  1. The more I shoot, the more I understand that I don't understand. That's why I'm here. This is an accountability to myself, via the public eye. Whoever is willing to offer any words of wisdom, I'm open to correction and am extremely grateful for any tips or help. Thank you in advance. Short & Sweet Story: My first match was the 2009 US IPSC NATIONALS in Ohio. I was placed within the Super Squad. I had not even fired 50rds through a pistol..ever. The Super Squad were great and helpful, regardless of my extreme lack of experience and knowledge. Travis Tomasie, Lee Dimaculangan, Ted Puente, Phil Strader, and Emanuel Bragg went out of their way to help, I'm very grateful for that. After seeing their character and extreme performance, I was hooked. Since then, I have only shot five matches w/ Classifiers. My Lowest was 10.0975(first match ever) and the highest was 76.0559(2months ago at my 4th match) First and only classification is a B single stack shooter. I'm not satisfied w/ that and would like to make Master before 2012. Completed Goals/Work: Practical Shooting : Beyond Fundamentals by Brian Enos T.A.P.S. Thanks for your time!
  2. I agree! I'm looking to learn also! Maybe Manny Bragg can come back? Any 3-gun instruction would be great too!
  3. Does anyone have any news or pictures on STI's new Fixed Barrel Pistol? If you don't know what I'm talking about take look in STI's new catalog. Even though it's listed there is no picture, just a blacked out outline. Thanks!
  4. I assume about a round every two seconds on a Super 1050!
  5. Are you saying its safe to shoot rounds with high primers, but to just realize the feeding issues?
  6. The Super 1050 is also leaving a good amount of powder all over the place from multiple parts of the powder mechanism. When I pull bullets to check the powder the powder level seems to be pretty consistent.
  7. Just started reloading 40S&W on a Super 1050. 4.2 Tightgroup Rainer 180 Using mixed brass, the weight is fluctuating between 251gn and 258gn. It seems like the R.P Brass is usually lighter ~ around 251 to 254gn. The other cartridges seem to average within 255 to 258gn. Is this a problem? Thank You for your time!
  8. I'm not sure about the cast vs forged issue. But a Rangemaster frame cut back to 3.25inch makes an awesome USPSA legal SS frame!
  9. RIP: 40S&W TROJAN. Dawson tuned. TGO Magwell. Brazos Mag Button. Dawson Base Pads on Tripp Mags. New build on the way!
  10. Sure will. Gonna run 4.0gr of Titegroup and hope it's sub 150PF if there's a chrono at the match. Although, I do have some of my 3.7gr at 1.130" rounds on hand that I know are sub 150. And I put a couple hundred of those through the 2011 with no issues, so I suppose that's an option too. Please report back if you get chrono'd! I'm sure there's a lot of people interested in what that load would make!
  11. What pound mainspring are you using?
  12. Here's a vid of Rob Leatham. Catch the slide lock at 5:05 in the vid.
  13. Is it a common thing for Single Stack Competitors to disable the slide lock? Do you have a disabled slide lock(SS)? If so, why??? Are there any top USPSA Single Stack Shooters that have it disabled? What do you prefer?
  14. Nope. I tested out to 1.260 (as I recall) and they worked fine in both my Edge and Trojan. R, What magazines were you running in your Trojan for the 1.260 OAL??? Wilson 47NX, McCormick 10mm and Tripp System mags. Essentially all of those are .45 mags with tighter feed lip dimensions. You can load to 10mm or .45 OAL and have no problems. I may have actually tried 1.270, but can't recall. I know I went to 1.260 with no problems. That said, I'm loading for it and my Limited gun at 1.200". R, Interesting, I'm running 1.155 in my Trip Mags for my Trojan. When I was at 1.180-1.185 they were getting stuck in the mag... I realized this was happening because the Tripp 40S&W mags have a spacer inside them that limits the OAL. So I bought the 10mm Hybrid Tripp Mags to load much longer OALs!
  15. Probably meant carbon steel, but who can tell the difference? Hey was actually telling the customer the barrel was made of "plastic"... and how amazed he was that it felt so much like steel.
  16. Hey guys my single stack went down and I have no backup gun! Is there anyone out there that would let me shoot their backup single stack? I'm shooting on Saturday at 8am. I will be there Friday too.
  17. Made high B my second match. I believe I made A my third classifier but am waiting for uspsa to update...
  18. When working with a .40 single stack don't skimp on the mags. You just dropped 1k on the gun, spend a little money on the part that screws up the most. The Tripps that Ogiebb is talking about with the hybrid followers have ran great for me through about 8000 rounds now! Are you talking about the polymer followers? I only see the hybrid for 45acp on his site... My link Does he make them for 40s&w...? I think I will give him a call tomorrow!
  19. I'm surprised no one mentioned the Techwell GTO! Here's my two cents(though I'm just a beginner): I ran a Dawson Ice for about 6,000 rounds, but switched to the GTO. I figured since the "Great One" designed the GTO, it must be legit, so I gave it a try! I ended up preferring Leatham's design because the front of the well is cut out. Don't get me wrong the Ice is fast and very high quality! Though on the ICE my index finger was getting slammed into that small gap(front well) when loading magazines. When using the GTO it is much more seamless in the transition from reload to freestyle grip. This is probably the same reason that Rob Leatham cut the front of the magwell off! IF the GTO had a plastic insert like the ICE, IMO it would be pretty close to perfect, sadly that would probably hike up the price and production costs...
  20. I heard a guy working behind the desk of my local gun shop tell some guy that the rock island 1911's slide was made out of carbon fiber....
  21. Those grips look great on there! Who makes them? Are they aggressive?
  22. Decided I'm going to throw a Schuemann AET in there and send it to M2i Custom for a fit and tune! Maybe get the slide tri-cut too!
