  1. I really can't stand Brady. He is way too cocky and just a little pretty boy. The Colt's star reciever was out and Moorehead dropped more than one very critical pass that was thrown perfectly. I can't wait till the AFC championship. I was really hoping for a free safety blitz so Bob Sanders could wipe the field with Brady.
  2. Didn't read the entire thread because I'm kinda pressed for time. How effective are games for practice? Not as effective as dry fire.
  3. Regardless of how good you are at reloading. If you shoot the same stage twice, one with a reload and one without, everything else being equal, you will be about .50 faster when you didn't load.
  4. I think you make a lot of valid points there. I still think that a professional athlete should still be able to run more than 75 yards without being taken out of the game for a half though. The example I used about the NFL player was just an entry into the rest of my rant (the main issue I was addressing).
  5. I agree that he is an entertainer. But if you play a sport at a professional level you better be an athlete too.
  6. Whatever you can do right now. Personally I run a few times a week (3 or 4) and workout at night. I just started working for a tree service business so I am doing manual labor throughout the day and will adjust my training plan accordingly. Try either one for a week or see. If you are feeling lethargic, tired, irritable, or sick, you are probably overreaching and should back down a bit. Overreaching for a long time leads to overtraining which can stymie your advancement for weeks or even months.
  7. I understand that is not what he trained for and he may be very proficient at playing his position. But if you can't run 100 yards without almost dying, there is something wrong there. Don't you think he would be a better overall player if he actually put a little training into stamina? How about fast feet? That is certainly a lot more useful in getting around an offensive lineman than raw power alone.
  8. Stay strong Tom. Instead of doing 2 a days with running. Why don't you run once a day and workout once a day?
  9. Like I said in the post you quoted (although I'm unsure if you read the entire thing), I'm sure it isn't a lack of hard practice. But I would love to look them in the eye and tell them it's pathetic that one of their star "athletes" can't run 100 yards without being taken out of the game for almost an entire half. If I ever get the opportunity you can be sure I will. I'll make sure that it's recorded so you can load my ammo for a year. Or do you think that he is a phenomenal athlete?
  10. There were some really good blocks made. (The play was eventually called back for holding though).
  11. That somewhat illustrates my point though. Similar to shooting, you aren't magically going to be faster on game (or match) day. If he ran 30% faster today than he ever had in his life....he had never practiced hard enough. Now I don't think that is the case I just think he is conditioned for a single activity rather than every other area of athleticism. That to me is not athleticism. A true athlete will rise to the top regardless of what the activity is barring any genetic disorders or injuries.
  12. I actually wasn't referring to the time required to make up the shot and still be ahead, but the time you have to shoot an Alpha the first time.
  13. Watching the Cowboys game. Romo fumbled and a DT picked the ball up and ran it back to the endzone...about 75 yards. He then kneeled down, and stayed there until he was taken to the sideline and given oxygen to recover and later was taken into the locker room for an IV.......after a 75 yard run. And the commentors are proclaiming how great of an athlete he is. The modern day popular definition of fitness and athleticism has been so watered down it almost makes me sick. You have 250 pound professional athletes who literally can't sprint 100 yards without almost passing out and potentially needing an IV. Are you kidding me? I don't understand how that person can call himself an athlete and then actually look at himself in the mirror. It's the same thing that I used to see when I worked out at the local powerhouse. There were maybe 2 people in there that took their fitness seriously, and they were proclaimed by all to be on steroids and growth hormones "You can't look like that just by working out." Yeah...well I see what actually passes for "work" by most in these gyms and I have a news flash. If you aren't even sweating, you aren't working out. I especially love it when I see a person on a treadmill, bike, or elliptical machine and they are reading a magazine. And after their 20 minute stint "reading in motion" they go right to the front desk and swill the latest and greatest 600 calorie "recovery" drink. I wonder how this person treats his fitness in private? I guess that the bottom line is that I absolute despise the mediocrity I see in society today. 90% of the people who actually do train hard do it for appearance rather than actual ability. Ego rules all. So what do I hate? I hate all the bowflex commercials I see proclaiming fitness in 60 minutes of effort a week. I hate any advertisement that offers weight loss without exercise. I hate any commercial that has the words "eat what you want and still lose weight." And most of all, I hate the people that buy into every "ground breaking" piece of BS machinery and fad south beach like diets rather than just cowboy up and work their asses off.
  14. Gotcha....that's what happens when you post after a long night of drinking. Ok, to fix that. 50 seconds for a 150 point stage. 3 points per second. Alpha is worth 1 seconds more than a delta and 1.66 seconds more than a NPM.
  15. The longer it takes you to complete a stage, the more important points become. If it takes you 50 seconds to shoot a 150 point stage, each point is then worth 3 seconds - making a single Alpha worth 9 seconds more than a Delta and 15 seconds more than a NPM.
  16. Rob is the best Iron sighted pistol shooter in history in spite of the fact of his physical conditioning. Imagine what will happen when someone with Rob's skill with a pistol and top notch athletic conditioning comes around. Anyone who says you can be overweight and still compete at the top level of your potential is lying to you.
  17. To me, the contract was nullified as soon as Dana started lying to him.
  18. As long as they aren't interfering with another squad, as far as I'm concerned they can do whatever they want. It really isn't giving them a real advantage, only a perceived one and as we all know - perception is not reality. Walling the stages off is a loser to me as well. I just don't see the point.
  19. Good job, make sure you refuel properly (within 30 minutes - this is critical) after both workouts so you properly replace your glycogen stores which will help you recover more quickly. The faster you recover, the sooner you can do another work out.
  20. Maybe I should reiterate? Rules are the same for all level matches.
  21. I probably stretched for almost 45 minutes at the range just before the Western PA match this past weekend.
  22. Steve man, I didn't know you were a Tenacious D fan. Man we are gonna have fun at the next match we are at.
