  1. I read where some people had horrible peening after even 100rds on a new gun. I have about 300 mid-power rounds down my 2005 10mm Match and not a scratch on the guide rod's cradle area.
  2. For a newer (and non-comp) shooter, would it be worth the headache to get them into a 22 conversion, or should they just grab a Buckmark?
  3. That first link's images look familiar http://jkbullets.com/index.php?main_page=i...&cPath=1_15 they must use the same mold mfg
  4. Do you just want the long blued slide? I have seen blued LS standard models before, but EAA apparently wasn't consistent on those. Alternatively you could just pick up a cheap standard frame and drop the LS kit on top. You won't have the extended safety, so if you're a 1911-pointer kind of guy you'd need one. LS conversion kits are $285 from EAA. You'd be out $710 up front and you could sell the standard frame top for $200 as a "conversion kit"
  5. FWIW You could have an Elite Stock by the time you buy a Match and all the parts.
  6. More fail from EAA. Henning's eventually going to be making so many parts that we should just rebadge the entire line as Henningfoglio.
  7. Had the same problem with my 10mm, it eventually worked itself out. Guess the casings eventually cleared that burr out.
  8. Had the chance to go shooting recently. My range isn't lit much near the shooting station so I was still unable to see my sights. This annoyed the bejesus out of me. I dug out my LED headlamp and it will be making the next range trip with me. At least the target area was lit, so I could see when my front sight went in front of the target ring. I used some rounds that a friend of mine loaded up for me with some jacketed and some hardcast lead bullets (180gr TC from www.jkbullets.com). Near the end I mag-loaded 5 rounds of UMC 10mm, and like a clock, the second round was a light strike and did not fire. The hammer was all the way down, it was not caught on the half-cock of the sear. The fifth round did the same thing. So I'm going to clean the crap out of the firing pin channel, and try again. I guess if it happens again I should just get a Henning XL firing pin? I still need to get the small hex keys. What OAL does the Witness like in 10mm?
  9. I have my non-rail Match in a Don Hume holster for a 92 non-rail. I'd look at holsters for the 94 w/rail or a Sig P220, Mosquito 5", Bul Cherokee, etc.
  10. It's amazing that Tanfoglio lets these out the door.
  11. i had my wife pick up that color in fingernail polish oh, and i found my targets from last time labeled targets are at 15ft. (there's a stray on the 15ft, the gas from the muzzle was making the target rock on the hanger ) unlabeled at 25ft 1-2 seconds between shots i'm sure there's somebody rolling his eyes, but take it easy there's an X ring shot on one 25fter that i remember pretty clearly. a friend of mine told me to let the break come as a surprise to you. i posted up, lined up my sights, started applying trigger pressure while my arm was settling in, and bang! X ring. most of the time i was just kind of blasting away, though. I'm looking at some bullets from www.jkbullets.com, does anybody else run lead down their 10mm? I figure I could load it to 10mm Lite to save on fouling.
  12. Oh and here's the green paint on the sights. A buddy of mine recently got a Steel Compact and it at least had a white dot on the front sight, I don't know why the Match has zilch.
  13. I'll have to pick up some smaller hex keys, but I'll let that adjustment screw out and see how it performs. I bet it is catching on the half-cock when it happens, because I never remembered two clicks from the sear. Maybe the trigger is moving too far forward during recoil?
  14. A guy I work with has this exact same problem with his Witness Compact 9 (Steel Wonder) on the factory included magazine. (His mags from Reed's Ammo don't do this) I'll relay the message. He's all about minor fluff and buff, this might make his day.
  15. So I messed with it and the hammer moves fine when the trigger is fully depressed. If I let off of the trigger, it catches on the half-cock. Maybe I will need a new XL firing pin. Guessing I just push down on the hammer end of the firing pin and slide that block out that's behind it?
  16. ^^ I'll check that when I get home. (Can't carry at work )
  17. Figured I'd chime in with my Witness Elite Match 10mm input. I did a lot of research on the Elite Match and after hearing a couple of stories about how people were just wowed by them, including one where everyone who put rounds down this guy's EM ended up buying one themselves, I was sold. I read some complaints, but nothing seemed particularly consistent. Bought from Reeds Ammo in OKC for something like 533 OTD (tax+ship) Picked up 150rds of range ammunition (100rds UMC, 50rds Blazer Alu) and hit the range. I shot OK for a newbie. Minute-of-pie-plate at 26ft, leaning to 10-11 o clock. So the gun gave me some problems. It seemed as if it did not like the UMC much. I had multiple failures to fire. Cocking the hammer and going again always fired the round in question, but it really irritated me when it would happen 3-4 times per magazine. I'm suspecting it's a feed issue and/or UMC ammo sucks. The Blazer blew through just fine with just one failure to fire. Picked up my brass and they all have primer wipe. Even at that, my buddies at the range just loved that 10mm. I had to answer dozens of questions about it. Ordered some magazines from Reed. Picked up another box of UMC for cheap, a box of some Blazer Alu again. Hit the range again with some friends, a different set of them this time. A couple more failures to fire, which I kind of expected. But I have a new behavior! I get misfeeds, rounds diving into the top of the chamber. That was all sorts of fun. Cleared those as they happened, checked the rounds for setback, fed them again. Shot a little bit better, but the range was kind of dark and my front sight post would pretty much disappear when I was over the X ring on my targets. So I broke out the calipers when I got home. Mag lips were all the way from .390 to .400. You could reach your finger in under the nose of the bullet and just lift the rounds out. I tweaked them all to .385 and it put a stop to that. Haven't made it to the range again, but I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this fixes the feed issues. I've also taken some super bright neon green fingernail polish to the front sight post and the depressions in the rear sight. Anyway, just thought I would bear witness to my Witness! 18. Got a Match in Feb and it came with the Novak-style sights. The sucky sight picture was one of the first things I figured out about this gun, and I'm new to handguns!
  19. My 10mm match flings the brass 30 feet or so. I just put a trash can there.
