  1. Scores still aren't correct according to practiscore. I don't see the match on USPSA. I guess the hour hasn't started yet?
  2. We will be using USPSA Time Plus scoring. No power factor. Virtual shooters meeting and match book will be on the website early next month with more explanation, round counts, type, etc.
  3. Good. Sponsor page updated today. http://www.universalshootingacademy.com/matches/3-gun-championship/sponsors/ Hope to have a decent table. A little late to the game but folks are coming through for me. I have a pool of stages together and plan to have them narrowed down and posted by the first of June. We have a local match Saturday and I'm going to test out some ideas. (not running the stages to be clear)
  4. The 6 shooter is dead for sure. If you want to be competitive anyway. I do take pride in being the highest finisher at nationals that shot a 'real' revolver however! Cliff Walsh was nice enough to loan me his 38 purple passion but I didn't have time to load ammo for it so I went with my trusty 625. Had a fun match and shot ok, just way too slow. I certainly wouldn't have been in the hunt for a title if I had shot minor but I guarantee I would have finished higher. Probably had 5 flat footed reloads that I wouldn't have had if 8 rounds. You cannot over come that 15 seconds or whatever it works out to. (my reloads suck) On one hand I'm sorry to see the classic 6 shooter become obsolete, but on the other two hands I don't really care as I don't shoot the division and if it grows the division then it is worth it. I guess we'll see. Thanks to all involved in putting on the match. We had a great squad and a fun time.
  5. Got em. I haven't used practiscore much before. Couldn't find it for a while. Thanks Bill.
  6. A little Bryan. I figure some stages are going to take longer than others. Logistics are certainly one of my concerns as MD. Pistol matches are pretty easy. I think I've left the schedule pretty lax to accommodate longer stage times. Though I don't have a ton of 3 Gun experience I do have quite a bit of competition shooting experience. I like the 100 pt stage value of the USPSA Time Plus system. I understand the argument of weighting misses or mistakes differently but I look at more in valuing skill sets. If you're a close range rifle hoser and smoke that stage or a great shotgunner and smoke that stage or kill the long range or multi gun stage you are rewarded. But the person more well rounded should prevail. That's my theory anyway. I'm excited to put on the match!
  7. Is there video of this Tim or can you explain the stage in more detail and why you liked it?
  8. I wasn't fishing but thanks for your opinions. I agree, I think a good match can be had under that rule set. We run our local matches under the USPSA time plus and I haven't found any real problems or restrictions with it. We shall see! I have some great experienced folks helping out with stage design and hope to have some creative, challenging but not gimmicky stages to offer.
  9. I kinda see your point Ryan but thats the way big matches are often times. USPSA Nationals requires 4 days off work likely. More days of shooting on less stages. If I wait for the weekend there is no way foreign travelers will wait around. I will have limited spots to shoot our post match, I can probably slip you in there email me if interested.
  10. The US IPSC Nationals returns to Universal Shooting Academy this October immediately following World Shoot XVII ON THE SAME STAGES!! 30 stages in 3 days!! For those that couldn't get a slot to the World Shoot here is your opportunity to tackle the same stages as the best shooters in the world just a couple days later. I will likely even produce combined results just for fun to see how you stack up against the WS field. For those already competing in the WS, why not hang out another couple days and compete for a National Championship. Who wouldn't want to spend another few days in Frostproof, Florida?!?!? We are running the Main Match BEFORE the Pre Match which I guess would make it the Post Match! We are doing this to accommodate the competitors and sponsors that may want to stay but wouldn't if there was a 3 day wait. Registration is open and more info can be found on our website! Hope you can make it. http://www.universalshootingacademy.com/matches/us-ipsc-nationals/
  11. Happy to announce Universal Shooting Academy is bringing back the Area 6 Three Gun Championship. June 27-29, 2014. Staff and sponsors will shoot on Friday. Main match competitors will shoot Saturday and Sunday. 8 Stages - Full day schedule We will be following the USPSA Multigun Rules January 1, 2014 (Provisional) Not sure why it still says provisional but thats the rule set we'll be using and divisions we'll be recognizing (if meeting attendance requirements) Time Plus scoring. Match fee: $150 More info here: http://www.universalshootingacademy.com/matches/3-gun-championship/ Registration and squadding via Match Sign Up. Registration opens tomorrow April 1. I posted a question here on enos a while back asking thoughts on 'your' perfect multi gun match. Not surprisingly I got a lot of different answers. Some posted here, some in PM's, some via email, some in person or on phone. I appreciate everyone's time in answering me. I ask because I pretty much run matches for a living and am always looking to get better. I am new to 3 gun at anything over local level stuff, so I have a lot to learn. Also not surprisingly the first thing I learned is you're not going to be able to please everybody in 3 gun match design. (Actually I already pretty much had that figured out.) Not set in stone but here are my general thoughts on the match as you decide whether to take a chance on a 'new' match and 3 gun match director. 8 stages. 2 or 3 one gun, 2 or 3 two gun, 3 three gun. 2 longer range rifle stages. One to 400 or close to it with 4moa targets and backers so they are visible. The other longer range will be right at 200 or just under. We have some reactive targets and I plan to order more prior to the match. Plan the use of a couple vehicles to shoot in and around. (not moving) Plan the use of ariel shotgun tagets. No bonus targets. Will be grounding guns as a general rule. Not likely to require or use slings. It is a little short notice for an Area match but I plan to put together the best prize table I can. Prizes will be awarded in order of finish within division. I hope to have a couple sponsor announcements this week as I finalize some talks. I gather most of the crowd here tends to prefer the outlaw matches. Maybe just because there are more of them. I want to support USPSA for various reasons but also I think a good match can be laid out under USPSA rules. I guess we shall see. I'll be around here to answer questions. Email, pm or shout if anyone needs anything. Thanks, Shannon
  12. Just for my knowledge what's the reasoning behind this Kelly? Also, where can I find Horner scoring information?
  13. Thanks again for all input. I have received a few pm's and many emails as well. We have a helicopter (not a flying one), a couple vehicles, room for two long range stages (250 and 650 available) and plenty of bays for anything else. Right now I'm thinking 8 stages, 3 three gun, 3 or 4 two gun, and 1 or 2 one gun. Half day schedules, prize table Sunday after shooting. Don't know that I'm a big fan of slings though I can see how it can speed up the match. The crowd seems spit on that so the jury is still out. I'm going to run some budget stuff and I'll open registration by April 1.
  14. Great info guys. Thanks. Formulating a plan...announcement this week. Keep any suggestions coming.
  15. As I expected some conflicting ideas. I appreciate all the feedback guys. Couple questions. A few mentioned no bonus targets. What is a bonus target and why don't you like them? For those that like slung weapons, why do you like it and how does it add to or help the match? Thanks!
  16. In what ways does it limit or suffer Mr50? This match will be USPSA but I'm not opposed to going 3GN or outlaw or something for subsequent years if that makes for happier customers.
  17. We are bringing back Area 6 Three Gun this year. It will be the last weekend in June at Universal Shooting Academy. Official announcement will be going up on USPSA today or tomorrow and I'll start a thread here in a couple days as well. Registration will be on Match Sign Up the first of April. What I'm interested in however is your opinion on the ideal set up and structure for a multi-gun match. Number of stages, types of stages (long range, all 3 gun, some single gun, number of stages, etc.), squad sizes, stages shot per day, round count per gun, etc. I consider myself a decent match director being that I at least do a lot of them and do it for a living but haven't done any large 3 gun stuff. I think this will be a smaller match especially with the short notice with plans to go big next year. So the floor is yours, tell me whats cool! Thanks, Shannon
  18. Started hacking out the stages on the ground today. I'll get them posted by Thursday of this week along with schedule matrix and other cool stuff.
  19. Correct on the FL State Match. There will be some info going up this week and everything will be up by mid next week. Schedule, sponsors, stages, etc. We're going with a Florida activities theme this year....so think, golfing, fishing, diving, bingo, funerals!, etc...... It's pretty close to full!!
  20. Schedule and stages! http://www.universalshootingacademy.com/fl-state-championship-2/
  21. HI Express should give you $89 if you mention Universal Shooting Academy. Let me know if they do not.....that is our agreement. I would not recommend the Hampton Inn in Lake Wales. The new manager will not offer any special price for USA students or competitors. In fact I would appreciate staying somewhere else. I'm about to pull them totally off of our website.
  22. Stage placement laid out today, building tomorrow. Schedule and stages will be posted to the website tomorrow evening.
