  1. Bob, there is also a need to support for IPSC Handgun, Shotgun and Rifle maches. The only question is which "burner" is on front of the other...

PS: for the record I don't shoot IDPA, SC or MultiGun.

If I had a vote, I'd vote for IDPA as the next focus for development of a dedicated match type & results output. Of course we will all vote for what we shoot.

Electronic scoring has a very small penatration in IDPA compared to other sports. Partly due to lack of endoresment by IDPA HQ but more so at the club level there is a lack of solutions that fill the need. SSI has a product but it is IMHO cumbersome. Practicscore is is great but it requires local input screen design and configuration plus it does not provide the insight IDPA compeators like to see in the results. They like to see Points, Procedural penelities, Hit to Non-threats, and Failrues to neturlize broken out (idealy per stage), not just penelity time.

The only reason we're using Practiscore is that as the MD I forced the issue and devote the extra time for tablet set up (which is still less time than data entry into a spreadsheet). No one has stopped shooting IDPA because of it but I still get a lot of "I wish I could see xyz".

  2. ....use the phone to read the QR codes and register into the match file, ...

This is where Ken lost me...there has to be an application/program that reads the QR Code and puts the information into the Practiscore registration file. I got the rest, just wondering how the system would work...but if Ken is working up an app to go along with Practiscore, then I'm back.

If it were up to me (of course it's not) there would be a "QR" button on the shooter registration screen the you would push which would activate the camera and then read the code, close the camera, and populate the registration fields. Maybe?

  3. > Qr code into Nook

You wouldn't. But I wouldn't register on a Nook, too slow, and the keyboard too flakey. Fine for scoring, but I wouldn't register on it unless as last resort. No internet needed to read Qr codes, just a camera. So you could have a smart phone used just for that purpose, somebody has one in their pocket.

Maybe I used wrong wording...was wondering how you plan to get the QR code INFO or the data into something (CSV) that will go into the Nook...i.e the registration. I understand obtaining the QR code with a phone, but how to you plan to "append" into a CSV file on the phone to create an electronic registration file.

Neat stuff, just trying to grasp how to do it to make life easier and without a laptop...if it's possible.

I think what has been suggested is sync the match to a phone, use the phone to read the QR codes and register into the match file, then sync back to the scoring tablets with the new shooters.

  4. Someone said they've only had a few shooters put PS on their phones to get results real time. Hell, we have enough shooters walking around now syncing their scores into their own devices (yes, I know we could do something about that and would really need to at a major match), that you look around and everyone's doing that instead of pasting targets and resetting steel!

That was me. We're a pretty small IDPA operation, normally 20-25 shooters so we only run two squads. Whne I say real time, mean right after shooting is done and I've sync'd the two devices. Durning the match I keep the network off to: 1) save battery on my phone which is runing as hotspot, 2) keep shooters from trying to sync after every stage. Out of the typical 20-24 shooters I might get 3 or 4 wanting to sync after the match. But we've only runing electronic scoring for 3 months and it seems more are wanting to sync every month, so...

  5. ....

Rob - I'm testing a pre-register website for my clubs weekend matches now. Working the kinks out. It will roll out next month sometime.

It's actually the system I'm using for Area 1, but toned down a bit for simplicity.

    Ken N.

That's super duper triple chocolate AWSOME! :goof:

  6. I'd kick in cash if needed. It's a good app.

Fixed decimal time field would we good, no great!

I'd rather see a preregistration function on the Practiscore web page that would let me down load shooters just before the match. QR codes may work for some but I don't think it would help locally but you never can tell. Only a few local shooters have put Practiscore on their phone to get results real time. Not sure how many would use a QR code function on their phone.

  7. I think Rob posted a rather optimistic load for 180 lead with W231 - I think you are not going to get Major reliably until you hit 4.8 gr and may need up to 5.0. Rob - better rerun the chrony on those.

Sorry, Jim I'll stand by my numbers. I did test the 180 gr Moly coated lead w/ 4.8gr W231 and got 177PF out of the M&P and 182PF out of the 1911.

Both guns delivered 170-171PF at 4.5gr w/ the 180 gr Moly lead.

IT was a cool temp day so I will double check on a warm day.

If the choro is off then I screwed no matter what.

I know you are not gaming it but please check before you get caught with minor in a level 2. (When you are done playing in SSTK)

For you Jm I shall  but...

I looked back through all my records and in the Kimber 1911 40S&W both UMC and Win White Box factory ammo chrono'd about 40fps faster than in the Glock 35 I sold you a few years ago. The M&P Pro 40 results with the UMC and WWB were nearly the same as with the G35. Same lots of UMC and WWB.

Also, in all loads I tested with the the Moly bullets the M&P was consistently 10-25 FPS lower than the Kimber. Larger delta's at higher and lower loads taht the 4.5gr W231.

So, I agree in a G35 4.5gr W231 with 180gr lead might be kind of sporty as in maybe not guite up to major PF .

FYI, the Kimber has a Kart match barrel so it might be a bit tighter and thus run a bit hotter.

  8. I ordered the wrong one!?!?! :goof: Oh well...

Does anyone know, will these work on generic Nordic tubes? Are the threads the same? A buddy is looking to extend the Nordic tube on his M2 and Nordic is out of stock of their XL cap.

That was the red, but hey, it's all good!

Speaking of the VM Tactical caps, I THINK that they will also fit the threads on the end of the JM 930. Anyone got one they can try it on to confirm 100%?

Also, I should have a prototype mag tube to try out shortly. Those got delayed a little by an Akdal project that was just completed. Those folks that will be at SMM3G will get a chance to see the results of that endeavour....

    :-)

Just ordered a +2 in green. I'm sure I'll shoot faster now! Green means go, right?

  10. 4.4 - 4.5 grains with lead moly coated Magnus bulltes gets you right to 170-172 PF in a 5" 1911.

5.0 grains with FMJ's out of G35 will get you to 170 PF.

Both loads with Fed SPP and mixed brass.

Recommed you back off by 10% and work your way up with you gun.

    Bullet weight??

Sorry, all 180 grain, COL is max per reloading manuals for 180 graim Conical FP (I'm not at home so I can't measure and confirm)

  12. Yea, that's probably Jessie Duff. I guarantee she's not shooting a stock PT1911. There have been many times that it's been shown that some of those top-end guns are STI guns with the sponsored's name etched in the slide.

Not sure if that's the case with her's, but that's what I'd guess.

    Facts or speculations?

  13. Even tho people poo-poo the Tuarus PT-1911 here.................. There still a great gun to get started with and if the "insides" do take a crap on you.... you can replace them with EGW parts and REALLY have a great gun............

and for the people that say "only buy from the places that support the sport".............. I saw a couple of shows on TV the last couple of days that had a female shooter that was shooting for Tuarus team.... So THERE.... :goof: :goof: :goof: :goof:

I ran a PT 1911 for a couple years is IDPA CDP. It ran very well. Its not a perfect gun, nothing is at that price point. Today there are a lot of guns at that price point to pick from. Its a good time to be getting into SSTK.
