  1. Here's my guess!

    5 shots     Flying M....

5 Shots     In and Out (now called Round about)

    5 Shots     5 to go

    5 Shots     Outer Limits

    5 Shots     Showdown

    5 Shots     Speed Option

    2 Shots     Double Trouble

They were shot 4x's for a total of 128 rounds.

  2. I have a BIG GREEN wagon - holds an extra large custom made Hafner bag (who knows what he's got in there!), my li'l blue dillon (baby wipes, ear plugs, ammo, antibacterial hand lotion and a first aid kit - geez, I am a GRRL ) and an ice chest!

And the best part is - I don't have to pull it around the range!

PS - BIRD - how is your wife?

  3. Dear Daddy :-)

Yes, I do think our sport is dying.  At least from my narrow view of it here in Northern California.  A lot of our "old timers" are burning out and getting bitter.  The problem is, there's not a whole hell of a lot of new shooters to replace them.

Unless (until?) we can attract new members to cover the older ones leaving, we will just fade away into nothingness.

But with IDPA, SASS, GSSF (EGADS I'm an AP and the host of other competitions for our competitors, it's not easy to attract those new shooters.

Heck, I can't even TALK about guns at my job, because of our company policy!

It's really really really sad :-(

  4. Oh wonderful - you're screw around, blow the reload and shoot all A's score is only 3 SECONDS slower than my fastest time - grrrr :-))))

I then, of course, blew the stage right next to it (but so did Dave

So was this before or after your arbitration (tee hee hee)

  5. Sorry guys, but I have to disagree with you.  I struggled for years with an iron sighted gun and was downright pissed off when I got the open gun because no one had forced me to get it earlier.

I think new shooters should try and use both as much as possible to find the one that works best for them.

  6. It's not going to be the top score, but it's one of my best!

    Open - .38 super - C Class

    8.37 seconds
    59 points
    7.049 hf

12-27 Yup - this one is my highest classifier score ever :-)

  7. Informative stuff!  I however, asked my Doc, who told me - DRINK WATER and eat fresh fruit :-)  My body can NOT handle the extra glucose, fructose or maltodextrin :-(

YMMV and remember that this was an endo treating a diabetic.

  8. You can do what you have to do to get into position, just don't fire outside of the box!

I hate this classifier :-)  See my "hate" on bad course design!

You could also invoke the "unable to do" rule (I sure hope it's in the new book!) and take the penalties.  You should probably get a ruling from Amidon on any position you want to try, since it is a classifier.

  9. Aikido Girl,

I suggest you use the C-More.  I've tried the holosight, and while it is much easier to "see", it just weighs too much!  I was having an extremely difficult time "handling" the gun with the added weight.  Most noticeably, I was "driving" past targets and ending up with TONS of misses - not good!

I've been using the Cmore for over 3 years now, and I do NOT have any problems with seeing the dot in any light!  For reference, we're in Northern California - so we do see the sun sometimes :-)

And welcome to the Brian's Forums - it's nice to see another GRRL!

Ok, I gotta ask. What is a Foo and why do I have to wear it's shit?

    Well it's like this -

there was once a guy traveling through ancient china.  he met up with a wise old man who had a bird on his shoulder - the old man never went anywhere without his bird (and the resulting birdshit).  So the guy finally asked the old man "What's with birdsh*t"?  The old man replied it was for luck.  Of course the young guy scoffed causing the old man to offer up his lucky bird to the young man.  The young guy of course took the bird, and the first time the bird pooped, the young man wiped it off.  Within a minute a bolt of lightning came down from the sky blasting the young man (the bird was okay though!)

As the old man bent over to pick up his bird, he was overheard muttering

"I TOLD HIM, IF THE FOO SHITS WEAR IT".

And of course you've all heard about Roy's new shoes ...

Roy was a cowboy that slept in the open, and woke up to find his brand new shoes chewed to bits.  So he tracked and hunted the critter that did this for YEARS until he finally found it and killt it.  While carrying the animal to town to have it skinned and stuffed a friend stopped him and asked -

"Pardon me Roy, is that the cat that chewed your new shoes"?

These two jokes with their resulting punchlines are examples of my Dad's really sick sense of humor.  My family uses them (just the punchlines!) often to release tension and cause hilarity amongst ourselves.

  11. So do any of you think this may be a guy vs grrl thing?  I really think it should be okay "I did great" - and who cares if you won??  If you feel good, say so :-)

I did today - and got some negativity, but I think it was done in fun!  And when I placed in class, wonderful!  But even had I not placed, I still felt GREAT about my performance.  And told EVERYONE how good I did!

  12. Actually not following their game plan is okay - the can say so.  But how do the expect to get compliments if they don't say - I did great?

There is a huge difference between bragging, being conceited, being HONEST and being positive - capiche?

  13. Why are shooters so negative?  Ask anyone at anytime during a match how they're doing, and they'll NEVER say they're doing awesome, or it's the best match of their lives, or they kicked ass - all you get in response is "Okay", or " I did a few right" or some other nonsense about their supposed mediocrity.

I just don't get this!  Why is it okay to pump up other people, but not ourselves?

I had a great match today!  I saw what was going on, shot them clean and was really smooth!  Do I get kudos, oh no - cause I can't TELL anybody how great I did!

So can some of you more experienced shooters shed some light on this phenomenon?  Does it come from some old time school or what?

  14. Quote: from Kyle Norris - I still feel really bad about arguing with a guy I consider a friend that had just been up range of my gun. Why do people design traps like this? Any time when the RO and shooter have to be that close together there is a problem. Should USPSA look at doing something about this, perhaps including it in the CRO course?

    Hi Kyle,

I feel for you!  But there's a few things you should rembmer.  First, when you're the shooter, it's your time to perform.  Don't feel bad for doing the right thing and make sure you're comfortable for the outcome.

As to the course design, I dunno!  Sure wish I did know though!  Refer to my previous rant on my confusions and solutions!

    K

  15. Okay, so here's the deal...

If you're going to design a stage - READ THE RULEBOOK.  Know the rulebook, understand the rulebook, BE the rulebook.  That way you'll understand what you can and CAN NOT do which would prevent 98% of the hassles during a match.

If you're going to design a stage - LEARN TO WRITE procedures that are foolproof easy to follow and follows the rulebook.  You'll prevent 98% of the troubles during a match.

If you're going to design a stage - remember that you're a DAMNED shooter too.  Make them fun, interesting and challenging.  But do NOT make them so hard that no one can complete it without ruining their confidence!!!!

If you're going to design a stage, remember that you're a DAMNED shooter too.  Make them fun, interesting and challenging, make them fun, interesting and challenging, make them fun, interesting and challenging.

YES I REPEATED MYSELF ON PURPOSE!!!  It's an important point!

Most course designer feel that shooters want variety and they have to be different - NOPE!  No way!  We want FUN, INTERESTING AND CHALLENGING.  I do NOT want to shoot through barrels on 8 stages cause that's all the designers could think of that was challening.

I do NOT want to shoot through ports for 8 stages!

I do not want to SQUAT down through 8 stages for those damned low ports - that ain't fun!

If you can challenge me, then I usually have fun.  But I want shooting challenges, NOT PHYSICAL challenges.  I already KNOW I'm physically unable to do alot of things, but I can shoot - so test my shooting skills, please, not my ability to get up off the ground as a starting position.  It WILL take me longer to do this, no doubt about it.  And when I can't win the match because of the physical challenges YOU designed in your stage, I'm NOT having fun!

You volunteered to design that stage.  Take responsibility for the mistakes.  Realize that shooters will push the envelope at all costs, and when one finds your mistake, thank him for teaching you something new today.  And really LEARN from the lesson.  If your weakness was the procedure, write it better next time.  If you blew it on a rule, READ THE FIRST PARAGRAPH OF THIS RANT AGAIN.

And remember that this is FUN and a learning experience and smile and be polite and do NOT take it personally.  We'll all be much better off!

    ***************************************

WOW - I've wanted to say that for about 3 years.  Thanks for the forum where I can get it out!

I'm off to shoot a match - wish me luck :-)

  16. How about some VERY specific dry fire drills for me to practice?  I get bored easily, and can only stand so much draw and "pull" twice!!!!

(Y'all should be happy to know I LOOKED for these before posting - See, I can learn :)

    K

  17. Forgive my lateness here - (I hope someone actually sees this!)

As a Diabetic, I struggle constantly with this problem.  Has anyone actually READ the ingredients list on Gatorade :-)

So has anyone found a good replacement drink without all that sugar??  Ditto for energy bars!

    K

  18. I hate that this guy is whining about $50 and wants a new shooter discount - try having to pay for 2 OF EVERYTHING and then whine about a lousy $50, kay?

What we want is a FAMILY discount.  They discount for Junior shooters, but not for wives!  What's up with that?

For me and the DH to go the nationals and shoot both matches, the entrance fees alone are $1100!!

Now having said all that - PAY THE EXTRA $50 AND SHOOT THE NATIONALS.  There is no better learning experience!  We went our first year in the sport are hooked for life because of the great experience we had at the Nationals.
