  1. I'm not going to get a Witness Match as I originally contemplated but will instead get a 9MM long slide conversion kit for my .45 Witness. It should come with 1 magazine - where is the best source for additional magazines??
  2. Is there an adapter plate that will allow one of these red dot optics on my Witness??
  3. biggest difference are what mags you can use in it,....large frame mags won't fit in a small frame gun. Which models are small frame??
  4. How can I tell the difference between the large and small frames? I have a .45 witness now that I'm sure is a large frame. A smaller frame would be good for me as I have small hands.
  5. I am considering getting a EAA Witness Match in 9MM. It is SA only - what kind of trigger pull weight should I expect? Also what does EAA consider to be a "longslide" as far as their conversion barrels are concerned?? What kind of optics mounts are available for the witness?
  6. Someone on the S&W Forum told me that the model 10 Heavy Barrel -1,-3,-6,-8 and -10 are pinned. I have a 3" model 65-5 and the sight appears to be part of the barrel and a model 65-3 4" which is pinned.
  7. I have been shooting IDPA for a few years and will soon shoot my first USPSA match. I understand USPSA is more challenging than IDPA. Can anyone suggest any good drills or practice stages to help me prepare?
  8. What is the dash number(10-?)? You more than likley have a pinned sight but the pin is VERY hard to see. I think all below 10-5 have pinned sights but I am not sure. Someone reading this thread will know for sure.
  9. I enjoy making as much of my own gear as possible. I usually don't save alot of money when I finish buying the materials and necessary tools but I learn things that have many other applications plus have fun in the process. Has anyone made their own holders for loaded clips and if so how? What about a Moonclip straightening tool or apparatus?
  10. I just bought a 4" 610 last year and probably won't use it in competition this year as, with the exception of a FO front sight and pachmyer decellerators, is is stock and I have not decided what if any alterations I will have done yet. At the moment I am breaking it in with 180gr RN Billy Bullets and 4.7 gr of Universal Clays. I use mixed range brass with no problems and would definately recommend a moon clip loading tool from this guy http://mooncliptool.com/ well worth the money and a very QUALITY tool promptly shipped too! The best coated bullets I have found are Bayou Bullets but they don't have a RN bullet. Billy Bullets are good as long as you have a really good bell on the case when you seat the bullet and crimp just enough keep the bullet from jumping forward but not so much as to scrape the coating when it is fired. The bayou bullets seem to have a tougher coating.
  11. Yep they all got to go in the black but the black consists of a center x area and an a 10 ring 9 ring and 8 ring. Also there are 2 targets he might be referring to a B8 target or a B16 target. There are printable versions on the net but my printer is out of ink (more on the way!!) and I can't find a description as to the size of the black area. I'd like to try this this weekend and could draw it if I knew the size of the black area.
  12. I watched a youtube video of Ken demonstrating this drill. What size is the black area of this target and is he counting anything in the black as a hit or just the x ring?
  13. Who has the besy prices on plated bullets?? Specifically I'm looking for .40 180 grain.
  14. What brand of brass in best for use with 38 cal L frame moonclips? I know some brass (Winchester I think) won't work but are there some that are preferable?
  15. How well do 9mm stock Glock barrels handle the current crop of moly coated bullets? I am interested in trying some of Donnie Miculek's 135gr RN Bayou Bullets. A few years ago I tried some Master Blaster (now out of business) bullets in my G17 and experienced severe fouling that was hard to remove.
  16. I don't mean to sound discouraging but you will probably have more luck finding a model 25 than a barrel alone. I would call Clark Custom Guns or Cylinder & Slide and ask them about getting a barrel. They could very likley hook you up or give you good ideas as th where to look. Don't forget S&W Forum and S&W Forums. Good Luck and keep us posted!!
  17. Any pictures of home made tools?
  18. Anyone have suggestions for a fiber optic front for a pinned 610? I just bought it new and it has the hole in the front for the interchangable sight mechanisim but no guts just a pin. How are the HIViz sights? Do they create holster fitting problems like an XS can?
  19. Anyone ever used these speed loaders? I've seen some at a good price - $7.99ea but have never heard of them. They look like the ones David Soul's character (Davis) uses in the movie "Magnum Force". I use HKS loaders in my K frames with pretty good success and am thinking about trying some of these for my L frames.
  20. Anyone know where I can find plans/instructions to build a simple drop turner?
  21. Depending on how closly the range is monitored you could probably load 1 round per magazine and practice reloads. As long as you are not breaking shorts one after another they probably not say much.
  22. The 610 is probably more accurate especally with 10mm loads at long range but at IDPA distances I doubt you would see a difference. The 625 is probably faster - Jerry M. seems to think so. On the other hand if you wanted to go hunting with it personaly I think the 10mm has the edge. If pins appeal to you the 625 has the edge and my 625 prefers 230gr slugs so do the pins. All in all a hard decision but for me the the tie breaker is that a 625 would be lonley with out a 1911 as a companion so it would be a good excuse to get one!! At least I could tell that to my wife when I came home with a new 1911! Fortunately my couch is warm and comfortable.
  23. I am considering having my S&W 686 setup to accept moon clips mainly for IDPA - I realize I would have to shoot it as ESR and use Mag loads that would make Major but I like the challenge. Has anyone had this done to a revolver and what are your thoughts?
