  1. So far the best deal I have found on 38 short colt brass is at Midway where i got 200 Starline for $50 shipped. Anyone know of any better deals??
  2. Is there any advantage to using Starline brass over trimmed 38spl brass as long as the 38spl brass was a brand which fits my moonclips?
  3. Can I reload 38 short colt with my existing Lee 357 dies possibly using a 9mm die to expand and charge the case??
  4. I have a used R8 coming and need holster and moonclip suggestions. What is a good brass and mooncilp combination for general purpose competition 38 short colt loads? Has anyone tried the Speed Beez 8 shot .38 moons??
  5. In a couple weeks I am going to buy a Commander size 9MM 1911 mainly for defensive pistol matches and as a range toy.At this point I am considering a Magnum Research 1911c, Springfield Range Officer Champion or Ruger SR1911 LW Commander. I have seen the ZENITH ZIG PCS9 in stainless for $450 and am very tempted but for that price leery. Does anyone have any experience with this gun or series 80 Tisas guns? If so how are the triggers? I have done a lot of research on Tisas today and while I have read some negative things I would say most of what I have seen ash been rather positive.Any input would be appreciated.
  6. Aside from two extra rounds what is the difference between the Ten and Twelve round magazines for these guns? To get the extra two rounds in the ten round magazine does anyone know if they use a different follower, different spring or both?? I just bought one and would like to convert the two ten round magazines that came with it to twelve rounds if possible.
  7. I believe he was an attorney who did revolver revolver modifications in his spare time and had quite a following. More than likely the income disparity between attorney and professional gunsmith (depending on how good you are at either) stopped him from persuing it as a career.

    P320 sights

I am looking for for adjustable sights for my 9mm full size P320. The LPA TFF28SS looks good but I like the Williams adjustable target for Sig too but would it work on a P320??? Is there anything else that would work??
  9. Mine is coming!!!!!! With luck I can shoot it new years weekend. I went with the faux suppressor because I don't think on a 9mm the muzzle break will improve the recoil or muzzle rise and will mostly make it louder. The faux suppressor should add a little weight at the muzzle which I prefer and I like the looks. I think it is possible it could improve the barrel harmonics.but probably not. I have a HB Industries trigger and springs and a Bushnell TRS-25 on the way as well. The optic is described as a "Zoom Dot" ( by ecop supply) and the dot size is supposed to be variable between 2MOA and 10MOA. I have a TRS-25 on AR and like it but have never seen one with a variable dot size - has anyone else???
  10. Thanks Sergio!! I didn't know how the barrel was constructed and feared the shroud was permanently attached. Does it serve any useful purpose or is it just cosmetic??
  11. I plan on getting a Scorpion Carbine before the end of the year. It is REMOTELY possible I may, in the future wish to add a suppressor. If I get the one with the faux suppressor could I add a real suppressor without rebarreling it??
  12. Please let us know about your experience with the 929!! For me there was a definite learning curve involved and I didn't expect that but I am glad I did it. In purchasing one my advice would be to if possible see the actual gun you are getting (preferably in person) before you buy.
  13. I would like to know what the folks here are using for holsters for the 929. Looking for something to use in USPSA but I don't like the open face "race" holsters like the current blade tech open face holster I come across in searches. I have an older blade tech and a Safariland I use for my 5" 625 and 610 but when I use either of them with the 929 it protrudes thru the bottom of the holster and the front sight tends to catch slightly.
  14. At first I was disappointed in my 929 basically because my 625, Model 25 Lew Horton and 610 were great guns right out of the box. What shocked me was the steep learning curve which I have never before experienced with a revolver. Shortly after getting it I considered trading it off on something like a 627. But I stuck with it, learned it's likes, dislikes & quirks and after all of that am satisfied with it and would do it again. I got mine on GunBroker and would not recommend buying a 929 there because IMO you need to examine the gun you are getting first. Your Mileage May Vary. Currently I find mine works the best with nickel brass sized with a Lee 9mm under size sizer die and I had to do some experimenting to find some loads it shoots well.
  15. Thanks Vixy for your reply!! Been there, done that and got the T shirt! I have seen the information to which you refer and have the that kit. The spring that fellow uses produce a 2.5lb trigger (too light for me) with a very poor reset and none of the other springs in that kit are suitable in that they are too light or too heavy. Lowes also has a kit which I bought a few years ago and have gotten some springs which have worked well gor Glocks but no joy for this situation. Probably I am going to order some springs from a company called Century Spring Corp and experiment with them. Plus I am going to check with SpringCo USA who mainly makes recoil recducing systems and might offer some help. As always I am appreciative of any input I can get!!!
  16. This weekend I shot a PPQ which was set up for IDPA and had a VERY nice 3.75 lb trigger - not mushy and still had the great reset. The owner said the only thing he did was modify the factory spring (part 16 on the Walther schematic) to reduce it's weight. I contacted Wolff who said the don't have any plans for springs for the PPQ. Anyone have any other ideas for sources for springs with which I could experiment???
  17. Probably they don't want the shooter to have the ability to easily correct over or under tensioned carriers during a stage.
  18. Thanks for the input!! Ready Tacticals look like the way to go but for the moment I have a Safariland 333 coming which I plan to modify. My wife spent about 6 days in ICU last month - even with insurance I have around $6k in medical bills so money is tight for me. This will work for me with club level matches. There is an eBay store called eCopsupply I have been dealing with that has great prices and gets me stuff fast.
  19. Anyone use Comp III speedloaders for IDPA? I am looking for a way to carry mine for my L frame. So far it looks like the pocket of my carry vest. Will the Safariland CD-2 holder securely carry Comp IIIs?? It is made for Comp IIs but looks like it might work.
  20. I am not sure what AIM will do for me but if they would offer to swap the upper for me with the upper from another mk3 would that be acceptable?? I would tend to think one from another gun would fit alright.
  21. The muzzle is threaded and there is a device which has a place for an allen wrench screwed inside the barrel. Fire control is intact and a round will fit into the chamber. Definately scary!!!!!!! I knew something was wrong as soon as I looked at it because there was really nasty tool marks on the part of the barrel visible thru the ejector port.
  22. I field stripped it tonight and the locking lugs have been ground off so there is no doubt it is a blank conversion. Also I don't see any proof marks which are generally seen on Israeli guns so at this point I am inclined to think it is a movie prop. I contacted the folks at AIM Surplus who probably think I'm crazy but wanted to see some pictures. The scary part of this is that the chamber has not been altered and it will chamber a normal round.
  23. I agree but on the other side of the coin you would not want a prisoner to get a functional firearn either. There is a possibility they were carried as more of a deterent than anything else. Also if a prisoner were to get one and not know it would not fire a projectile that could give officers an adavntage in dealing with a situation.
  24. I own a XDM 5.25 and a 9mm PPQ - love em both!!!!! The XDM has a Power River Precision drop in trigger kit and has the better trigger of the two. For me they are different guns for different roles. The PPQ is a gun I would use in a duty/defense role or in competition where I were shooting an unmodified gun. The Springfield I use for a gaming gun in USPSA limited and IDPA ESP. Walther has one of the best out of the box triggers in the business but the Springfield with PRP trigger would be my choice for precision shooting.
