  1. I would check your press/priming tool. I've found the opposite that Win brass is a bit more soft than R/P. However, if you're looking for a good uniformer (which is what I'd use instead of a swager) go for the Sinclair with drill attachment. Chuck the uniformer in to a drill and knock 'em out.

  2. I'd have to go with JT on this one. It's more a function of etiquette than a necessity of a rule.

    I clear the pistol pretty fast and once holstered and locked I usually turn to the RO, give him a smile and wait for the RIC command. Then do whatever needs to be done (brass, tape, check hits, etc.).

  3. I've watched open guns over the last 12 years that I've shot and I still own (and shoot) my first Open gun. Through the short gun fad and now the 9 Major craze, my Open gun(s) are basically the same as what was used in the early to mid-90's. Heck...I load my ammo at 172-173 PF as it just runs the gun better and feels better (even at Steel Challenge matches).

    Personally, what I would like to see is a wider variety of Open guns. While the STI/SVI is definitely the standard, that doesn't mean we can't see more of a variety. Thank goodness EAA is back in the game as well as Glocks but that doesn't mean we can't have XD's & M&P's in the mix too. However, like Jake said, it's not like the old days where everybody and their brother with a mill wanted to find the best widget. Material isn't getting cheaper and folks are just less willing to invest in R&D.

    I've heard an awesome design for a rifle action from a known rifle shooter and the response from many shops to do the work was that they can't keep up with the sales of what they have now, so anything new would hinder that, even though it IS better.

    It's kind of frustrating, but the optimist in me says that maybe due to the work that was put in over the last 2 decades, maybe it's a sign that we can now concentrate on being better marksman instead of chasing the latest and greatest widget.

  4. Also, I think Chargemaster's really like (at least mine does) throwing 45.3 grains of Varget. It was spittin' those out SUPER fast.

    What the heck are you loading at 45.3?

    308. :D:surprise::ph34r:

    For Chris...

    No pressure signs either (welll....not bad ones anyways. ;))...not bad for a factory rifle!

  5. Given all that, give a serious look to a CZ in 9mm. VERY affordable, probably the best pistols ergonomically there is and the frames are small enough for most womens' hands. Hi-caps are readily available as well as "race" gear or more production oriented gear. Triggers are easily tuned too.

  6. 9mm 1911, CZ SP01. Open gun with a cut down grip... :devil:

    I'll second this. We built an ex-girlfriend an open gun built on a cut down Entreprise frame (basically making it an officers model) and then with no grips added grip tape (like with Caspians).

    Worked like a champ 'til we broke up. :D

    ETA: She was 5' (maybe) and all of 95 pounds.
