  1. Lots of updates today to the website including stages! TheMonsterMatch.net
  2. Back home at Universal Shooting Academy. Oct 30 - Nov 1 Shot in a 1 day format. 8 Stages 400+ rounds. Signature steel stage will be back again this year with a new twist. Registration is open with about 90 or 100 slots still open so plenty of room. Registration and more info on the match website. TheMonsterMatch.net Bonus point for shooting in costume...plus gun give away for best voted costume.
  3. Scores were pushed to USPSA on average every 90 minutes or so throughout the match. Listed under major matches. That's about as fast as we can do it using paper scoring as USPSA mandated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yo Dudes and Dudettes, This thread was just brought to my attention. I apologize for not chiming in sooner but I've been busting my ass along with 8-10 volunteers and 1 employee not changing the stages for 9 hours a day the past 5 days. To clarify some stuff. I'm just a general do-bitch at this match. Dave Jenkins is the Assistant Match Director which means he does most of everything. Phil is technically the MD, though he hasn't done much of anything. Jenkins is a very good friend of mine and he was the chief designer of the stages. He has designed many stages for me here at USA for various matches. I have/allow him to do that because he is really good at it. I consulted on them, we talked the flavor of them over, agreed and disagreed over some aspects but make no mistake, I take 100% full ownership of them as partner here at USA and as Director of competitive events here (actually, I made that title up). A little on my philosophy as a full time shooter, National Champion, Match Director and all around good dude. This match is the USPSA National Championship. The purpose of the match is to determine the best shooter in the country in Division as well as the best shooter in Class. If you want to slide down fire poles, stripper poles, play on tanks or roller coasters, dance with gay clowns (or straight ones, that's all cool too), a National Championship at my range ain't going to be the place to do it. The purpose of a National Championship is to test a full array of pistol skills. We host many matches here at USA. All of our matches have a different flavor. If you've shot here I think you would agree. The FL Open, FL State, US IPSC Nationals, The Monster Match, all theses matches' stages get my stamp of approval and they have entirely different flavors, tests, and skill sets. This is not by accident. If you want the circus stuff, come shoot our Monster Match. We've shot off the back of moving Golf Carts, off of moving tread mills, this year a machine gun may be involved.....But that isn't the Nationals. I thought the stages in St. George were awesome! But it didn't test all skills in my opinion. Not enough medium and smaller courses. (granted I was DQ'ed last year before I got to the little stages! ) I don't think the stages were bad by any stretch, just not my opinion of a well rounded test. If you have a single accurate target.....say a mini popper or partial within the confines of a huge field course, it isn't the same as that same target within a small speed shoot or medium course. Not the same test. I thought the stages in Vegas were good. A little similar after a few years, but overall, I thought they were good stages. Who's been around long enough to have shot Barry? (not the Revo/SS bs, the real nats) We shot the same targets hiding behind the same goofy cartoon hardcover cars for years, the same pneumatic turning targets we always have. That is an awesome test! None of these examples are bad....just examples. Maybe Roy has been around too long.....I think it just seems like you've seen everything dude. I'm surprised this much bad blood is coming from you. You've been around a bit, and match directed yourself. A lot of what makes these matches great are the competition you're up against and at the Nationals it's the best of the best. I think that is something to remember as well. End of story, if anyone wants to boycott any stage you have my permission. I will give you a heads up that that doesn't factor so well. If, however you'd like to compete for a National Title on what I think are some pretty awesome and challenging stages of fire then we got you covered. Lets go compete! The last thing I would add is I've shot the bigger stages a few times this week since we didn't make any changes to what was here and I think they are very nice. I've enjoyed them quite a bit. May shoot some more tomorrow after we finish finalizing the zero changes to the stages.
  5. Yes there is room. Email me with your info. SmittyFL@Gmail.com I'll put you in the system. Squad Matrix posted tonight on the website. Still have some squad collapsing to do. Will do that this weekend for final. On site registration schedule and virtual shooters brief will be posted this weekend as well. Thanks.
  6. SCHEDULE CHANGE!!! Due to less than orgasmic turnout I'm changing the main match to a 2 day format. Saturday and Sunday, 9 stages per day. I think with IPSC not being super popular here, plus the lull after WS for the overseas competitors and all the USPSA Nationals surrounding us it's hurt the attendance a little. Most all pros and hotdogs looking to make the teams are coming as it is a qualifier match. Still a great opportunity to go up against the best, hope you can make it. If this causes any major butthurt with travel arrangements already made let me know. I'll do what I can to make things right. Even though it's over a month I know it's short notice. I'm doing it mainly to help folks with travel days and to save money. Hopefully it doesn't hurt anyone. Stages posting soon....keep an eye on the website. Also still a few short on staff if anyone is interested. Check the website for more info on that. Thanks!
  7. Going to test the waters with a small Shotgun only match in a couple weeks. Short notice, but hope to learn from this one and go big next year. Not a ton of slots available so if you're interested get signed up. We're using Match Sign Up. USA Scattergun Challenge Info
  8. Registration is open via Match Sign Up. More info here: US IPSC Nationals Website This match is a month before the USPSA Nationals. Come get a warm up for the big match (hehe). Stages for both matches are complete on paper and will be different. I'm sure some walls will be in the same spot but the won't look the same. US IPSC Nationals @ Universal Shooting Academy 18 stages, 300 rounds. 3 days of shooting on half day schedule. 6 stages per day plus chrono. Stages will be posted to the website the first week in August. Staff applications are available on our website as well. Hope you can make it!
  9. Will we be needing to sling our shotguns and/or rifles? Nope no slings required. All weapons will be abandoned either on tables or barrels.
  10. Plan is to push a bit past that this year. 400-425 on a LaRue target, just 2 rounds but likely an enhanced penalty. Also will have the 10"MGM flashers from 100-250ish. The other 'longer' range rifle this year will just be 100. Will be a few slugs in the 30yd range. Couple clay flippers like we had last year. Also some creative stages using all 3 guns. Some web updates were posted today and the stages will be posted by Wednesday probably. The weekend is pretty full but still tons of room to shoot the whole match on Friday.
  11. Happy to announce Devil Dog Arms has signed on a multi year deal to be the title match sponsor. More info to come on our website and social media outlets soon! http://www.devildogarms.com/
  12. Stages and squad schedule just posted to the website: http://www.universalshootingacademy.com/matches/florida-open/ Virtual shooter brief will be posted there towards the end of this week along with registration info. With electronic scoring registration is just verifying info.....2 minute process. If you are a social media type you can follow Universal Shooting Academy on all the cool places for up to the minute match updates. FB, Tweeter, Instagram and our website.
  13. Tampa and Orlando are about the same distance. Whichever has cheaper rates is the way to go. We'll get a bunch more information on our website than we already have. We have travel info and the like on there now but I'll get some Nationals specific info up there this summer. We have Polk County Sports and Marketing helping us out, especially with promotional type information and things to do in the state. Obviously we have Disney, beaches and that type of stuff but there are tons of other things to do in Central Florida. We are excited to share our venue with USPSA and the National Championship.
  14. Stages won't post for a couple weeks still. They are complete on paper and off to USPSA for sanction... No goodie bags but guns for Division, class and category winners with enough participation.
  15. Yeah well, heck. What would I do with some time off in the fall?!?!?
  16. Boom! http://www.universalshootingacademy.com/news/
  17. Registration is open on Match Sign Up. Match website here: http://www.universalshootingacademy.com/matches/3-gun-championship/general-info/ It will be awesome. Last year I got beat by a girl. That is all.
  18. http://www.universalshootingacademy.com/matches/florida-state-championship/ Stages and Matrix posted.
  19. Stages are drawn up, awaiting sanctioning. We will post them next week sanctioned or not. USPSA hasn't been quick to get back to us.
  20. The Open doesn't have a prize table per se but we give guns to class, division and category winners with a certain participation level.
  21. Yep. It will be at USA the 3rd weekend in July. We don't have a contract but handshake agreement for at least 2015 here and I hope for a few years to come. We (USA) enjoy having the match. I spoke to Eddie at the SE Pro Am and he said he would be updating the website soon and was going to send me the stages to start vetting. I'm spoken to Scoutten and Shooting USA plans to be back covering the match. That's not in stone either but is the current plan. As far as I know the new owners do not plan to change anything on how the match runs or the basic format. Don't mess with success. Eddie and Robert are motivated and excited to be taking over the match. This is solely my opinion but I'd like to see regionals pop up around the country and the 'national' level pro am remain here. The only issue with running a large pro am style match is it is pretty steel intensive....not a ton of ranges have the resources. One idea for anyone interested in possible hosting one is consolidating the steel from clubs in an area or section to hold the match. Lot of work moving that much steel around but it sure is a fun match. The new owners or I will update on Enos as soon as we are firmed up on dates, scheduling, etc. Thanks.
  22. Always a huge start to the season and great excuse to come down out of the cold. The 2015 Florida Open is ready for business!! Registration is open now on Match Sign Up.
