  1. Given all this, is there any chance of me "winning" a slot to the Nationals?  (yes, I AM cheap - thank you for asking)  Can an unclassified shooter even go?

    No such thing as free slots - you gotta pay the match fee!  (There may be clubs/sections/areas out there that do PAY the fee for you - check with your locale!)

    Unclassified shoots for overall placement only - but you've got time to get classified, it only takes 4!

    And yes, you can buy slots - see previous posts reference to other discussion :-)

  2. The number of points is your hit factor's percentage of the shooter with the highest hit factor.

    Top shooter had 10 hit factor - gets 100% of the point.

    You had 5 hit factor - you get 50% of the points.

    I can't answer the second portion of your question - that's always been a mystery to me too :-)

  3. This may be a bit of thread drift, but never having competed in the US, let alone at the USPSA Nationals, how does someone get on the wait list?

    Here's a relevant discussion you can review http://www.brianenos.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard...=6&topic=50

    Of course, the format stuff doesn't apply - but the part how the slots are earned does.

    Kim's email is kim@uspsa.org - make sure you include your USPSA number in the request!

  4. I like the new format.  I think it's great that some of the up and comers will be able to hit the top 16 and not because TGO had a bad day, but because he chose to shoot in a different division.

    I think it will not bring to question anybody's talent... just the opposite, it will bring more shooters to the limelight!

    Limited 10 is NOT A SINGLE STACK DIVISION.  L10 is specifically for people that invested in hi-caps and can't use them because of their local gun laws.  I expect most of the top 16 to be wide bodies with downloaded mags.

  5. So... TODAY SUCKED!!!  I absolutely positively rely on this site and you guys to get me through the day!  I missed y'all :-)

    Because of the really intense work I do, I take quick little "do something else" breaks - and this site has been my favorite "do something else" since I found it!

  6. What a Difference a Year Makes.......

    Last Christmas we were thinking about all the things we didn't have;

    THIS Christmas we are thinking about all the things we do have.

    Last Christmas we were placing wreaths on the doors of our homes;

    THIS Christmas we are placing wreaths on the graves of our heroes.

    Last Christmas we were counting our money;

    THIS Christmas we are counting our blessings.

    Last Christmas we were lighting candles to decorate;

    THIS Christmas we are lighting candles to commemorate.

    Last Christmas we paid lip service to the real meaning of the holidays;

    THIS Christmas we are paying homage to it.

    Last Christmas we were digging deep into our bank accounts to find money to fly home for the holidays;

    THIS Christmas we are digging deep into our souls to find the courage to do so.

    Last Christmas we were trying not to let annoying relatives get the best of us;

    THIS Christmas we are trying to give the best of ourselves to them.

    Last Christmas we thought it was enough to celebrate the holidays;

    THIS Christmas we know we must also find ways to consecrate them.

    Last Christmas we thought a man who could rush down a football field was a hero;

    THIS Christmas we know a man who rushes into a burning building is the real one.

    Last Christmas were thinking about the madness of the holidays;

    THIS Christmas we are thinking about the meaning of them.

    Last Christmas we were getting on one another's nerves;

    THIS Christmas we are getting on our knees.

    Last Christmas we were giving thanks for gifts from stores;

    THIS Christmas we are giving thanks for gifts from God.

    Last Christmas we were wondering how to give our children all the things that money can buy;

    THIS Christmas we are wondering how to give them all the things money cannot buy (peace, security).

    Last Christmas we were thinking about all the pressure we are under at the office;

    THIS Christmas we are thinking about all the people who no longer have an office to go to.

    Last Christmas we were singing carols;

    THIS Christmas we are singing anthems.

    Last Christmas we were thinking how good it would feel to be affluent;

    THIS Christmas we are thinking how good it feels to be alive.

    Last Christmas we thought angels were in heaven;

    THIS Christmas we know they are right here on earth.

    Last Christmas we were contemplating all the changes we wanted to make in the new year;

    THIS Christmas we are contemplating all the changes we will have to make in this new reality.

    Last Christmas we believed in the power of the pocketbook;

    THIS Christmas we believe in the power of prayer.

    Last Christmas we were sharing/spreading/listening to gossip;

    THIS Christmas we are sharing/spreading/listening to the Gospel.

    Last Christmas we were complaining how much of our earnings went to taxes;

    THIS Christmas we comprehend that freedom isn't free.

    Last Christmas we valued things that were costly;

    THIS Christmas we value things that are holy.

    Last Christmas the people we idolized wore sports uniforms;

    THIS Christmas the people we idolize wear police, firefighter and military uniforms.

    Last Christmas 'peace on earth' is something we prayed for on Sunday morning;

    NOW its something we pray for every single day.

  7. Oh, wait, I remember now, I used to call it a chick flick until I actually saw it.......

     He's seen it - MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY TIMES.  When I say this is my favorite movie, I'm NOT KIDDING :-)  Hmmm - maybe that's why he says it's a chick flick!  I yam a chick ya know!

    Maybe you should change your tag line to read: I should have been born a blonde?

    My family SWEARS that I was born blonde.  (of course, they still call me Kathy Klutz too!)

    We've negotiated an agreement that I inherited my beautiful RED hair from Auntie Loreal :-)

  9. If it's within 200 miles - we go!  When we lived in Salinas however, we could NOT bring ourselves to drive on the weekends.  Shooting seriously suffered, but we were commuting 75 miles EACH WAY to work and the thought of getting back in the truck was just too much for us ;-)

  10. Maybe there's something to this whole "doing IPSC matches to improve your shooting skills" thing.

    Ummm - this has always seemed like a no-brainer to me - do the other shooting sports see it differently?  Or am I being blonde and missing something again? ;-0
