 05 R-F head unit off eBay and get the XM to AUX convertor. Alternatively, I could just replace the head unit, but anymore they look more like a rave than a piece of equipment with a good human interface. The $17 Scosche FM xmitter from Walmart is the sleeper, if you have the same problem.
  16. I recently got a 60GB IPOD. Coolest audio device ever. Ended 10+ years of having CD's floating all over the place and never being able to find them. Just wish it was easier to plug into my car without using a crummy FM xmitter.
  17. A stronger spring will increase the change of limp-wristing the pistol.
  18. If anyone besides me is interested in potentially putting leverage on Elcan/Specter to make the changes "we" want to this optic, contact Mike Cecil (CSGunWorks.com) mike@csgunworks.com
  19. Alan and I told him the ARMS lever had to go. Larue or simple thumbscrews would be preferrable. I also told him I wanted a fiber optic so I didn't have to deal with batteries for daytime use.
  20. Zak, I'm not familiar with using the mil graduations in reticles, and there are darn few places in the northeast to allow 1500+ yards. But, did you use the scope for the ranging, or did you use a laser rangefinder? I've seen some posts here about the high end rangefinders, that's why I inquired. By the way, if it weren't for your red arrow, I never would have seen that target! To range it, we used (1) GPS, and (2) verification by actual elevation used to hit target. Neither of the range-finders we had (mine a LRF1200 and his maybe a Burris) will range that far, even in ideal conditions.
  21. When I ran a JP LMOS (the old aluminum one), I always did it with full gas for "reliability".
