  1. We had up to about a 5mph "effective" wind (ie a half value dialed), though it was alternatingly gusting. -z
  2. There's an IOR in there somewhere... The 50 AI is waiting for me to sell my VFR800 and Yost BHP...
  3. [ link to LARGER image ] [ link to LARGER image ] And a couple AR's thrown in for good measure. Here's one of the targets we were shooting. It's a 17.5" wide by 29" high IPSC steel plate painted white with a green 8-10" circle in the middle. Who can mill it accurately? [ link to LARGER image ] [ link to LARGER image ]
  4. On an AR15, it will be very easy for the bolt release to be bumped while slung.
  5. Stage 7 RM3G 2003. Every shooter wore body armor provided by Point Blank.
  6. New info: * varied target size: rifle targets between 1" - 18", generally no smaller than 1 MOA at a distance. Also posted some new FAQs to the web page: http://www.coloradomultigun.com/prtc/
  7. Not even for cleanliness, just to keep the gas out of my face/lungs.
  8. The only time I really wish I had a piston upper is when I'm pounding rounds through the suppressor.
  9. I hope from reading the intro post that one wouldn't get the impression that this is a BR or "fly speck" shoot! We also intend Expect a variety of target sizes.
  10. We will probably give more guidance on target sizes in the future, but you should expect a variety of target sizes, including LESS THAN 3MOA.
  11. A pack animal would count as a "shooting accessory" and would have to be "carried by the team during every stage." And they would have to wear eyes and ears.
  12. Please follow the link in the top post to the match web site for complete description and rules. It's quite detailed. It is not just like a "super trooper" class.
  13. Just like somebody can AD or drop their weapon(s) NOW. A pistol in hand is a lot easier to AD than one in another other than a POS holster (which should not be permitted by the stage RO anyway).
  14. At the Tactical Repsonse Fighting Rifle class I shot last year (1800 rounds / 2 days), the one guy shooting the POF upper was having malfs very often. FWIW.
  15. I am proud to announce a new organization, Colorado Multigun, and an exciting match for 2006. Many details are still fluid at this time, but the major match parameters are set. Colorado Multigun was formed to promote world-class multigun skills through clinics, training, and competition. The Practical Rifle Team Challenge is designed to test a 2-man team's skills shooting rifle, carbine, and pistol to their effective ranges at practical targets in the natural terrain using what gear they can carry. Shooters should expect: * 8 field stages shot in the natural terrain over 3 days, including 2 night shoots (night vision gear not required) * physical challenges, obstacle negotiation, climbing, crawling, water * movement up to 2 miles * local altitude of 6700' * to carry gear used during the courses of fire * shooting rifles to 1000 yards and carbines to 500 yards * mixture of "precision" and "speed" shooting with scoring to match * "Run-n-Gun" Teams can use any ancillary equipment as long as such equipment is carried during every stage. (See Rules for details.) Cost of entry is $300 per team ($150 per person). Entry forms will be available on the web-site 17 FEB 2006 (ie, the Friday after the SHOT show). For general questions, you can reply to this thread or email PRTC@ColoradoMultigun.com Potential sponsors should contact PRTCsponsors@ColoradoMultigun.com The rest of the details are available on the match web-site: http://ColoradoMultigun.com/prtc
  16. There are a number of tactical rifle matches run by the "sniper" crowd. Here is a thread with a lot of them listed: http://www.snipershide.com/ubb/ultimatebb....1209;p=1#000009 There is also going to be a new practical/field style rifle match in 2006, run by 3Gun folks.
  17. And 7WSM performance should be equal to 7RM performance. It's not much smaller like 300WSM vs 300WM. For MOR, a 10+ capacity magazine is critical IMO. That almost certainly locks you into something based off the 308 case.
  18. For locating, ranging, and engaging multiple targets quickly, I doubt anything is as fast as having a partner spotter with a set of LRF binoculars communicating with the shooter.
  19. A month or two ago, I posted a thread about my two BHPs for sale. Where did it go?
