  6. As someone who has over 6000 hours on the B777 as a captain...... and all of that flying international......... it is very possible to make the airplane go stealth while oceanic. This whole bit about the transponder is bogus as without active radar, it has no use. I've never flown over the bay of Thailand but have spent a lot of time over the South China Sea. Flown Tokyo to Singapore and Tokyo Bangkok many times. In the middle of the night, these control areas (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos ) are virtually not existent. Many times position reports are "in the blind" and mostly for the benefit of other aircraft on the frequency. Yes, the aircraft is interrogated by operations on a regular basis but by the time anyone would sound the alarm bells that something was amiss, the airplane could be anywhere. Besides, to my knowledge these interrogations do not include present position. I'll have to check on that. Personally, I think the airplane is sitting on the ground somewhere.
  7. Thanks....I'll check it out and thanks for the serious reply
  8. I am going to be in Denver through March 5th. Any suggestions on places to practice? Any local matches to shoot? Dave from Rockford, IL

  10. I probably have too just didn't know it....thanks
  11. So you're making major PF okay? I forgot to metnion the gun currently has a Bedell comp. Have to think about the regular barrel.....
  12. That would be my choice but Schumann doesn't show it available, hence my comment about sweet talking them. Seems to me they could pull one off assembly before the CNC drilled the holes but I really don't know anything about the process.
  13. I have a STI frame Caspian slide shorty currently in 38 super which needs a new barrel. It has a schumann ribbed, 3 popple barrel in it now so I'm forced to go with a schumann ribbed barrel for it's replacement (not a bad thing). However the only one schumann is offering is with 2 popple's. (unless I can sweet talk them into a special production) I really want to go with 9 major in this gun as my primay shooter is a 5" in 9 major and I love it. I also have a 5" in 38 super....so I'm a touch torn. My concern is can I make major with 9mm in a shorty with 2 popples. Anyone out there with experience about this? I'm shooting IMR7625 with a 124gr in my 9 major now and it's a great load, but not opposed to changing.
  14. Absolutely Nik...I think my point is more theory than reality. As I said in an earlier post in this thread...I never take it personally. I'm always willing to take a second look and get another set of eyes on the target.
  15. Great discussion and it has, at least for me, clarified how I view the question. It is just part of the process that each shooter on a squad is looking for a fair game and often we say "hey RO, you might want to look at this again" I've had it happen often and I never take it personally because we DO miss stuff especially after a long [couple of] day. I guess the question at the 2010 nationals is who called the RM. I believe if put in the situation as the CRO, I would let the RM make the call, but it would be MY decidion to call in the RM. I still believe a third party shooter does not have the right under our current rules to demand a RM appeal. I still believe that right lies only with the shoorter. As an aside, I have on occasion had a shooter at local matches (mostly in jest) object when my GF runs me as the shooter (we are both RO's) claiming favoritism. While we have a good time with it on the squad, I always quietly have someone else run me just in case the ribbing is not 100% in fun. It goes to higher level matches where we all want the best and fairest in our officiating and any questions need to be put to rest with respect to the quality of the scoring.
  16. No...scoring issuse don't go to arb. They are settled on the stage by the RM Your initial question asked if a 3rd party can appeal a call to a CRO/RM. In that respect, I agree with Aztec and think 11.7 does apply. Nevermind. I failed to keep reading 9.6. 9.6.6 gives the RM final authority on scoring disputes. No arbitration on scoring as you said. No, there is no provision for a 3rd party to appeal a score to a CRO or RM. 9.6.4 clearly says competitor or delegate can quesion the RO. 9.6.5 says the competitor may appeal to the CRO or RM. Since "delegate" is omitted from 9.6.5, USPSA puts the responsibility on the competitor only to elevate the issue to the CRO or RM. At least that is how I read it. That's the way I see it. I could see where 11.7 flows into other parts of the rules and the argument has some merit but.........can't quite swallow that argument in this case as 9.6.4 clearly says "Any challenge.....by the competitor (or his delegate)...." seems pretty specific.
  17. Yeah...why I ask. I always thought it was wrong. Amidon himself called it though.
  18. No...scoring issuse don't go to arb. They are settled on the stage by the RM
  19. Besides if the shooter did not use the mag during the stage, what difference did it make? The WSB implied "mags to be used" during the stage.
  20. Is there anything in the rule book that allows Shooter "A" to question the scoring hits of Shooter "B" and appeal to the CRO/RM?
  21. I assume your shooter was disqualified for a safety issue. If the disqualified shooter, was allowed to re-enter in the same match, and injured someone with another unsafe act, ask your MD/RM how he would explain that in the civil suit for damages. Yeah...kinda makes the explaination to Mr. Amidon moot.....
  22. Was the MD that particular day also the RM? Yeah...pretty much. Firt time we didn't bring in an outside RM for reasons outta our control
  23. The separate entry fee is a byproduct of it being a separate match. Sounds like your MD needs to spend a little more time with the rule book. He can do it in his off time since it'll be someone different. It was also the first year we didn't bring in an outside RM for reasons out of our control.
  24. Yeah....kinda what I'm thinking. And BTW Spanky .... about the seperate entry fee. I've had that happen where a shooter DQ's then thinks they can just "reregister" and start shooting again. Same division or not. NOT!! This all stems from a problem we (I) had a few months back where a shooter DQ's on day one of our big match (100+ shooters) and our MD told him he could come back in a different division. I got a call at 6am on day two and ended up over ruling our MD and calling the shooter to stay home. Actully the shooter agreed with me but the MD was more than a little upset. As president of the club I needed to be concerned about rules violations and USPSA sanctioning. I still get grief over that one.
